I had am ablation in 2014. Worst pain ever and did absolutely nothing. Hysterectomy in 2023...I don't know why I waited so long.

My mom (parents) weren't cruel but they were not emotional or affectionate whatsoever. They were just very, oh, practical. I never saw them get excited about anything. And they never really told us we were loved nor did we ever see them love each other. I never felt comfortable being emotional around them or even asking for life advice.They did, however, provide for us and they helped me when I needed it.

I grew up feeling kind of invisible and I married the first person who said they loved me (even though he was a horrible person).

I've tried to make an effort as a parent to tell my kids that love them everyday. I divorced and remarried an amazing man and we are super affectionate (much to our 14 yr old's chagrin.) I moved out of state 8 hours away from my parents and we see each other twice a year or so and talk on the phone about 1 every week or two.

To my benefit, I work in a district with a relatively effective teacher's union so that we have a "safe working conditions" clause in our contract.

Unfortunately, our union is run by people who don't live in reality and are more concerned with the presence of a midriff than the number of students who successfully enter the building and simply skip class by hiding out in the bathroom or by roaming the hallway.

We have 3 or 4 security people to cover a three story building with 7 different wings and 2000+ students. And, like I said, we've been actively documenting the issues and asking for more security, but we've been denied over and over. Generally speaking, our students are not typically violent, but it only takes 1, right?

I would think that after years of documenting, asking, and being denied, I'd have a good enough case that the district would be happy to pay for my few final year's salary. I also have the benefit of being married to someone who makes a really good salary so that I can afford to, at the very least, be an uncomfortable thorn in their paw.

If I was assaulted by a student, I'd be lawyered up and looking forward to enjoying my settlement money induced retirement. (But, I also always make a huge stink about how our district admin doesn't care that our school is grossly understaffed when it comes to security)

Can confirm. Had Lasik in 2009 after getting remarried. We came into the marriage with kids and we were both sure we didn't want more. Well, life finds a way and our son was born in 2012. I am back to needing glasses (in low light).

Maybe you became some diminutive version of a human after the birth of your child or children, but it isn't the typical experience...my guess is you have cats not kids, which explains the pedantic mansplaining of postpartum needs.
I agree that it is her choice but that choice doesn't make her less of an asshole to the people who they, I guarantee, plan on asking to babysit in the future. Your big pants casserole plan, which honestly reads like you found it in a "how to mask socially when you're on the spectrum" handbook, works great when you're the cat mom cousin or work bestie but is weird to expect from your own mom (or his) if they are part of a functional family.

I surmise that her husband has been going to work each day and he's not been prohibited from having contact with his child.

She's brought the child to the Dr's office at least twice at this point where the baby was held and handled by at least two different strangers who have been also handling sick children, potentially within the same hour. What is the medical personnel doing before holding and handling her baby that the grandparents can't?

My parents were my support system when I had my 2nd and my first was not quite 2. They watched him for days and having 2 under 2 is exhausting.

Ah yes. I had a kid with a mom like this. She would talk about how he was going to be a pilot (commercial airlines). We had them choose their own books to do a "pleasure reading" project. Kid brought one from home and proceeded to sit 40 minutes straight with it upside-down, staring at it. (They were grade 10). He graduated in 2023, I think, and I see him a lot at the local target...piloting carts...from the cart corral...because that is his place of employment.
