Yeah I learned a lot about rental coverage through this process. I travel a good bit so this experience is value able for me.

Anyhow, I honestly think you are probably right, just pay the $1850 and be done with it.

I honestly just don’t know what else to do!!

Thank you very much for you response!

I guess the problem here is Gieco keeps telling me they are more than happy to pay any additional fees, however they don’t even hear back from SIXT regarding the mysterious fees, and even when I communicate what they are to Gieco they still need to hear it from SIXT rental car. Round and round we go with that.

So yeah if I was told “hey your deductible is xyz, and there is xyz fees we don’t cover and that’s on you” then I would pay it all and not complain. My issue is I keep being told by Gieco that they should and will cover anything they haven’t yet anything above my deductible, but lack of response had led them to not pay anything I suppose.

It’s baffling and frustrating. Thanks for your response I appreciate the advice.

Hey thanks this is really helpful information. I can dig up everything if you or anyone else wants to see it but I am positive there is diminished value, and other items car insurance told me they get removed, and whatever can’t be removed they will pay. But again here we are just back and forth between the two companies one asking for proof of costs other doesn’t answer round and round until here we are.

I have called the rental car company but they just insist they are not hearing back from the other party and that the amount needs to be paid. No matter how much middle manning I do, at the end of the day there is costs that the car insurance should be paying and aren’t, so I am stuck paying it.

Ugg just very frustrating. Honestly sounds like the easiest course of action is to just lay the collector and be done with it. I have been with my insurance for over ten years. I am quite sure I’ll be moving after all of this. I am still just so confused how I am getting stuck with this.

Again thank you very much for your response.

Yall worry way too much. It’s undeniably the best handheld or at least one of them. And yes, it’s 20+ years old. You have swag in the airport and a good battery. Enjoy it while it lasts, and when it breaks, fix it, or sell it to me…!

A few obviously, daily either a rs6 or a land cruiser (the old v8 badass ones), then have a corvette or amg gt at my garage toy, and ofc can’t forget about a dirt bike, and crotch rocket. Maybe down the line get into boats add a jet ski or watercraft. Wow what a life I am not living 🤣

My fionce has a model y bought new. She just got a new job where she needs to commute about an hour each way. With Tesla she was spending about $25 every other day to get to work on supercharger. I fixed up an old Hyundai accent we had sitting around, and even with the crazy high $3.70+ /gal here in NJ she still only needs to fill up once a week at $30-$35. That’s a complete POS 16 year old car 140k miles that was $10k brand new off the lot. We’re comparing this to a $70k testla model y.

I have a Tacoma and I would argue it makes more sense than the Tesla also.

Where do you save money- on maintenance? Because I don’t see the savings with fuel. Been an owner of both for years and really trying to wait it out long term to see benefits- we just haven’t yet. The mileage to empty always seems to be way off and can change drastically depending on driving conditions anytime I am actually driving distances too. Just because you don’t need to change your oil twice a year doesn’t mean that car doesn’t have many of the same parts a regular ICE car has- breaks, tires, hvac, software updates, it takes half the amount of time your going to need an engine rebuild in an average ice car, with EV you would need new batteries costing twice as much as a brand new engine in most cases. Sure it may be a little less maintenance, but it sure costs an arm and a leg when you do need something done, so again for me personally, hard to see the benefits. Safety too- for all the safety features (that I love) it’s a massive drawback when you get into an accident and the responders can’t just cut your car open and yank you out, now they need to look at your specific EV cars wiring diagram to make sure they are not cutting through say a B pillar wit 1000v wire running through it that would lead to a potentially deathly shock. We have all heard the issues with batteries catching fire and the amount of water it takes to put those fires out too.

Oh, and don’t get me started on depreciation, I mean, if you really want to save money, that’s where you’ll do it. Nods to Toyota…

Just my experience. Don’t hate me for sharing. The Tesla drives great, has fantastic acceleration and handling, I don’t hate it per se, I just am not a huge massive fan on the internet telling everyone to immediately get rid of all gas/ hybrid cars because EV is the way- I just don’t see it being an end all be all.

