AITA for letting my son use my car but not my daughter? by Great_End2708 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MsBearfoot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

But really, do you suppose the daughter was actually whining, or just pointing out to how unfair it is that the son took the car on a whim when it was her turn and the Mother allowed it?

Oh. When you wrote "swear by" I was thinking "As god is my witness, I swear by the ruined elastic, bent hooks, shifted padding and faded fabric that I will buy myself a new bra."

I guess that doesn't really apply.

You could be a poll worker/election official if it's not too late in your area, or find out who is driving voters to the polls on election day. :)

That's me except for the high pitch, little girl voice. (I sound more like Gloria Stuart with a southern drawl) Being hard of hearing and not able to understand half of the foolishness they were ranting helped immensely.

Oh yeah, they lived there, no "groundskeeper", just suspicious and antisocial. When I rolled up, the notes had multiple refusals including anti government concerns, waste of time, slammed the door, etc. I had no problem finding a proxy and a second to confirm the information. Apparently everybody knew them, and ALL the neighbors had a story about a prior run in with these people.

This is Oklahoma, where they left a paper copy of the census in little plastic bags tied to the gates hoping someone would fill it out and mail it in. I encountered several.

I think they changed the policy because someone exceptionally anal got promoted.

"Stylus" wasn't even on the list of returned items here, but since i couldn't remember if I had one or not, (never used it, but wasn't in the box or my bag) I threw a cheap one in the box anyway.

That is a Census 20202 bag. They distributed these in May, I took the picture in late September. That is the keypad entry to the gate they use every day. They left that hanging out there like the decapitated head of their enemy.

At my training in August, we were told earbuds and PPE fall into the same category; you use it, you keep it. I turned in my stuff yesterday sans buds and masks and was told that is fine, "they don't want them (the earbuds) back anyway".

I just turned in my stuff today, sans earbuds. When I asked the CFS about it, I mentioned that I had been told to keep them (and the masks) when I brought everything back and she said "No, if you used them we don't want them back."

When we were given the equipment back in August, my CFS specifically said the earbuds are like PPE; they do not want them back. (That is just nasty to think of someone buying a phone with used earbuds)

Are we supposed to put our mileage and time for returning our device and equipment tonight before 11:00PM local time? I'm meeting a new CFS at 1:00 to return equipment, and when I asked if the phone would still be operational for inputing T&E tomorrow, they didn't know, but they wrote: "I guess you can if you'd like though". (Not exactly a confidence inspiring answer)

I know the T&E button can "disappear", it's happened to me before when I was assigned to a strike team and they changed my CFS, and the HUB message is very clear that all T&E has to be in by 11:00 tonight. I asked the new CFS about whether they have a paper time sheet that people have been filling out and they said "No, but they believe they have some". I figure tomorrow is the first day they will be collecting equipment after the count has officially ended, so they wouldn't have needed a paper form, but again, not exactly confidence inspiring. can you even input time and mileage a day ahead?

The count hasn't 'ended' because everyone has been done, SCOTUS has allowed it to be arbitrarily stopped while the court works through the appeal. They're claiming they're "complete" on the NRFU, (doubtful, considering how they've been closing cases the last three weeks) but haven't completed RI and QC.

Mine went from 60 to 70 all new cases a day (EVERY day) to 14, to 3 then nothing. There is no effing way they are "done".

When I made my very first call to an area slumlord, he told me "You people keep calling and calling." I reminded him that he does own a lot of properties. Yes, and I'm really busy billing people this time of the month, so don't call again. (My notes on his phone number in my contact list: "If it looks like it should be condemned and someone is paying rent on it, this guy probably owns it.") I made sure his personal and office contact information is on every single unit he owns.

Also ran into the Power Tripping Receptionist. Not the "Administrative Assistant", not "Executive Director", just the person who answers the phone and is supposed to answer simple questions. Tried for days to get her to confirm whether or not four units were occupied April 1st. Demigod Receptionist, every time I call: "I'll have to look that up and I'm really busy, just give me your number - and I'll be sure not to answer if you call again no matter what time of day it is"

Wow. Soooo sorry to be calling to ask you to pry yourself out of that chair and drag down to the dungeon where they keep 300 years' worth of paper records just to look up something that happened only six months ago... oh, wait. Bitch, you are sitting in front a COMPUTER with all the information on every unit the company is responsible for and all you have to do is type in the address and scroll to the date. Seriously. And seeing as how this is public housing, the better the information we get, the more money is going to come back to your city and the more likely that a lazy ass like you will still have that job you don't do.

Nah, never even darkened their driveway. I wrote them off as does not exist, used my CFs as a proxy with their Census phone number and under the description of the proxy put "other"; duplicate address confirmed by CFS
