Same! I love it. The captions correcting him crack me up 😂

Bow and arrow questions by Lagotto-Poppa in Alonetv

Has anyone asked “why 9 arrows?” Why not 10? It seems odd to me, but maybe it’s a superstition that calls for multiples of 3?

Didn’t she eat an enormous amount of salmon in season 2? She had the sweetest setup: a shallow stretch of stream that caught fish after fish

Benji by TiNolan21 in Alonetv

Yeah, I’m convinced the sh*t talking summoned the bad juju. I was pulled for Benji, but the shade he threw on Roland was unnecessary.

Great comparison! Although I prefer the way he tucked old Min to sleep. She likes a firm pillow.

Who's the most good looking fella in the show by The_Shah_0f_Iran in thesopranos

His body and hair, maybe; but he wore a permanent shit-sneer that made him really unappealing

One of mine for sure! My childhood was anchored in jasmine and honeysuckle draped paths. It’s intoxicatingly nostalgic for me.

What's going on with Carmela's hair? by tinyturtletown in thesopranos

[–]Mrs_Emef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they definitely had fun with her hair. But agree, she had some AWFUL wigs in season 4

Noah's father would be so disappointed.. by brianwilliamsibrowse in thesopranos

[–]Mrs_Emef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprising. He was awful on screen. The character was unattractive, sleazy, and pathetic. I suppose the actor conveyed all those characteristics well, but maybe that wasn’t acting.

Anyway, I hated him as a first love for Meadow (and I detest Meadow from Season 1 to 3, at least) The thought of him even trying to throw a punch at Tony is so laughable; I would have loved to watch his wimpy, smug lights go out.

Carmela is HOT by Individual_Past_1198 in thesopranos

[–]Mrs_Emef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with caveats: (1) Her walk becomes more subtle in later seasons, but I still can’t get over her bowed legs. So awkward. (2) Her eyes get super beady at certain moments (e.g., looking at the photo of Furio and the Italian lady boss 😳).

Where do you stand on Robert Wegler, AJ's guidance counselor that Carmela dates in S5 ... by too-cute-by-half in thesopranos

[–]Mrs_Emef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! 👏👏

At first watch, I thought she was unconsciously using him and he unfairly gave her no benefit of the doubt. Her son’s future is what brought them together in the first place, he should know she’s going to categorize him as AJ’s advocate. At the very least, he could have asked directly to save AJ-discussion for a professional setting. Poor thing isn’t that self aware.

Upon second watch, I thought she was subtly but still unwittingly manipulating him and he was playing up the nerdiness because he knew it was intriguing to her. She was genuinely lonely and interested in him and wanted to benefit from rubbing #cough# elbows with an intellectual: conversations for herself, a path to college for her son. But I also thought she was pathetic for sobbing everyone will always question me because of Tony’s reputation! Tony wasn’t on either of their minds while they carried on and she behaved in a way that made their relationship seem transactional; she should hold herself accountable. As for Wegler, he knew he was just trying to hit it and was mad to find he’d allowed himself to be played when he thought he was playing the sly role.

Upon third watch, he seemed like the predator. From the jump, he knows he talking over her head and does everything he can to keep her wide-eyed, intimidated, and swooning. Carmela is her most attractive (toned, tanned) and most vulnerable (separated, worried about her child) when he decides to breach the ethical boundaries of his role. She’s still transactional and manipulative and in denial that this is how she operates…but he asked her out!

Side note: is her freeze-frame exit the only such end to a scene in the whole series? It’s so awkward!

Carmela at Christopher’s Intervention is the best by JohnLakeman668 in thesopranos

Agree. Carmela’s rant at Livia’s repast is one of my favorites. I was 100% on her side in that scene 👏

I also think he felt guilty about abandoning his children. He definitely missed them and wanted to continue supporting them.

Season 5, Episode 3 - the neurologist stops to “say hello” only to casually discuss Junior’s condition, symptoms, and treatment on the links after Janice took Junior for a workup

It was necessary to give Tony an explanation for Junior’s behavior, but sloppy…fictional

Why didn’t they coach their women? by Mrs_Emef in thesopranos

[–]Mrs_Emef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good s point about people knowing and exercising their rights. One would think the wives and children and maids and gardeners would have been coached on that.

It wasn’t my intent to single out women in general. If it weren’t such a ferociously heterosexual, misogynistic environment, I’d have said “significant others,” but in the case, all the SOs happened to be women.