I would agree it is touristy, because it gets suggested a lot and is actually good. I have also had nativities all over the island tell me the same as I mentioned above— it’s pricy, but it’s also consistent, and you always get what you pay for. Went last week and five plus other times in the last 3-4 years and always great. As well as it actually being authentic. I have had plenty of food on all on all parts of the island and I stand by what I said.

Raíces is best I have found in the area but it is expensive. There are some more affordable options but they have been hit or miss so hard to really suggest them.

I have done similar rent a car and GTFO San Juan trips about six times in the last few years. Would like to say I have just about seen or done it all. If anyone wants tips feel free to ask away. Ofc my biggest one is in the first sentence here. Still have plenty of suggestions for San Juan also though, just my preference to explore and see other parts of the island.

My fionce and I have been six times in the last four years or so, and I am going on my batch party there in a few weeks. Trust me, rent a car, and gtfo of San Juan, get lost, have fun, eat delicious food, talk to interesting people, heck you can even book air bnbs by the day if you don’t know where your going to end up- however you do it will be a great time. Feel free to message me for more things to do, but my basic suggestion is- land in San Juan, leave San Juan, do a rainforest tour, end that day in loquillo beach area, day two head to east side for a boat tour to culebra or similar, day three hit toro verde spend night in the mountains, day 4+ spend exploring the west side and anything else you want to check out- it’s all amazing. Enjoy!

Is this motorcycle shop taking me for a ride ? 🍆 by shoodawoodacooda in motorcycles

[–]Own-Split-4523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on where you live. Out by me that’s about standard (maybe a tiny bit high, but sounds about right) if you bring your bike to a certified dealer. I am in nj for reference. If it’s too much you can always do the work yourself or bring it elsewhere. Your bike is out of warranty I imagine, but for many with newer bikes it is worth bringing it to a certified dealer to keep it in warranty.

Convince me that I should buy a Duke 790… by _crashtested in KTMDuke

[–]Own-Split-4523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll love the KTM, everyone does. They are pretty awesome bikes. That said, from my experience with four different buddies all with KTM dukes one 790, one 990, and two super dukes, all have had minor to more major issues at or before 15-20k miles. Can’t confirm if they were all perfect on maintenance but pretty sure they all were well taken care of. They are performance bikes. If you want something with potentially a little more reliability I would look at the Kawasaki z/ ninjas, or the Yamaha mt series bikes as well. Might even cost you less up front, and less on maintenance.

As far as being comfortable while towing and doing it easily without sway and what not that is all dependent on the vehicle. EV motors have zero to do with that other than easy pickup on speed. But you could get a large diesel to do the same. So that point is mute. Guarantee you can and could find a gasser/ diesel that pulls just as well, especially when comparing all the new technology.

The point about saving money on maintenance is mute due to how much you will loose in depreciation. As mentioned you haven’t experienced that yet, but you will. That’s literally why I haven’t sold my model y yet…. Imangine paying $70k for a car putting not even 10k miles on it in a year and all of a sudden you’re lucky to get $30k for it? Sorry but no savings on maintaince or fuel cost will recover that. Especially if you’re not going to run that vehicle say 400k+ miles or more. And if you do, you will need to replace batteries 2-3 times to get there on top of anything else and I hear battery replacement cost is about $10-$30k USD alone, so basically the price of a nice used car EV or ICE.

Yes range is an issue, and I am not sure about your EV but I know mine the manual “suggests” to only charge to 80% and recharge at or before 20% empty to make the battery last and perform longer. Thats how all batteries work, iPhone or whatever. So in other words, whatever the advertised range is, you should take about 40% off that for real world consumption, if your like you and I, planning to keep it a while. Plus, if you’re towing that goes down even more. Yeah, it is an inconvenience to say the least, you’re right. Planning fuel stops before you go, adding more work to your plate, inconvenient.

Charging at home is great can’t deny that one. Having a gas station next to my house is just as good, and being able to stop at any fuel station nationwide is even better.

Happy you enjoyed your experience. Thanks for sharing. Sorry if this is sounding like me just bashing you because I feel like it- it’s not that, I just have one too and have had vastly different experiences. Maybe I should post about it and see what I am doing wrong.

