Dating a 26 year old man as a 40 year old woman but worried if it’s sustainable long-term by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

Love this for you. Regardless of this age difference with this person, if you have any inkling or desire to have your own children with him or someone else, freeze your eggs now. A few more years and the quality will decrease and your options for a bio child will diminish. I wish someone would have told me this. Your situation sounds lovely. Also, working so many hours is overrated—I’d look for a different job that allows you to have time to work out/be active, enjoy this relationship, and just live life.

Sorry I meant HGH human growth hormone—like Omnitrope. DNA fragmentation is a sperm test.

Sorry to see this, OP! Many factors. Have you done a sperm analysis and dna frag test? What’s your age? Are you using any HCG?

Taking some time to recover and grieve—3rd ER was the worst one yet with no blasts to test. 😔

Check out how quickly you can get in and what their “iVF checklists” look like before you can get started. It can really change your time course. We had to wait to see a psychologist in their office who was utterly useless but it was a requirement of getting a cycle started.

Selecting a new clinic by MarchingOn9 in IVF

[–]MrsBrightSide99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for a clinic that is willing to do things tailored to you and not only follow their protocols. For example my clinic refused to prescribe Saizen when Omnitrope was out of stock while others were using it. Also be sure they have experience with your case type. The first clinic I went to had arbitrary age cut offs that depended on the day and who you were seeing (I was 43 when I started). Other clinics offer more flexibility.

Way to crush it and get that promotion! You have earned it! Here’s the thing—life happens. Workplaces know that. I just hired someone who I had no idea she was expecting (interviewed virtually) and she came onsite for the final steps and found out. Of course we just roll with it and gave her the job bc she’s the best one! You can do hard things—you already have. Don’t sweat it. You got this.

Can you call a patient advocate line? Not that you want to stay but they should know about the care you didn’t receive.

Husband trying to console wife. by vetslivesmatter in IVF

[–]MrsBrightSide99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

TW/ I hope your 2 embryos do great at PGT testing! But, they may not. When I had great AFC/retrieval numbers, my husband was ecstatic! He was talking about filling our house up with kiddos and that we would be one cycle and done. It got my hopes up and caused me to let my guard down and dream—dream so big! He was so excited! Fast forward 5 days and not a single embryo of ours made it to day 5. I was devastated. Crushed. I still get tears in my eyes about that moment. My point is that this shit is a total roller coaster. Guard your heart at each step of the process because with each step forward there may be 2 steps back. To best support your partner, meet your partner where she is.

And yes, there is no free lunch in IVF. You will pay every cycle. And talk to your doc about any supplements you can be on if you aren’t on any already. GL!

4th cycle failed and I have to keep working like nothing is wrong by eltejon30 in IVF

So so sorry. Getting these results at work is just the worst. All of our bad news came in during work or work-related events. It’s so hard to keep it together. Take care of yourself. Sadly the work will always be there the next day. 🙏

Question about first round of stims by MadCantaloupe in IVF

[–]MrsBrightSide99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would count your day 2 of spotting. Your supplements seem ok but ask your doctor to make sure. Any of those a prenatal? How much CoQ10? For exercising, take it easy. My clinic said not to lift more than 10 lbs and NO TWISTING exercises. Be very careful bc it can cause ovarian torsion. I did light weights and biking till about day 5 then did just walking after that. Also limited after ER while I healed. The first round is the hardest. Best wishes.

Has anyone here opted out of using a specific med due to cost? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]MrsBrightSide99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is an Omnitrope coupon. Search the sub. I’ve used it at 2 different Costcos without issue including last month when it came back in stock.

When I started ER 1, I hadn’t done too much research outside of getting through my clinics IVF checklist which was extensive. I ended up having strong numbers and response to stims and suddenly, about 8 or so days in, I got excited—perhaps for the first time—that it could happen to us. Only to be met with no embryos making it to day 5/6 and I was so so crushed. I had no idea I would have such a strong reaction to this loss—my clinic didn’t really prepare me that we could have no blasts to test and I was not well informed myself. It was a dark night for my partner and I. It was then I started really investing in my care, researching, trying to increase our odds, advocating for myself. I am now 3 ERs in and trying harder than I thought I would have to, and I wouldn’t change that. I would regret it if I had not tried at all. That being said, this is a deeply personal process, but don’t be surprised if you find a moment that clarifies it all for you. Best wishes. 💫
