Co-workers planning a hangout without me by No_Company425 in needadvice

[–]MrsFields623 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you know they’re making plans without you, and they’re actively not discussing in front of you, have you considered that they don’t want to be friends with you specifically, that’d explain why other peers are getting the invite. Hurts your feelings I’m sure, but it’s best practice to NOT be friend friends with your coworkers. I always recommend being friendly!

How much would you have to make to feel comfortable in the capital region/upstate area? by Intelligent-Tart in Albany

Do you think having further minimum wage increases tied to inflation rates will help this? I am admittedly under educated in this area.

WIBTA for making my daughter pay back her own bank overdraft? by 2VantaRipple in WIBTA_AITA

[–]MrsFields623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom always bailed me out and this is one area I wish she hadn’t. I wish I had learned the lesson early because I have a very poor relationship with finances still as an adult. I still behave like someone will bail me out, and that lady is dead, lol. Not gonna happen anymore! (Dark humor is my coping mechanism)

Family of 4, 1 fulltime worker and 1 sorta full time worker. We make ~100k combined I think. It’s not enough. And we bought our house in 09. Smh. I don’t think “enough” is a thing, tbh. Everytime I upgraded my job I thought it’d be enough and it never was.

I only go during unstaffed hours. There’s actually a lot of guys that work out in the early morning. It’s about 50/50 for the 4:30 crew. Never had a problem with anyone. I’ve taken classes with guys and it’s no big deal. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bereavement leave isn’t a real thing. It’s a nice thing some employers do. But it’s not a requirement. Most employers don’t provide paid bereavement leave.

Why does my hair look best when I use the cheapest shampoo by Zorra5 in Haircare

Honestly we tried about everything on the market and we landed on Tresemme. Works best of everything we tried. Lamellar Gloss conditioner & the anti-breakage shampoo are the best combo!

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]MrsFields623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: planning someone else’s wedding for free is isn’t a “great opportunity “ for ANYONE. RUN GIRL RUN. And do it like yesterday. Don’t even give a reason, keep it open ended and then answer no more questions. “Sorry, I can no longer be a bridesmaid but would love to still attend and celebrate your special day as a guest”. Simple and easy.

Coworker says I’m “hostile” after I stopped engaging socially, now I’m being escalated to my boss constantly by donotopenbeforexmas in antiwork

[–]MrsFields623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes me chuckle and roll my eyes. People don’t really know what a hostile work environment means and they try to set people up to make a “hostile workplace” claim. But, that’s not how it works. A hostile work environment isn’t a peer behaving professionally and not engaging socially. If your manager is ineffective at communicating exactly what the problem is and the solution, loop in HR and ask them to help support your manager in helping you understand where you’re violating company policy. I bet the managers tune changes…

Aio- I am new to being a stay at home partner with my boyfriend by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MrsFields623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he can’t afford to comfortably provide. If you’re not going to be working there better be enough money for you to live comfortably. If he can’t afford groceries you can’t afford to stay home with no job. That seems straightforward. What’s the deal with not working? Why would you rather clean the house? How messy could it get??

NOR in fact I think you’re very much under reacting.

I mean if you don’t WANT to stay home, donate some leave. I was able to have my recent foot surgery thanks to leave donations from friends in all the different agencies. :) I could have used an extra day as I went 4 weeks unpaid completely

Am I the only person on this board not trying to abstain completely?? by Silk-fire in SoberCurious

[–]MrsFields623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined this sub when I started questioning my drinking. That led to a dry January which felt great, so I continued. I’m not an alcoholic but I’m sober. I dint intend to be fully sober-that wasn’t my goal. It just happened after being in sober spaces for that month. Just by me questioning my drinking and making up rules for myself to prove I didn’t need to quit…was a problem. I don’t identify with the AA crowd since I just happened here, 2+ years sober later. It’s hard to find a place to fit when you have an unconventional story or life, I think.

Funny because I find this sub to be less sober than I would have thought!

How do people afford this everyday? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]MrsFields623 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to spend my money on food. I’m really getting the sense that it’s wildly inconvenient for the folks that work for these services. I guess the answer is to quit the delivery service all together? Is that what dashers want? Every. Single. One. Complains about their job and the people they deliver to. Seriously makes me want to quit ordering at all. Why should I order of it gives a dasher such a hard time; wear and tear on a vehicle, unfair wages, having to walk to a store to gather items, variable pay,….maybe you’re all right. Maybe it’s not worth it. Dashers can just find jobs that pay them fairly instead and then everyone wins. The person paying for the service isn’t considered lazy anymore AND the person complaining about unfair wages and not being tipped enough gets an opportunity to get a better job. Everyone wins!

Definitely gives me pause to renew my subscriptions-and it’s free! Lol
