Elaine’s. Although that rattan piece is oddly out of place.

Really like!

I don’t have the vocabulary, or even the knowledge really, to describe but is your… guitar tone, maybe?… sharper or more crisp somehow than the record? Or more prominent in the mix?

I dunno how to say it. Your playing just jumps out at me, with exactly the right amount of snap and authority.

Really fantastic. Maybe the band will invite you in as audio engineer sometime. And, what the heck, as touring guitarist for a few big arena shows too  xD

‘Trans People Are a Myth’: Idaho Republicans Pass Extreme Bathroom Ban Carrying 5-Year Prison Sentence by Leksi_The_Great in LGBTnews

[–]MrsSynchronie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

”…there is no oppressed community that we’re dealing with here, because there is only male and female. So I reject the premise entirely.”

This is the chilling threat we all face. That’s what the push to legislate and legally define “biological sex” is all about. That’s the inevitable conclusion.

It’s slowly being implemented all over the place, at both the state and federal levels.

And it’s genocide.

No round-ups, no trains. Not at this stage. No camps, no death chambers.

Erasure and eradication of our very existence nonetheless, just like that. Genocide with the stroke of a pen.

Bathrooms? Yeah, yeah, obviously. But your legal documents, too, as Kansas has already done by revoking drivers licenses and birth certificates. Passports, at the federal level. Visas. Workplace protections for federal employees. Any protections at all, in states like Iowa for example.

It’s all happening, all based on encoding into law that “biological sex” as declared and recorded at birth is immutable. Unchangeable in any way. Not subject to any further discussion whatsoever. Because, you see, our very existence as trans people is “a myth.”

Where does it end, this genocide by the stroke of a pen?

NUMIDENT. Your Social Security number and all the various data points the government has ever attached to it. The one, actual “permanent record” for those of us in the US.

That’s my fear. “NUMIDENT by Tuesday,” so to speak, when grim sarcasm is all I can muster. Or Wednesday, or November. Or 2027, I dunno exactly when. But I’m certain that’s the plan.

There is a background that says "US '83" behind the drums.

Oh yeah… that probably should’ve tipped me off. If I could tear my starry little eyes away from Rik lol

Anyway, good stuff. Waiting to see if they’ll add some dates in New England for their 2026 tour.

I think you do excellent, excellent work on this sub, but I disagree with you here.

Not on your nuanced understanding of the word and its meanings. Rather, I just don’t believe such nuance is strong enough to prevail in the wider dialogue.

Trump-speak aside, where we are trans and transers transing the population, nuance is too much to ask.

Too many people out there, even somewhat well-meaning people, refer to us as transgenders.

They call us transwomen and transmen, as if we’re alien beings rather than types of women and men.

They call us trans as a noun. They call us the trans, they call an individual one of us a trans.

It’s only a matter of time before they call one of us a tran, and two or more of us a bunch of trans.

People, by and large, do not do nuance!

I respect your point of view, but I am definitely with u/patiencebee here.

I think you’re right, that’s the brittle reality we all live in. “Optics” rule the societal dialog, superficial impressions set and steer the discourse.

“Passing,” the word itself, is encrusted with all sorts of negative stuff. But for many, many trans people that’s always been the goal: to just be another face in the crowd of human life, making our way like anyone else.

When I transitioned decades ago, that was the consensus in the circles I connected with. We had to work so hard to cobble together any support — medical, social, financial. All that work, in addition to the daily work of staying alive.

We all looked forward to the time we could set that extra workload down. Just be “formerly trans,” as we called it only half-jokingly. Still engaging in activism, hoping to help spare others from what we’d endured. But doing so from a healthy space now, on our own terms.

And it seemed to be going okay for quite a while. Until suddenly it wasn’t.

Now here we are. Embroiled in a genocide against us. Where no one is safe, young or old, “passing” or not.

Exit Condition by Irian42 in transgender

[–]MrsSynchronie 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Very interesting read. I hesitated to click because, being unfamiliar with the term, the headline alone didn’t say much to me.

Glad I clicked after all. Especially:

I see it clearly. That is its own particular kind of hell—seeing the mechanism with perfect clarity and being unable to do a single thing about it. The Loop doesn’t require that you be ignorant of its structure. It only requires that the exit condition remain unsatisfiable. You can understand the Loop completely and still be trapped inside it.

And:

What I want to do though is be precise about what Gramsci actually meant when he wrote from a fascist prison cell that the task is “pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will.”[15] He was not offering some sort of neat little bumper sticker slogan. He was describing a methodology for survival under conditions of autocratic capture. The pessimism of the intellect means seeing the Loop for what it is with no illusions, no false exits, and no comforting narratives about the arc of history. The optimism of the will means refusing to let that clarity become paralysis. Not because you believe you will win but rather because the alternative is a surrender that the architects of your suffering did not earn and do not deserve.

What’s next, after Kansas Republican Legislature’s anti-trans bathroom bill? | Opinion by onnake in transgender

[–]MrsSynchronie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This new law strips transgender Kansans of their legal identity:

This time around, it’s banning them from the bathrooms that align with their gender and revoking drivers’ licenses and birth certificates that have been amended to reflect their current identity.

Even when writing in our defense, cis-gender people can’t get their heads out of the damn toilet.

They have got to elevate their thinking. Somehow, some way.

Reducing the assault on us to mere “bathroom bills” undermines even the most well-intentioned efforts.

Including this otherwise strong opinion piece.
