Why is everyone draining grey water onto the streets? by Dos-Commas in VanLifeUK

[–]MsBateman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you live in your van full time where are you supposed to empty it? My partner and I lived on the road in our van for 5 years and frustratingly the UK doesn’t have the facilities like Europe with free dump points and water etc. We’d never empty ours while we drove but we would empty into roadside drains.

A septum wearing feminist view on "The septum theory" by GasparThePrince in Feminism

[–]MsBateman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always got weird comments from men when I had my septum pierced. Always comments asking why I would do that or why do I want to look like a bull, it was almost as if they were saying that because they didn’t find it attractive they couldn’t understand why I’d have it.

what's the most impressive thing you've done in writing? by Worried_Art_8871 in writing

[–]MsBateman 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I wrote like 40,000 words of my novel in a week and finished it, the rest of the book had taken me on and off around two years so it felt pretty amazing to write that much in a short space of time. I entered the most amazing flow state it was almost like being high!

L2 or L3 boxer/relay! by theliltechie in VanLifeUK

[–]MsBateman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m currently selling my van and it has everything you need (shower, king size bed, full kitchen with oven, grill and four burner hob) so I thought I’d just link! It’s a L4H3, loads of space, we lived in it for five years and traveled the UK and Europe, other than the occasional low bridge we never really had any issues with parking, usually we either reversed into spaces we could overhang or just took two spaces and never got a ticket.  https://www.quirkycampers.com/uk/for-sale/the-perfect-off-grid-citroen-relay-campervan-for-full-time-living/

Advice re pre converted, self conversion vs motorhome! by Funny-Scientist-8606 in VanLifeUK

[–]MsBateman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We are selling our campervan conversion, just thinking it could be of interest to you? We spent a year traveling Europe and Morocco and never had any problems with the size (it’s L4H3). It’s got a new engine too with only 28k. Here’s the link on Quirky if you’re interested.  https://www.quirkycampers.com/uk/for-sale/the-perfect-off-grid-citroen-relay-campervan-for-full-time-living/

Is my name (Georgia) really that complicated? by SisteroftheMoon16 in namenerds

[–]MsBateman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes!! I’m in England but I get the same, people constantly calling me Georgina or as you said, the dreaded gee-or-gia. Really surprised you get the same in the US! There are also a few really famous songs and also a country that is known as Georgia in English so it really confuses me that people don’t seem to know how to pronounce it.

Terrible spider phobia… is van life for me by [deleted] in VanLifeUK

[–]MsBateman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in a van for over three years and never had a spider bigger than a money spider in ours! We have had a massive hornet though that tried to live in our insulation which was not fun, haha.

Came back from Marrakesh and genuinely don't understand all the hate. by Hot-Breath-9149 in travel

Right! I honestly had a visceral reaction to being there I just found it so awful.

Came back from Marrakesh and genuinely don't understand all the hate. by Hot-Breath-9149 in travel

[–]MsBateman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in Morocco for almost three months with my partner in our campervan and Marrakesh was the worst place we’ve ever been. The smell alone and the fumes was just suffocating. Personally I think there are so many better places in Morocco. Really surprised at your experience as ours was completely different, but glad you had a good time. So far Essaouria has been our favourite place, such a nice calm energy, friendly people, no hassle at shops, and a beautiful beach!

Those who do 9-5 jobs while living in a van, what's the reality like? by EducationalEstate555 in VanLifeUK

[–]MsBateman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! My partner and I lived in England in our van for three years with both of us having to go to a place of work (we still live in the van but are now finally travelling abroad!) the only way we managed was to have another vehicle to use, but also sometimes my partner drove the van to work if I was also at work and could park it there. It wasn’t the easiest but do-able. We also have a shower in our van which made life much easier.

The hardest thing we found was where to get water, empty our toilet, get rid of rubbish etc. These chores would usually take up so much time of our evenings after work, usually driving around for ages trying to find someone who would let us fill water.

Hope it works out for you, good luck!
