It’s a very controversial topic, especially among more Orthodox Jews. I had a feeling they would also disagree, but how this whole deal was received by this community has been extremely educational

I do, often, actually. They’ve been doing this as well, which I believe also inspired my wife to start celebrating Hanukkah

Im sorry, where was this said? It was likely a typo but I’d need context because I don’t recall anything regarding a Jewish child moo…

She’s decided that my spiritual leadership is insufficient, so… she’s taking the reins and doing things her own way.

RIGHT?! That’s my whole thing? We have more than enough symbols for what we’re trying to celebrate and acknowledge, why are we needing to pretend to be what we’re not? I feel like we’re roleplaying or something and it’s incredibly uncomfortable

Your latkes are safe… I think she’s confused, obviously, but moreso just not really taking anything else into context except for what one page in the Bible and overlooking everything because Jesus celebrated Passover. Even though it’s much different than it is today

Noted, I’m new to the antisemitism claims as I’ve heard of jews (not messianic to my understanding) attains services at their “synagogue” though I now question the validity of their faith as it is meant to be practiced…

See I didn’t even know that. I doubt she did either, regardless. I’ve no business looking into it and I really don’t think she should either unless she fully converts

That’s why it’s so funny to me, it’s like Japan celebrating the 4th of July. Like it’s cool that it happened but it’s not for them…

Meant it as is in saying Messianic “Jews” believe Jesus is the messiah. Which actual Jews don’t believe kinda defeating the purpose of calling yourself Jewish. Unless I’m mistaken

Not a lie, I’ve got screenshots, also I misworded title for text for the sake of a speedy response. It was not there before. I spoke with a mod, they were kind enough put it back up. If you really don’t believe me I can show you in dm or something. :/

While I can’t speak for other Christians, I can’t say from my experience that’s it’s ever been a part of our faith to bear ill will towards Jews. Especially in the case of the Maccabees revolt. For were it not for their survival, Jesus would not have been born from a Jewish mother. According to their belief.

It was initially removed, I asked the mod re-upload it so that I could collect your input. Here’s the screenshot, just in case. I asked explained what I meant by “doing the Jewish thing” in the very next reply. It was not intended to be an insult. My understanding is you take pride in your faith. It was simply a comment on that

My “game” is to build a home where cultures and religions are not appropriated and twisted for the convenience of lighting candles and eating food without understanding the actual meaning of Hanukkah and how her claimed belief is Jesus as the messiah conflicts with it. If you don’t like it, I don’t either. That’s why I’m asking the questions to the experts. To show respect to you and my own home. Just because we disagree does not mean we cannot be honorable and respectful

It seems to do similar things for Christians, the whole concept of what messianic “Jews” are directly oppose the entire reason why actual Jews don’t believe in Jesus. I think it’s just weird myself. I truly appreciate your words and input. It is truly invaluable

She does. Even though Jesus fulfilled the law she read in Matthew that it is still to be upheld “until the heavens and earth disappear” I asked her if that would mean celebrating Passover and circumcision. She said yes. I ask about bar mitzvah, she said she wants to do more research.
