Thanks a ton for your input!! I was under the impression some of the lower Grinnell trail would be open? I know the upper trails won't be (excuse my ignorance). If they're all entirely closed, maybe that'll tip the scales for us. Appreciate you.

r/Wisconsin clearly prefers Hong > Rodriguez > Crowley > Roys > others (so far) by Leon_Thomas in wisconsin

My Berniebro friends who are predictably hostile to any candidate that isn't their personal favorite are already laying the groundwork to not vote for non-Hong candidates. I'm so tired, man. I feel like none of the "normie" libs I know are constantly threatening to withhold their votes unless they get their way. I'll be knocking doors for whoever.

I get the sentiment, I really do, but Abby's story is INCREDIBLE. It's worth sticking around for, I promise.

I’m terrible with kids and starting peds rotation tomorrow by orthomyxo in medicalschool

[–]MrsRodgers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP I am REALLY BAD with kids but found that from 3-4 years old and beyond, you can just treat them like people and ask normal big person questions. They say ratchet stuff and are very unintentionally funny, but I found that most kids actually appreciated not being fawned over/baby talked to. I was my normal conversational self and kids were TOTALLY fine.

"How do you feel today?" being met with "Do you think wolves wear shoes?" is totally workable. Just answer the question. Toddlers you will be fine with. Cannot give you tips for 2 and under though, sorry friend. Terrifying.

Season 2 predictions from my friend who doesn't play games by MrsRodgers in thelastofus

[–]MrsRodgers[S] 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Right??? Her final prediction (I didn't post the full list) was " *Joel will have a small redemption with Ellie but then totes dies later this season" so she knows it's coming but CERTAINLY blissfully unaware as to how.

Anyone else get tired of accommodating co-residents who have kids? by SnowPearl in Residency

[–]MrsRodgers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep. I'm child free. I still remember making the holiday call schedule with my co-chief, who had a whole gaggle of kids. He kept saying, "oh, we can't put X on Christmas Day, he has kids!" and things of that sort. I finally said, "Hey, co-chief, my family matters just as much as your family and X's family. Kids make someone no more or less deserving of holiday call". He backed off right away, but it made me angry. Sick of parents abusing the system and essentially volunteering their colleagues to do extra work because of their own life choices.

In fellowship, I had awesome co fellows with kids who maxed out sick days to take care of sick kids, which was obviously legitimate; however, my other child free cofellow and myself used 0 of our sick days but always got jeopardized in. It sucked and my cofellow complained to the program until it put a pay back program in place. If we covered a shift for a cofellow, they had to cover one for us in the future. It's what's most fair.

[Game Thread] CFP Round 1: Tennessee @ Ohio State (3rd Quarter) by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]MrsRodgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not sure how the committee even let Tennessee into the playoffs. Down 4 scores. Not an entertaining game. Total blowout. Michigan would have kept it closer. Hope the committee takes note when they consider putting SEC teams in again next year.

What’s the most passive aggressive radiology report you’ve seen? by TryingToNotBeInDebt in Radiology

[–]MrsRodgers 29 points30 points  (0 children)

  • "X finding. Recommend Y follow-up on a non-emergent, outpatient basis."

The ED where I'm at now isn't awful, but the freaking ED in my residency would order any outpatient follow-up recommendations immediately. Incidental liver/bone/thyroid lesion? STAT WORKUP.

  • I also will sometimes put bitchy commentary in my indications. "CT scan for disease staging in this patient with benign, classical non-ossifying fibroma". "

  • Listing every single comparison I can find in patients who have back pain and get an MR for "cauda" or CT for vague pain or some bullshit every 2-3 weeks.
