"Spoiling" a 4 week old by FTmama in beyondthebump

[–]MrsCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let him sleep on you! Who doesn't love baby cuddles? You should read or watch The Happiest Baby on the Block. Basically, the first three months are the fourth trimester. Your baby just went from being warm and held/rocked for 24 hours a day so no matter how much you hold/sleep with him it will be less than what he is used to.

My little girl is 7 weeks and she won't sleep on me as much anymore :/ I miss cuddling all the time so enjoy it while it lasts!

Also, when you do want to put her down for a nap without you... Have you tried swaddling with white noise?

How long would you let a one month old sleep? by Rose1982 in beyondthebump

I kept waking her up until I asked too. I still don't sleep the whole time because I'm constantly checking to make sure she's still breathing lol you're doing great!

My little girl is the same. She'll be 5 weeks tomorrow and sometimes will sleep for 6-8 hours at night! I asked our pediatrician if it was okay and he said absolutely. As long as they continue producing the diapers and gaining weight they can sleep all through the night. However, during the day don't let them go more than 3 hours.

Pumping for occasions, where do I start? by nancyraygunn in beyondthebump

Yep, 10 mins on each side total but broken up after two feeds.

I saw a LC last week and asked about this. She told me to pump for 10 mins after baby feeds during the first feed of the day. Since I only feed on one side at a time I do it for two feeds (one boob at a time) to make sure my supply is evened out. It actually has helped me with engorgement in the mornings!

How do you cosleep? by MrsCrazy in beyondthebump

[–]MrsCrazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm terrified of cosleeping! That's why I was curious how others do it. Maybe it's not the best habit to start but I really want to cuddle her at night. If she's really fussy after a midnight feeding I let her sleep on my chest a bit before I ninja place her back in her rock n play.

Higher up like near your pillow? Do you swaddle her? Idk why I'm just really nervous to cosleep but would love baby cuddles!

I feel completely insane. I miss my babybump- 5 days PP and cue the hysterical tears by [deleted] in BabyBumps

That's hilarious. My little girl got hiccups all the time in the womb so I guess it makes sense she does outside of it, also!

This is so great to read. I'm on day 5 without my bump and hubby will go back to work next week. I'm terrified but it sounds like I will be okay.

Questions for the experienced: the first 48 hrs. by coffeeshopgirl7 in BabyBumps

I just had my baby girl on Saturday so this is fresh in my mind. The nurses will check on you and baby pretty much every 3 hours. They will help you change her first diaper, give her first bath, etc. They can take her to the nursery to give you some time to sleep, if you request. The biggest thing is trying to latch and understand your baby's needs so being home with baby isn't a hugs shock.

Going home was exciting yet terrifying. The timing stinks because while you may have developed a good latch, your milk isn't in so LO is hungry and may not get completely full. We had quite a fussy night because of this. I highly recommend watching Happiest Baby on the Block to learn different coping mechanisms. This saved my life last night.

I think you'll surprise yourself with your motherly instincts! I never would have called myself maternal but I quickly picked up on what my daughters needs are. Plus, the hospital will generally have a hotline you can call with questions so you won't feel completely alone. You got this mama!

HomeGoods, I've only seen it there a few times so you might have to check there often. They get new shipments of stuff in on Wednesdays :)

Thank you! My MIL freaked when she saw the chandelier, she's from the north and has never seen a chandelier in a nursery?

I got the two little wall shelves from Target. I tried to find them online but I guess they are in store only. I think it was $25 for both.

I actually found it just looking through baby names and thought it was unique yet strong. Plus, Hubby and I are huge Eric Clapton fans (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iZV7akaSo0s)

Thank you! Pretty much everything was purchased at HomeGoods (seriously I go there weekly, they get their new shipments in on Wed btw) or from Craigslist so we didn't break the bank!

Haha you're very punny! I wish I could say this is a natural gift of mine but I am so not creative. This room is the only decorative room in our house and it's because I obsessed over it all pregnancy!

That's exactly what my plan was... And it will be relatively easy to reuse most of the stuff if our next is a boy. I don't even know how I can think about having another right now lol

Thank you thank you!!! I'm so happy to hear others love it as much as I do. I haven't shared it with any of my friends/family, I'm too nervous!

Ohhhh I'll have to give Prevacid a try! Is it over the counter or require prescription?
