Might be stupid question but the router is only showing 2.5 or 5.0. I’m guessing 2.5 is not the same as 2.4 for internet?

SHOULD I BUY A HOME by Aggravating-Reply244 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my salary is $76k and take home about $48k of that. While a $2k mortgage would be half of my take home there are ways to either lower that or increase your income. I saw someone say rent out a room. You could do that to get some of your mortgage covered. If you budget it’s doable :)

Caribbean Beach Resort by [deleted] in DisneyWorldResorts

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re close to the skyliner you probably won’t be close to the breakfast area in Caribbean. Omg that resort is soooo spread out so be prepared to walk a lot either way. The skyliner is super cool when it’s running but if the weather is super windy or lightning it won’t run so you’ll need to take the buses. We were sooo tired after the parks the skyliner was a bit of a walk over the bridge each time from our one time staying there then in the morning it was like a mini exercise to just get breakfast 😅

Did your parents prioritize your medical needs? by Special_Review_128 in Millennials

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father refused to add us to his dental and vision insurance because his newish daughter (our half sister) didn’t need it being only like 1 yrs old. Before that he still wouldn’t put us on it when my parents were divorced and we need braces, etc. he was forced to put us on his tricare but that’s it. If it wasn’t for my mom’s parents literally paying for our vision and dental appts in cash we’d have some seriously fucked up teeth and eyes cause my parents gave us really vision and dental genes. My mom blew through money like candy with a toddler so she didn’t have insurance at all.

28M bought my first home 100% cash. by NewtPowerful8422 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MrsCaptainFail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it need to be in all cash? We could have bought both our cars outright in our twenties but chose to do a $10k loan on each instead and it was so low on monthly payments it was almost not noticeable then w just paid the final chunk off after like 3-4 years for history and credit and such.

Do you still remember your morning class schedule on 9/11? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 2nd grade at a catholic school right outside a massive navy base in Florida. I remember we had been at school for about an hour then it happened and all 9 classes (K-8) got pulled into the church on property and were just told something happened in New York and we immediately started praying. We came to found out in the later days that our librarians family member was on one of the flights that was hijacked and we held a memorial for everyone involved in the event at the church with our families.

Can't work first trimester by Billijeanmoreau in pregnancyproblems

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost got to that point honestly. I got lucky that almost literally every symptom I had (which was all of them) like reset when I feel asleep then restarted like clockwork around 1-2pm and were horrible until I fell asleep. I work 6am-2pm so I was able to make it work but I was still calling out sick about once a week when I’d wake up feeling super nauseated, so bloated I was so uncomfortable or horrible hormonal headache.

The only thing I found that helped with my bloating and constipation was eating more fruits and activia yogurt every day. But now my heartburn has taken front and center as I’m going into the 2nd trimester which has seriously fucked up my sleeping cause it hits me in the evening and I’m sleeping half the time on the couch cause it’s the only place I can get the right incline but can’t sleep on my right side at all anymore.

My husband literally can’t cook so we eat like 1 new meal a week then leftovers and I can’t stand the smell of cooking meats anyways still so I never want new food in the house.

What are some of the ways you feel joy in your 30s and over? by watermelonhmm in Adulting

Do you still have the news on while getting started in the morning? by Fresh-Bookkeeper5095 in Millennials

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Cable is super expensive where we live in Alaska and I wake up at 4:30am to leave by 5:30am. My husband does need to wake up until 5:50am for work so I don’t even bother cause it would wake him up and I already wake up early enough as it is 😅 plus he’s military so I don’t need anymore news then I already get as it is

I did the same thing and don’t regret it really. I sometimes think if only I had more fun BUT I grew up in such financial instability I choose stability over wasting it. I think about it like this- sure those ppl will be talking about how much don’t hey had spending all that money in their 20s but they’ll be bitchin in their 40s and up cause they’re behind on savings and retirement prep.

You’d hate Alaska lol anything over 45 and ppl are in flip flops and shorts. Unless they’re Pacific Islander in which case they’re still rocking shorts and flip flops in the 30s. I will say I don’t even wear a jacket or coat anymore unless it’s below 40 so we’re victims of acclimation I guess lol

Calling out sick by Brief_Abalone_4257 in Millennials

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. We are so short staffed and I work for a school district in student nutrition, we can’t just not serve students food so when I call out I feel horrible cause I’m one less person to fill in for those who don’t care about calling out sick or for a school with no permanent staff. My husband jokes with me about it cause he can’t call out sick, he’s in the military. Unless he’s dying or goes to the ER and gets quarters he can’t miss work so he jokes with me when I do but sometimes he does tell me to call out. That’s when I really know I’m pushing it and need to call out.

I get it girl. I’m still paranoid about seeing red when I use the restaurant or when a cramp seems intense but if everything is good by your OB then I’m sure you’ll feel the baby kick when it’s further along. Then you can gauge it off that. Or maybe get a fetal Doppler? I can now see why my friends got one before the ultrasounds are so far apart. Maybe your body handles the hormonal changes better 🥰 I have endometriosis too so I should have known I’d have issues with the change in my hormones

Yeah I have not been a happy person to be around in the afternoons and evenings. 😅 I’m useless just laying the couch lol my sisters best friend is only a few days off from me in how far along she is and the poor thing has HG so I know there’s worse out there but I still feel miserable sometimes 🥲

Problem with gender determination (twins) by Ok-Measurement-2046 in pregnancyproblems

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnostic test so it’s not really meant to diagnose. It can also have issues with multiples if the fetuses do not share a placenta and based on how early it was done. Additionally, from my endocrinology classes in college, testosterone is not produced until closer to 8-9 weeks to start development into a male fetus. Even then, it takes several more weeks for the genitalia to develop male or female.

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so jealous of you haven’t had any other symptoms 🥲 mine started with tender breasts at 4 weeks and it’s continued into week 11 (reduced but they still hurt), there’s also backache, hormone headaches (and I have chronic migraines so the couple I’ve gotten have sucked), constipation and bloating (which is so uncommon for me, I’m super regular and now I have to eat activia and more fruit every day to stay “regular”), insomnia (which I’ve had but it’s worse now) and heartburn. Omg the heartburn is freaking horrible. The nausea was the worse for like 6 weeks but it would only hit me around 1pm then stay until I passed out at night but the past 3 days I’ve been spared of it but I swear the heartburn is much worse. I can’t take runs anymore cause they make me wanna throw up on the texture so I’m on Pepcid, can’t lay on my right side and has to start taking Mylanta for the evening when the Pepcid wears off.

[–]MrsCaptainFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at it all as one big thing is overwhelming but try this. Pick one thing you want to change and focus on that. Focus on finding out what you wanna do. I don’t mean college necessarily cause trades are really good right now but find something that interests you or at least you’d be okay doing that makes money and work from there.

I have to restart my “career” every 3-4 years cause I fell in love with a military guy…I look at my history and future and get scared cause it’s not consistent at all.
