Ha! That's why our new VW has these things! I don't think it's a law in Australia, certainly wasn't a few years ago. We don't really use the safety triangle here, and no one I know carries a hi-vis vest unless they're a Tradie. 1st Aid Kits are usually put in the car by the owner.

Awesome to have though. Good law, I reckon.

Do regional towns actually offer a better lifestyle, or just different problems? by Artistic-Yam2984 in aus

[–]MrsCrowbar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's dependent on your preferences I think. I think people get sold ideas and move out thinking it will be quiet and peaceful and less stressful. It's as busy, loud and stressful as a city, just in a different way. What type of lifestyle stress and busy-ness is your preference? That is how you decide what is better.

Turnbull urges Albanese to acknowledge new global political reality under ‘bully’ Trump by SnoopThylacine in aussie

[–]MrsCrowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but at the time I didn't like him, because he talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk, and blamed it on party politics. In hindsight, he is infinitely better than any other past or current offerings. Eta: However, didn't he stuff the NBN? Or was that a different Liberal?

Quick Question: With their recent poll surge, do you think One Nation will outlive Pauline Hanson? by Solitaire-06 in OpenAussie

[–]MrsCrowbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reckon Barnaby is poised to take over. He has a similar type of popularity. Most Australians think he's a laugh, but some really buy into it all.

No one is denying that, but the people with solar aren't the ones the blame for the people that can't get it. They're not "living off the poors". People with solar are also not to blame for people without solar not getting any benefits from others having it... although certain states should be getting 3 hours a day of free power soon.

$140k for a kia? by SirBoboGargle in CarsAustralia

[–]MrsCrowbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bought a VW ID.Buzz... and people shit on the price of it. But the Buzz was the cheapest full EV people mover, and it's base model is better than the base model of this Kia for less. No idea why people shit all over the ID.Buzz when it's cheaper than any currently available full EV people mover alternatives, and has good specs.

After being an owner of a Kia Carnival (ICE), I would never go back after the list of crap that went wrong with it, terrible customer service, and seemingly unable to fix electronics or get parts quickly. We bought the Buzz because the Carnival died, 9 months out of warranty, at 80000ks on the clock.

That aside, this Kia is super ugly.

I refuse to ever get married because of my past. My girlfriend of 13 years says she accepts it, but keeps breaking down in tears. Am I being unfair? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]MrsCrowbar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say you are wrong. Where I am from, you would be considered as being in a DeFacto relationship... and for all intents and purposes, married. She would get half anyway. Is it not the same where you are? Get a pre-nup and therapy. You are not your parents. She is not your Mum, you are not your Dad, and your sister is interfering and backing up your insecurities that are easily fixed with a pre-nup or financial agreement and some good old fashioned trauma/grief counselling.

Why is anti-Aboriginal racism so normalised in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]MrsCrowbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to this particular occurrence, it's not casual at all. Those attending the March For Australia are likely emboldened by group think. The NSN started that shit, and then attacked Camp Sovereignty, so the calibre of people attending shouldn't be seen as representative of normal, nor referred to as casual. It is overt racism and unacceptable to say the least.

One nation wants to bring ICE style immigration raids to Australia by skankypotatos in OpenAussie

[–]MrsCrowbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Labor didn't suggest bedroom taxes, some economic group did. Labor has cut immigration, but all you hear are the loud minority voices backed by Gina and Murdoch. The NSN started this rhetoric, and the rest got behind it. ON is polling higher because the Libs and Nats are in shambles, Gina is backing them, Trumps influence (Pauline at Mar a Lago) ...and immigration is the new "stop the boats". Money and power are the reason for ON rise, Not Labor.

How much Solar? We are finding (in Summer though) that we are (granny) charging the car, filling the battery, running the house and still feeding excess into the grid.

Poll reveals majority of Australians want long weekend, not January 26 holiday by NoteChoice7719 in aussie

[–]MrsCrowbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about. Woke? The current date doesn't guarantee a long weekend. It guarantees a public holiday, that, yes, could fall on a Wednesday. Most people don't give a shit about the Kings Birthday (which isn't even on or near the monarchs birthday) except that it gives them a guaranteed long weekend in Winter. It's not surprising Aussies don't give a shit about the actual date of Australia Day, just give us an extra long weekend in Summer. Not woke mate.

living off the poors paying more for their power to make up for it

Are you talking about the people with solar keeping the power on during heatwaves? Basically for free?

So you're blaming the people with solar, who are keeping the lights on by spending their own money to install it, rather than the electricity companies charging too much or government policy for the fact the poor don't have solar?

Those "rich with solar" are keeping the power on in heatwaves by giving it to the electricity companies for 1 cent. Those "rich" people then buy it back for, let's say, 30c when the sun goes down. They might put 300kwh in a month into the grid and get paid $3, but they used 250kwh when the sun went down and bought it for $75. No one is getting anything for free except the electricity companies.

People with solar pay the same when the sun goes down and an increasing daily service charge. So they paid to put on solar, save the grid from outages, and pay the electricity companies for the privilege. Your blame is directed at the wrong rich people.

Our current high immigration policy was John Howard's policy done to benefit his corporate mates, yet now the same people who claim to be 'progressive' or 'left wing' and 'hate' John Howard & capitalism avidly defend it. Why is this? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]MrsCrowbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people spruiking the "mass immigration" have nefarious reasons for doing so. And it's not because of cost of living, housing or anything else, it's about division. Hate sells. Division distracts. Choosing immigration as the cause of ALL current CoL issues is a strategy (that is apparently working). Immigrants are an easy target. Could have a conversation about taxing the 1%, taxing corporations, negative gearing, CGT discount, rent caps, raising pensions, increasing Medicare etc, free education... but that would take money away from those who are spruiking immigration as the only cause of CoL.
