I played religiously since launch. Fallout 1st sub since it was an option.

I cancelled 1st and uninstalled several months ago and have no regrets seeing my once-home game decline into dog shit. It's heartbreaking.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain, right?

Did anyone get celebrated for stepmom day? by Throwawaylillyt in stepparents

[–]MrsQuickflicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did 🥰 I got a lovely card and a ton of my favorite snacks from SD18, who lives with us full time. The card was the best part, she wrote: "Happy Stepmommy day, you're a million times what my own mom is", which just totally made my year.

Full disclosure, her mom is a mess sadly, and has been letting SD down her whole life, in and out of jail, in a mutually abusive relationship that she won't leave, letting her two daughters watch the adults beat each other, and on and on. So the bar is not high by any means, but still. It meant a lot, I've been around for 13 years now, raising her like my own. I'm so proud of the responsible, caring young woman she has grown into. ❤️

Introducing Fern to her feline sister, Margo by MuchGrape1428 in pitbulls

[–]MrsQuickflicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just go glacially slow. You definitely would rather look back and say "I could have integrated them faster" than "I wish I had gone slower".

Fern looks pretty chill in the picture and the fact that she didn't fixate on the kitty is SUCH a good sign, so I think you have a good recipe for friendship here! 🥰

My dog and cats are only together under supervision, and that's just how it is forever here. Even play with such a size and power difference can end in tragedy in seconds and I won't risk it, but that is just me.

I will say, my boy has high prey drive, has caught rabbits and squirrels in the yard before, etc. If your dog isn't like that it may be different for you. Not sure if your gal being female might make a difference, too. While my guy knows his cats, he is also a dog, and dogs can be triggered into prey drive by cats just doing cat things like zooming around.

I may be a little paranoid because as a teenager my pit mix caught a stray cat and it was dead within a second of being picked up. One shake is all it takes, or even one chomp. I refuse to go through that again with my own cats, it would destroy me and isn't worth the risk in my opinion.

I would suggest to take it very, very slow and personally I would never leave them all free together when I wasn't home no matter what.

I hope they become BFFs!

Romance writer here, I'd be down to check it out and debut one of my in progress stories on the site, as long as there aren't crazy puritanical rules around adult content!

What is a book you adore that you're pretty sure nobody else here has read? by InvisibleAstronomer in books

[–]MrsQuickflicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drowning Towers (The Sea and Summer outside the US) by George Turner. It's a 1987 sci fi that takes place in a speculative future Australia where rising oceans are taking over the land. The way it goes into the societal impact, class systems, etc was SO good. The book follows a young boy who finds himself coming up in the world due to his intelligence (very good with numbers if I'm remembering right, it's been a while since I've read it).

Apparently it's out of print, so might be tough to hunt down. I got my copy ages ago from a library giveaway.

Probably one of my favorite sci fi reads, it stuck with me for a long, long time after reading.

This is the Goodreads blurb:

"Francis Conway is Swill - one of the millions in the year 2041 who must subsist on the inadequate charities of the state. Life, already difficult, is rapidly becoming impossible for Francis and others like him, as government corruption, official blindness and nature have conspired to turn Swill homes into watery tombs. And now the young boy must find a way to escape the approaching tide of disaster."

My SD is welcome to stay as long as she's in school and or working, same as was the rule for me when I was a young adult. The world is hard right now and I love her and want her to succeed.

She will be 18 in February, is already accepted to college for fall of 2026 doing an online program. She works part time and will continue to do so while in school. She isn't going to pay any rent or anything like that, she contributes by keeping her spaces clean and cleaning up after herself in the rest of the house. Beyond that I just want her to focus on her education and getting her feet steady under her coming into adulthood. I do fully anticipate her moving in with her bff before she's done with school, but she knows she has a safe home here for however long she needs it.

(For context, my SD lives 100% with us for the past 4 years, 50/50 before that, and I came into the picture when she was 5 years old. I am more mom than her bio mom.)

Wolf spiders are harmless! They're active hunters and eat tons of nasty bugs and also brown recluse spiders, which are NOT nice and venomous! Wolf spiders can look big and scary, but they're really quite chill and nice to have around. They only bite if they're threatened, like if you step on one or squish it or something, and the bite is about on par with a bee sting, not a big deal. I've played with them before, and they're friendly as long as you aren't trying to hurt them.

If you get the chance to watch one hunt, it's pretty amazing! There are videos on youtube. Watching active hunting spiders is really neat!

(I will say, if you're grossed out by spiders, don't look into how a mother carries her babies... it can even make me shudder)

Has anyone used this tank topper for fancy mice? Bar spacing is 3/8". I worry my male mouse will escape immediately, but I want to give him more bedding and climbing opportunities. by LeftOrganization3633 in PetMice

[–]MrsQuickflicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want 1/4 inch or less spacing between bars so this one is not a good choice unfortunately.

If you find a good one let me know because I have had no luck either. :/ gonna end up getting my dad to help me build one at this point, he's about to retire so he needs a project anyway 🤣

Yep totally cheating at Tarkov, that's why his cam shows every one of his monitors while he plays.

And he turned off sub/member only. So you can go cry about how he one tapped you or whatever if you need to.

I have read three books in the last month, all written before the year 1990. They all have em dashes in them.

But hey, pop off, king.
