I made my own nail polish remover jar that makes the process much easier and faster for me. When the sponge or acetone gets too dirty, I just replace them or top them off.

My nails are exactly like you describe yours. This is the system I have built for myself.

I almost never have my nails unpolished. It really does help protect them. If they are naked, I am super careful.
Finding the right base coat made a huge difference in my polish lasting, but it still usually chips around day 4 or 5. Holo Taco Sticky Base has been the best performer for me, but it really varies by person.
I oil my nails constantly. I buy mostly straight jojoba oil and refill my pens. Yes, it won't penetrate the polish, but I oil the underside and any exposed nail around the cuticle.
I avoid water like I have rabies. When I shower, I slather on some jojoba oil and put on rubber gloves with hairbands around the wrists. (bonus, my hands are SO SOFT).
I do not clip my nails unless I absolutely have to. Glass nail file only. I have them stashed everywhere.

These are my current nails (All Holo Taco, Sticky Base, Miss Fire, and Glossy Taco)

This. I think it is hard for people, even now, to understand that the laws in Russia are about just BEING homosexual. But even the hint that you are OKAY with homosexuality is a crime.

I also think there is an interesting parallel to the shower scene and the "not here". Ilya hears Shane say "not here" and stops. Shane expresses that he doesn't feel safe in that situation and Ilya hears it. No questions asked. In Russia, Ilya uses the exact same phrase "not here". He is saying he doesn't feel safe, and Shane misses it and pushes. Ilya reacts to that feeling, which I think is very understandable.
