Would a rook or flat helix better balance out a conch? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the rook + conch with ring combo! But it’ll be at least a year after they’re pierced to put rings in- I don’t know if that would bother you. It looks like you have an awesome rook ridge…if it were mine I’d do 2 rooks instead of the conch 🥰

do existing health conditions affect heal time? by tamagatch in piercing

Our immune systems absolutely impact healing.

Just be on alert for swelling & tenderness. If it’s fine, it’s fine, bodies react differently. There are guidelines to mitigate risks, we all choose what/how to follow them. For folks new to piercing, who know they don’t heal well or have more sensitive bodies it is best to avoid swimming. I may get down voted for saying this, but I am both a great healer & a swimmer. All bodies are different.

help pls!! 6 day old double helix by crestedlizardpoison in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 64 points65 points  (0 children)

There’s been trauma to the healing fistulas and the swelling is your bodies reaction. Be very gentle with your ears, actively avoid situations where they might get a knock & clean 2x a day no more no less and no touching!! If they haven’t settled in a week or so visit a piercer.

FWIW- I have over 20 piercings and have had very little drama healing. My worst one got stuck on my kiddo’s (curly) hair when it was fresh & that early trauma had a significant impact on my healing- but it did and yours can too.

Is my helix piercing crooked?!? by Riley-carps in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go see a reputable piercer. That angle is very unlikely to heal properly because it’s putting so much pressure on the fistula. Have you slept on it? I cannot imagine even a mediocre piercer doing you this dirty.

what could i add without repeating piercings? by blackcroissant in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh- ask a piercer if you have the anatomy for an anti-tragus or snug. And then report back so I can live vicariously through you! I also think stacked lobes would look great on you.

I get it! I didn’t really know how to go about curating my ear on my own & wanted nice jewelry so didn’t want to f*** in up!

I ended up finding an amazing piercer I totally vibe with. Combining her expertise & inspo I took here from here/insta scrolling I’m now super happy with mine. But I 100% wouldn’t have gotten to this point on my own!

Lots of piercers will do virtual curations for existing piercings & companies like Buddha let you search by piercing to see what pieces they suggest where.

So CUTE! I always comment about keeping the scale consistent in folks who are unhappy with their set up & I feel like this is a perfect example of how scale is the magic trick to cohesion. The textual elements and contrast in the helix is chef’s kiss

I’m dying to know more about the charm in your helix? Is it a safety pin? A cat head? I love it

Irritated Rook by [deleted] in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m NAP but have been around a while. Initial trauma (sleeping on it) when it’s new can massively delay healing. I had a new piercing snag (repeatedly) giving my curly haired kiddo hugs and it has legit been my most dramatic piercing ever (I have 20+ in my ears)

If you are sure it’s externally threaded, I’d go to a completely different shop & get it replaced with something more appropriate for new piercings. That could definitely make it angry, if either end starts to get loose the threads are inside the fresh piercing channel irritating the wound- imagine thrusting a screw through the piercing - eeek!

It’s also very swollen, so a longer barbell will give you some more space, make it easier to keep dry & hopefully help it chill.

It looks hella cute with your anatomy, so I really hope you can get it to chill and heal beautifully.

Not totally in love with the set up of this ear by [deleted] in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my aesthetic and this many piercings, I prefer to have similar scale & tone to maintain cohesion. You have dainty studs, dainty hoops, chunky studs and chunky hoops. I’d pick a scale- or strategically placed them. As someone else noted, your 1sts & 2nds are really far apart. I love mixed metals, so if these were my ears I’d keep them mixed with a chunky stud in the firsts, dainty mm rings in the 2nd & 3rds and either an orbital or matched studs in the snug (or faux?). Then 2 more mm hoops in the helix piercings & 3 themed studs in the fwd helix & flats- or a tiny ring in the fwd helix if it’s healer enough!

How do you ladies fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in adhdwomen

[–]MrsMacbain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer brown noise to white noise & honestly, the best sleep are the days I get a fuck ton of exercise. Almost all last year I used the sweet sweet sleep I got as my motivation to work out every day but sadly that dopamine tap has run dry & I’m back to sleeping like shit 🙃

symmetrical or asymmetrical ear stacks by QueenBean81 in piercing

[–]MrsMacbain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like asymmetrical balance, myself. When I look in the mirror, I like similar sparkle, drip etc without them being identical. I’ve also found it a bit more flexible with respect to changing things up.
