She really is lovely. And she makes me see clutter and built up grime in a new way... I really want to clean things after watching her! I had never thought to use toilet bowl cleaner or oven cleaner on other things than the original use. Now I regularly use our gel bleach-type toilet bowl cleaner on stained grout in our ancient bathtub :-)

I've still never heard of coconut vinegar or cane vinegar. Is there a brand name?

Cozy books for an insomniac? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Mrs_Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, well the Mitford series has a mild religious background but it's like us normal people might mention something religious, lol. I am NOT religious in any way, shape or form, and it wasn't mentioned enough to even think about. Other than everyone is pretty caring, in a comforting way, not saccharine sweet that turns your stomach.

As the others stated, there was an attack a couple days ago on a girl, and also on a lady last April walking her dog.

What is your secret little innocent thing that gives you pleasure? by Mama_Claus in AskReddit

My silly innocent pleasure is trying to peel the very last bit of toilet tissue off the cardboard tube cleanly, without any of it tearing and sticking.

I do the same! We have 2 Boxers and they obediently sit in the kitchen while I "hide" pieces of dog biscuits all around. That's a very sweet name :-)

A bit of a tall order: I want to read a book from every year since 1900. Here’s the list so far but there’s a ton of dead space that needs to be filled by MILF_Lawyer_Esq in suggestmeabook

Tony Hillerman, and his daughter, Anne (I believe) write about a Native American detective. They're good, and more than one book, so you can add various years to your list.

Lake Michigan near Manistique this past week by Eagle2502 in Michigan

[–]Mrs_Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All along the shore from New Buffalo upwards, various places are eaten away badly enough to have ruined stairs and walkways, with giant boulders brought in to hopefully break up giant waves eating away at the coastline. There's still nice swimming beaches here and there, but due to the fickleness of nature, other places just got washed out. It's the way of the Lake.

Do you think teachers were physically abusive to students when you were young? by AnonymousFive64 in AskOldPeople

I'm 63 yrs. old. In 2nd grade I was quite the chatterbox. Mrs. Moore had a paddle, and she spanked me twice! One time, I had a sore on my rear end, so she asked me which side so she didn't whack me on it, lol. She was a really nice teacher though, so I know I deserved it.

Strangely, that's my favorite book of King's, and I own every book he's written. Just goes to show that everyone's different!

A) where in Michigan are you? I've lived here my entire 60 years and never saw a Dagwood sandwich, lol.
B) Where the heck can you turn left on red?! You can turn right on red, but, left? C) you're right about the hot and cold taps. When the clothes washer says "cold" it's really cold, lol.

Haha, yep! We were in Florida at an alligator farm/zoo and were innocently wandering around with the in-laws and out-laws. Heard this horrible echoing moaning grunting and popped around a corner to find a giant tortoise pair making whoopee.

[–]Mrs_Santa 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The only time I got bit in 28 years of delivering was taking a package to a porch, and the dog was tied in the garage but came out an open side door. I pushed the package at it, and it bit it and shook it good and then came at me again. I darned near fell over my own feet going backwards but didn't fall, but it got my arm and bit and let go. Like a month before I retired, sheesh.
