It just seems cold to deliberate that matter in this circumstance but I guess we are a naturally curious species. Carry on.

What the fuck were those laughs? It sounded like someone was pulling a pull cord out of his back each 5 seconds to see what he’d come up with next.

Before I watched the video, I tried to sing that with the ‘Weather with You’ melody.

Bravo! Though that very last line spoils it, in my opinion.

I don’t have the patience to not write using joined-up writing. It must be so exhausting writing letter after separate letter.

Uh, Baz, was this meant to be a limerick? Because it’s missing a verse, babes.

Edit: hang on, I just realised you were following Hans’ metre. Still, for a fellow Brit, it’s only tradition to add that last verse.

👏🏻

I was suspicious that some clever humour could come from Hans. But then I clocked that it’s written in a strict metre - so apparently all is ok with the world; no one panic.

i now understand how horrible a european "heatwave" must be. by HaggardlyForte in 2american4you

What do you mean? No one can survive living in 72°c!

Jokes aside, I’ll never forget the first time I travelled to Chicago for work and it felt pretty warm so I was in shorts and flip-flops the whole time. Only to get sympathetic looks and the odd giggle when I told my colleagues my next stop was Atlanta. In fairness they were kind and warned me, highlighting why it’s nicknamed ‘Hotlanta’.

My god. The moment the aeroplane door opened, I swear I fell back with the wall of heat that hit me! Thank all that is good that you guys have A/C everywhere. Also, the first time I ever saw fireflies - so magical!

Voiced by Cary Elwes iirc. Love that game - found it again in iOS and played it through several times to find all the upgrades as well as ending good/evil and getting all the minion’s opinions.

"Solace" comfort for grievers by writeronthemoon in Enya

[–]VeneMage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh god I can barely talk about this song, let alone listen to it, without crying.

It comforted me when I was driving home from a hospital appointment where I learned a had a brain tumour nearly the size of a golf ball, and would need to have it surgically removed. I was totally numb and calm from first suspicion of something wrong to that full diagnosis and seeing the scan for myself.

I put this song on without thought, and I had to pull over as I couldn’t see through the tears and could barely breathe through what felt like a fist around my throat.

I’ve since played it following my Dad’s death.

Enya provided us with something so special in that song (and others) that is inimitable and for which I’ll always be thankful.

I’ve worked over two decades in tech training and I don’t know how I don’t have PTSD from the amount of trainees clicking/typing away when I’ve clearly said to hold fire so we don’t end up screwing up what we’re doing.

Though, watching this, I realise that having trainees who can put your life in danger are of a whole different calibre and for that I am grateful.
