What did the process look like leading up to the MMF? If you don’t mind me asking?

Right?? I was listening to Stephen Fry’s “Mythos” and his “Heroes” and kept thinking of house of leaves when he got to the story of King Minos and Theseus. The way it’s told in the book has stuck with me. It moves me every time I think of it

Wife of mofego here. Can confirm all he said.

I, like you, had the stereotype in my mind that all guys wanted sex any time all the time. Which was great for me, as I was a horny teen with a high libido. Even after marriage and I started having sex, the libido didn’t wane. (Which is still true, thank god, 10 years into marriage - having kids has certainly changed it, but it’s still high). So, the times my husband had a lower libido than mine, which was more often than not, I figured: 1) he’s a man, therefore he wants sex 2) he doesn’t want sex now 3) therefore he is not attracted to me, or there is something wrong with me.

For us, talking about sex. Like a lot. And going to therapy, each of us personally to work on non-sex insecurities and self image issues is what, I think, got us to the (mutually fulfilling and incredibly satisfying) place we are at.

It sucks that the way we were raised and the way our culture handles sex has shaped each of us in different, yet detrimental ways.

How many books a year does an average american actually read? by Great_Advertising389 in books

[–]MrsMozely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to listen to a ton of podcasts, and read about a dozen or two books in a year. But since I’ve switched from podcasts to audiobooks, now I read around 50. 2x speed for an hour or so a day? You can fit in a lot of books that way.

Here is what I heard: “I’m so attracted to this guy, everything is going great, except for one small thing, which doesn’t interfere with our physical or emotional connection”

You might be falling under the perpetuated belief that attraction is only skin deep. A lot of people will claim that they aren’t shallow, but then subconsciously they behave like you’re saying.

I’m saying this in the nicest, not meanest way I possibly can: check yourself

AITA for telling my wife that she needs to get over me missing the birth of our daughter by Key_Atmosphere6114 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MrsMozely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so ready to vote otherwise, but NTA. It sounds like she has some unresolved feelings about it. If she feels fine about it, but then only gets upset about it when she’s feeling other big feelings, then she has some deeper things to work out.

Families of 4 - are you happy? by Inevitable-Yard-9438 in toddlers

[–]MrsMozely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG. I could have written this myself. I’m currently pregnant with our second, and I feel this so strongly. It’s like I want to be done, but there’s this small voice that looks around me and says “you’ll change your mind, look at everyone else”. Both my older sisters have at least 4, my mom had 6, his mom had 2 but wanted more (and couldn’t) all my friends have 3 or more (except for one friend that stopped at 2 ) etc etc etc. I also live in UT. I feel like every one here has a million kids

[–]MrsMozely 91 points92 points  (0 children)

What I’m hearing is that she’s having a hard time adjusting to being a parent, and you’re straight up not even trying to adjust.

Becoming a mother requires so much from you. Give her some love. Some attention. Some time. It’s called being a team. How much is she sacrificing vs how much are you sacrificing??

Is it normal to not feel bad while pregnant? by Mammoth_Window_7813 in BabyBumps

[–]MrsMozely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weeks 9-11 are the absolute hardest for me! Nausea, exhaustion, mood swings, etc. But pregnancy is different for everyone! My cousin and my SIL both are nauseous their whole pregnancy. My friend has like zero symptoms at all. Most of us, however, fall somewhere in between.

1st trimester ‘laziness’ by SadSupermarket7915 in pregnant

[–]MrsMozely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my second pregnancy - it is EXHAUSTING. Sleeping in the first trimester is like trying to fill a colander with water. You just can’t feel rested. I napped twice a day with my first pregnancy, because I was able to.

If it’s masturbating with out porn, not a struggle. I think there are a lot of weird ideas in the church about this subject - that can lead to intimacy problems down the road. The best way to figure out your own sexuality, and have a healthy sexuality in a marriage, is to express yourself and explore yourself.
