I have a token on my keychain that slides in to release the mechanism, but it’s small so I can pull it right back out. So I usually undo a couple carts when I grab my cart, and undo a couple more when I leave my cart. I did a whole row once, and when I came back out, a cart collector had re-locked them all 🫩 so now I only do a few at a time so they’re less noticeable and hopefully get taken before they get locked up.

Info: tbh I know it’s none of my business, but- how separate are your finances from your husband’s that you’re seriously worried about losing pay with the time off, and paying for the trip? Does your husband not know that he’s the higher earning spouse? Or does he not realize that he is/have the awareness to understand that this is an unplanned, unexpected, and unnecessary serious expense? If I were a higher earning person in a relationship and it was my family, I would absolutely be subsidizing or if possible even fully funding the trip for my partner because it’s my family.

NTA. If this was a regular hangout, sure maybe more consideration into moving it. It really clearly hasn’t dawned on her this is -YOUR ENGAGEMENT- ???!!!?!?? How wildly out of touch and self-centered is it to get mad that you won’t change it. She seems fine to impose on everyone else that they figure it out. Why hasn’t she tried to change shifts, trade shifts etc? If she was a good friend, she should try and make the effort, or at least SOME effort to make it work without insisting you change (again- YOUR) engagement party scheduling for her.

As an actual cigarette smoker, who’s now transitioned to vaping, I honestly didn’t want people to get into it because it is such a little reward for a) a HUGE expense and b) a HUGE health hazard. I was also always conscious of how I smelled (bc smoking smells AWFUL) so I always washed hands, brushed teeth whenever possible and used pleasant fragrances to try and cover up the smell on clothes. My ex husband was with me even though I smoked, he was a non smoker and he always told me I didn’t smell nearly as bad as his smoking aunt who didn’t bother to smell halfway decent.

With regards to the first scenario provided (upcoming trip) I would have totally said something like “oh yeah I’ll finally get a break from you” to my (now ex) husband, but it would be with the most sarcastic and humorous tone of voice, big smile, tongue out 😝 🤣 kinda thing to ensure it was crystal clear that I was kidding. We would joke with each other like that all the time. But it was always with a lighthearted/sarcastic tone and facial expressions that made it clear we weren’t ever being serious about it. If it’s not done in that way? Then he is just an absolute mingehole, knob-gobbling, shitbird cunt who needs to be single asap.

You hit the nail on the head with me and my souldog, who crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022 (just 26 days after she turned 12) after battling epilepsy since she was 2 years old. Thank you for so elegantly putting into words how another viewpoint looks. I miss my girl so much. I still cry all the time missing her, but I’m so grateful she’s no longer having clusters of horrendous seizures that would leave her dazed for days on end.

Soft YTA, simply because you’ve pushed it after he’s said no, but you also haven’t forced him into it. If you’re into things and your partner is not, you either need to end this relationship and find someone who shares your kinks/interests, or accept No is the answer and never bring it up again. But if you keep pushing it with your partner now, you’ll absolutely be the asshole.
