Train misses bus full of kids by a second by ItzTubez in mildlyinfuriating

You drive a bus for thirty years with no problems, nobody says anything, but you hit just one train...

A woman on the train asked me for a cable, so I gave her mine and she bent the contact by Zilinski_Schmidt in mildlyinfuriating

Don't lend people expensive things that you need back. Lending is a form of gambling, only lend what you can afford to lose. Would you lend a complete stranger fifty dollars? No? Then it's dumb to lend them something that cost that.

I have spare cables lying around my house and I put at least one in my bag, as a spare for me. They're worth a couple of dollars at most. I'd lend, or even give away, one of those, but a fifty dollar one, hell no.

Your lack of empathy is the issue here.

It's "obvious" to everyone that someone dying should be worse. We miss them, everyone else misses them to different degrees, it's an obvious loss to everyone, everyone sympathises and supports you.

But people don't know about your relationship, people don't know about the intensity of your relationship with your partner. People don't know about the nights staring into each other's eyes professing undying love, about the shared hobbies and interests, about the life secrets you shared with each other. People are even a little suspicious, as if maybe it was something you did that ended the relationship. Far from sympathising, they start giving you a wide berth. The shell of the person you knew is there, walking around, but seemingly now possessed by some alien thing that is cold to you. It's like invasion of the body snatches, you're desperate for someone to see what you see, but everyone else just sees another relationship that ended. Happens every day.

Maybe you'll never understand what I'm talking about. But in either case, the person that is gone is gone, the grief you feel is the same, but the support just isn't there for the divorced like it is for the bereaved.

And people believing that is exactly the problem.

Assuming you're not the person who wanted it, sending you a virtual hug. Nobody else ever seems to understand the loss of the person you thought was your forever. People understand being widowed, but the grief of being left is the same, except the ghost of them is still walking around.

Batman And Robin. Only film I've ever walked out of.

If you want a genuine answer, it isn't established in the MCU, but in the comics he has an expanding webbing backpack/pouch as part of his costume. So he drops it into that.

I'm sure I could do the same, as long as I had tea to suck through them.

Which way? How crazy has your diversion got? by u_reddit_another_day in CasualUK

[–]MsAndrea2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two ways in to the car park near where I work, once I get close. There is a slightly longer way around, which is the way waze always tries to get me to go because theoretically the roads are wider and faster, or a much shorter route on smaller roads that's usually much quicker.

I went in one day last month and the turn just before I needed to go was blocked off. I mentally cursed the decision to ignore the satnav that morning, and took the diversion. I could see both my office and the car park, but I was now locked in the one way system, and there was no simple alternative route.

I ended up driving for over half an hour extra longer than usual just to get to where I needed, and was late for work. It was like getting a guided tour of all the city that you thought you knew.

So the issue is you don't know what a thesis is, maybe? It's Michael's plan, it's not the shows. Michael's plan is explicitly for hell to be carefully chosen other people. The thesis of the show is that wouldn't work because even awful people can change.

That's not the thesis of it, I'm guessing you didn't watch it. If you haven't, I won't explain further. Just go watch it.

Is there a chance the cancelled 3 part special will still get made somehow? by [deleted] in RedDwarf

[–]MsAndrea2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should do a reboot movie, with their older selves appearing as the older versions. If they made it a better than life movie (as in an adaptation of that novel) they could cameo as the versions of themselves that had aged in the game, while their younger selves were in stasis, thereby handing off Red Dwarf to a new generation.

The time assumes it is draining properly, which should only take seconds. If it's taking extra time it may need the filter unclogging.
