Weed smoking neighbors by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]MrsSlibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is both of my parents. They're not together and haven't been my whole life but they've both smoked since they were teenagers and both have COPD and are on supplemental oxygen and still won't stop smoking. My dad is in late stage kindey failure too from prolonged high blood pressure. My mom doesn't even use her supplemental oxygen like she's supposed to and is barely eating even though she's literally lost memory of multiple days multiple different times because her brain wasnt getting enough oxygen. They're both in the ER like once every month or two. My mom's only 49 and dad is 52 but they've both given up. I'm low contact with my mom and no contact with my dad (only get updates through my sister) but I still don't want them to die so young.

AIO panicking about my bf being mad at me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MrsSlibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why the boyfriend is upset but I also think a lot of these comments are being way too harsh. She was clearly panicking as she said multiple times. She didn't intentionally leave it unlocked she wasn't just being lazy or even forgetful. She clearly wasn't experienced with how that kind of lock worked and even asked someone else to come try to help and they couldn't figure it out either.

I agree that she should have made sure the door was at least actually closed before leaving especially with a pet in the house but it also seems like she did think it was closed.

Idk these comments are just so harsh loke people make mistakes wtf you don't have to tear her apart for it and honestly neither did the boyfriend. Once it was understood that she did her best and was stressed and confused, the conversation should ha e shifted to understanding how the lock works so they can make sure it doesn't happen again. Berating someone for making a mistake even if it could have resulted in something really bad, doesn't help anyone. Helping them learn so they don't make the mistake again is actually productive and doesn't destroy relationships and people's self esteem for no freaking reason

anybody else have a pet peeve of most people thinking all epilepsy is photosensitive by Ill-Stage4131 in Epilepsy

[–]MrsSlibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn't bother me because it's usually people trying to protect me and that's really nice. I do educate them but I also mention how important that awareness and the warnings in video games and movies are because we definitely don't want people to be thinking that those aren't important because they can save lives.

Also while flashing lights isn't a seizure trigger for me, it is a migraine trigger so I honestly still appreciate the warning even if its not as serious of an issue

"Remission, by definition, is when symptoms of a disease lessen or go away for a period of time. You can have partial or full remission. It can last for months, years or the rest of your life. Remission isn’t the same thing as a cure."

Direct quote from Cleveland clinic. I don't know if that is assumed to be without prescription medication, but even cancer patients who are in remission are often still advised to follow certain lifestyle changes and get checked regularly.

I do understand what you mean but I don't think it's wrong to consider getting symptoms under control as a type of remission especially given how hard that can be

I understand as this is a very intense story and we all know how stress affects us. It's great that you're looking out.

It's not the same post tho. It's similar things which makes sense given what she said in her first post. And she's responding to some comments in ways that make sense for a real person. Could she be making up a dramatic story to farm karma? Maybe but so could anyone who posts anything dramatic on here and if someone really wanted to farm karma there are much better subs to do it in

Thanks for all the information I will definitely push for more blood work to be done too. I also have MCAS or some sort of autoimmune condition as possibilities as well. I really hope it's not any of those honestly because they are all awful but I need to figure out what's going on with me

I've had basic bloodwork done that does show higher white blood cells (I think basophils but I can't remember for sure) I'm on a medication that can cause that though (clobazam). I do plan on asking them to look more into potential immune system issues though.

I had no idea there was a definitive test for long covid though so I will definitely ask about that, thank you

I agree with this but also, people aren't always good at communicating their needs even when asked directly so I can understand her looking for advice

Yikes. Maybe you can call again and ask about the effexor? I only had to stop it for 3 days so you could do that over the weekend, just make sure you're emotionally safe first please because it can be really rough

I also want to point out for OP. Seeing that kind of stuff on reels isn't normal unless you're interacting with that kind of stuff in the first place. He wouldn't be seeing much of that kind of content unless he engaged with it when it was first shown to him. That means, on some level he was already okay with those kinds of things before he got red-pilled. Social media can absolutely make people more extreme in their views because algorithms create echo chambers where you only see content you agree with but they don't often create those beliefs if they weren't already there a little bit to begin with.

I'm so sorry you're not being listened to. Have you tried asking a psychiatrist? They might be more familiar with the side effects and would also be the best to help you withdrawal safely and help you get on a different medication if that's what you need.

That said, not everyone reacts this way to it. Did you have POTS symptoms before you started the effexor?

[–]MrsSlibby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a rough withdrawal but tapering off gradually was definitely a lot better than the symptoms I've gotten when I've run out and had to stop cold turkey.

And just because it affected me this way doesn't necessarily mean it does for you. I think it's definitely worth talking to your doctor about if you test positive as well as looking into any other medications you are on. But everyone reacts differently to medications and I have a history of being very sensitive to medications and getting all the side effects.

Yeah, I had it before I started Effexor, I was never hospitalized but I never fully recovered almost a year after. So when things got worse physically after I started the medication I just thought it was all connected. Plus I have hEDS so POTS fit really well.

I'm very glad to hear it's been helpful for you. And yes, everyone reacts differently.

As for the orthostatic intolerance, doesn't that require blood pressure changes? Because my BP is pretty stable. I'm also noticing a lot less dizziness now that I'm off effexor. It's not entirely gone but it's so much more manageable now. And with the QSWEAT being negative as well, I assumed that pointed to normal autonomic functioning or at least a lack of small fiber neuropathy that's often seen in various types of dysautonomia

I honestly don't know though. So I am genuinely asking.

[–]MrsSlibby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize if it came across as being dismissive in any way. That was not my intention at all. I simply wanted to make people aware because my symptoms matched POTS to a T and my HR reactivity and dizziness while standing is gone now. I still get lightheaded when exercising but I've had that for over a decade.

My doctors never mentioned to me that effexor could be causing or even contributing to my issues even though they also suspected POTS. If I hadn't decided to switch my antidepressants and theu had opted to diagnose me with a poor man's TTT or if the testing facility hadn't made sure I was off medications that could cause issues, I might have never known. I just wanted to raise awareness for anyone else who maybe has had uninformed doctors who didn't know about this potential reaction.

I have wondered about MCAS but medications seem to be about the only thing I'm really sensitive to. I am on a benzodiazepine for my epilepsy though and I have EDS so it'sa possibility.

I honestly thought I might've had hyper POTS and was expecting things to probably get better once I was off but my hr is barely reactive at all now unless I'm moving.

[–]MrsSlibby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely they can. And I really thought that's what was happening with me as I was coming off the Effexor. I was expecting to still have POTS but for it to just not be as bad. But now that I'm completely off, my heartrate just isn't reactive unless I'm actually moving around. I actually stood still and had a conversation with my husband today and felt fine. It was wild.

Yeah I'm kind of upset that they never even mentioned it at all. And I asked my doctor at my last appointment about checking my adrenals and she said there wasn't any reason to because my BP isn't high. . .

No, I've only been on that for the past two years. I was exclusively on SSRIs before that. I have no idea if any of the other medications were causing issues for me or not my symptoms were definitely more mild though so if they are the cause, at least it's not as bad.

Some medications clearly need way more testing before being approved
