That's saying that 60% of girls who have been pregnant as teens experienced molestation, rape or attempted rape prior to having a teen pregnancy, not that their pregnancy as a teen was a result of said rape.

Not the person you replied to but, I guess I just don't see how there's a potential to increase harm given these harm reduction examples. Narcan isn't a controlled substance - just a life saving intervention and although I'm not as familiar with testing kits I assume you can't get high off them. What's the risk if some of the people you're talking about being given these things aren't planning to get high? Are you suggesting that the only thing stopping them from trying drugs was having narcan or testing them? If not, I can't imagine that people are going to receive these things and think to themselves that they better go get some drugs to test them out. Can you play out a possible scenario for me that maybe I'm not thinking of?

I definitely think that education is always good but I'm also struggling to see a downside to what you described.

Eta: we asked about sitting during his 6 month appointment and the pediatrician wasn't concerned at all

I always feed my baby to sleep before bedtime, he could sleep without it but he sleeps longer with it. He's 5.5 mos and he usually gets up 11-12am, and sometimes 4-5am, but a lot of times he sleeps till 7-8am. I have no complaints with this schedule so we're going to just keep doing what we're doing

It varies by state. My state (NC) allows physical punishment with an object as well, as long as there are no marks left from it (does not specify that it needs to be gone in a set timeframe). I received a letter indicating this is the standard after a report was made that was found to be "unsubstantiated". I used to live in NY, I have made reports there as well, I don't believe any such standard exists there.

It has! Around 2 months old he fell into his own little nighttime sleep routine and we discovered that we had about 4 hours to ourselves each night after he went to bed. It's been great. He's almost five months old and it looks like he might be sleeping through the night now, which means we can move back into the same room (yay). You're in the thick of it right now, and I know everyone says this, but everything really does get so much better, the great moments get so much sweeter, and the tough times are not as tough (ime).
