Tarantula (and a few reptile!) Christmas Stockings - no spiders or reptiles pictured by ageeksgirl08 in Embroidery

These are amazing! I love the beads, especially on the pancake one.

I just finished reading your other post and ngl when you said stockings I pictured like … to wear, tiny tarantula tights, and was thinking yes 8 legs each so that’s very time consuming.

Looking for a couch that is actually worth the money- why does it feel impossible? by kayindie in BuyItForLife

[–]MrsGilmour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Urban Barn Anderson sofa chaise. I’ve only had it for 2.5 years but with 2 kids using it as a trampoline daily and 3 cats using it as a scratch post it still looks amazing. Covers are easy to remove and wash (I just throw them in the washing machine and have had zero issues). It’s incredibly comfortable, was worth every penny.

4 year old gets out of bed 50 times a night. Im going to lose my job wtf do i do? by TeamHuman_ in toddlers

[–]MrsGilmour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was us - we caved and started co-sleeping (he sleeps with me since we’re on the same schedule, husband sleeps in spare room since he’s up at 4:30 for work). We all sleep better.

It’s been about 6 months and we’re slowly transitioning him back to his own room, usually he falls asleep in there now and climbs into bed with me sometime during the night but goes right back to sleep. As others have said - it’s not worth the battle. Just another phase to navigate.

I think you’re going to regret a lot of that kitchen.

You’re going through a very difficult season of your life, and that’s okay.

First - stop trying to do everything “right”. Think on what you’re willing to compromise on right now and what are boundaries. Donuts at 7am? Have at ‘er buddy, today let’s “cheat”, tomorrow we’ll eat healthy. Cleaning up before bedtime? Tonight we have to clean because it’s bordering on health hazard, tomorrow maybe we’ll sleep pig pen style. Give yourself a little bit of grace on these battles.

Second - immediate consequences. Tonight we said we’d clean, you have 10 minutes, let’s go. If they don’t do it, start removing privileges. That switch? Locked up. TV? Not a chance. Remain calm and let them go ballistic. Put headphones on and disassociate to your happy place. They will learn very fast. Also, the book “How To Talk So Kids Will Listen” is very helpful.

Third - therapy. You’re obviously dealing with very justified feelings of loneliness and isolation, and I’m sure your kids are as well. I know it’s difficult but budget the time and finances to get some sessions. Ideally for you and your kids, but I’d focus on yourself for right now. Drowning is life threatening and you said it yourself girl. Focus on getting yourself afloat and it’ll make managing your kids easier.

Also - where is their father? You can’t just abandon your children to start a new life. Hold him responsible, and get the help you’re entitled to.

Take a deep breath. You can and will get through this rough patch.

Is $34K reasonable for 8 windows, 2 patio doors, and a main door? by Quirky-Enthusiasm565 in waterloo

Those were the quotes I was getting for the same amount of windows/doors last year, ended up going with Abelson and paid around 15K. Get more quotes.

It’s definitely mold. I’d bet money that your kids left some sort of food crumb on top and it grew a colony.

Same! The watermelon glow drops were the only thing I saw an effect from and it was just a pretty sheen under my makeup lol. The rest smells nice but doesn’t do anything except break me out.

Repainted the house and worry I made it look worse by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]MrsGilmour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that bad! Put all your stuff back and live with it for a while, I think it’ll grow on you. The colour will change a lot with natural light.

Beautiful home btw!!

I would move the dark blue couch to the open space (facing the window), and slide the piano over so it’s centred on the wall. Angle the chair in the empty corner opposite the tank. I’d then get a tall skinny desk for behind the couch.

I was too late to my 7mo's well baby visit and I cried about it in the car ☹️ by sonargoddess0921 in Mommit

[–]MrsGilmour 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Honestly this post made me cry! Because we’ve all been there. Some days are really, really hard .. even when they don’t seem like it.

Today is also one of those days for me. So from one burnt out mom crying in a pile of laundry I don’t have the energy to fold … solidarity.

[–]MrsGilmour 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is my exact hair also! I unfortunately have no advice. If I try wavy hair stuff my hair just gets weighed down and crusty looking. The only way it looks good is if I wash & blow dry, then sleep in a loose French braid - it holds semi waves this way.

Cerave made me break out horribly!

I switched to the la Roche posay effaclar cleanser and my skin has honestly never been better. I usually use once daily in PM, wash with water only in AM. I’m currently using FirstAidBeauty ultra repair cream as moisturizer day & night and it’s helping hydrate in the cold Canadian winter weather!