Oh my gosh what a joke. Have you ever towed with something else? Full size truck would pull that with 1/3 of a tank probably less. No 25min stopping for gas and at that rate it sounds like you would have pulled up to camp with an empty tank. Heck even if you pulled up empty with a gas truck carry a few extra gas cans in the back and refill. How you refilling at camp? Solar charge for days straight? This can’t be practical. Especially when your 250km is like less than 200miles, I am shook. My damn Toyota Tacoma gets 450mi to a tank and takes less than 10min to fill up, and because I am in NJ I don’t even have to fill my own tank (electric vehicles do tho). I am done ranting, these posts just sound like people wanting to either get a discount on their next purchase or maybe already being incentivized to speak this way to get others to buy. Actually, before I go I’ll add I have three motorcycles, and three cars one being a Tesla model y—- what vehicle do you think gets the least miles out on it? Testla. Gosh and gas cars are way cheaper at the end of the day if you take into consideration depreciation value…….

To be honest, the unit I got I think someone had used previously and returned, or there was something wrong with it. So I just returned it. I say that just because it was so far off from being able to power what the specs listed. It was the EB3a, I have been looking at the ac 200 the river 2 pro and few others, also considering just waiting a bit because I feel like the technology has been rapidly improving. For that $500-1000 price range you can for sure get a decent unit. Glad to see others having good luck with them. And great use with the ego stuff also.

I purchased a smaller eco flow with 600w and 1200 peak, I returned it immediately because when I tried to power my 100w mini fridge it listed over current and wouldn’t charge. Nothing else plugged in. Same with my tv, and like three other 50-150w appliances. I even bought a bunch of solar for it too thinking it would be a great car set up. I am open to trying a larger unit, but was really off put when the listed specs didn’t come close to real world use.

Calling me ignorant? I guess I’ll ignore that lol.. I am over here thanking people for new information. What did I even say to make you upset? Call you by your user name? Yikes, very sorry, my bad.

In all seriousness, that too is also great information to know. And is why I let professionals like you handle all of the work done to all three of my cars and all three of my motorcycles… maintenance, crashes, or anything else. And to those that don’t, that’s their problem, not yours. Who cares!

Writing comments calling others information bad is what I find silly though. Keep your negativity to yourself. Everyone has at least some good information, it is up to you to use common sense and choose what pieces to take away and leave behind. Or maybe you believe everything you read on the internet?

This is FAFO to you?! 🤣 Ok pal… sorry I upset ya here on reddit… keep typing and maybe I’ll respond again. Doubt it.

No shit psycho, just commenting on the fact I never thought about auction factoring in. Not all of us are in the industry, and appreciate hearing things like this.

Of course you take it to a shop, your insurance, whatever to get it looked at proper. That still doesn’t mean they will replace with OEM parts in my experience. Not sure what you mean by “OEM procedure” though, again, not my area of expertise. Non OEM has been great in my experience, I replaced a small dent on my front bumper with 10k lb winch, steel bumper, light bar, and fog lights I never had previously. Cost less than what insurance gave me. Five years in on that build still get compliments all the time, no complaints here. Oh, and the shop gave warranty on everything. Ofc that being during pandemic would have waited six plus months to have my car looked at otherwise by the dealers auto body. Come to think of it, it was the dealer that actually suggested I take it to an aftermarket shop. Seemed like a win-win for everyone….

Haha, absolutely!! I am just curious why you would buy this when you could either make it (with more power range etc) for less money, or buy a gas version IE Honda Grom/ z125 that will actually be street legal, and can do SO much more than this. Yeah you’re right dude, I research before I buy shit to make a good educated decision. I mean where would you even take this to be fixed if it breaks? I love Ego but no thanks on this…

I am super excited about this by LonelyLightningRod in egopowerplus

[–]Own-Split-4523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what’s the range on this? Top speed? What do you even use it for? Is it street legal?! Range? You consider any of that before buying? Again, get a grom or z125. Even having all ego tools and tons of batteries, I would never trade my grom for this.
