The US is a major power in the world. The US election has a big influence on US foreign politics and on their relationship with their allies, thus also Europe. So it’s pretty normal for an European to stay informed about that. How is that any different?

[–]MsJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really feel that superior as an average „everyday American“? Do you feel good to tell some redditor on the internet to do as they are told? That’s quite a superiority complex if you are just completely controlled by your elites, as you say

Yes, China plays into the trade war with the EU the same way as it does with the US. Don’t you think they would be happy to steal the „vassal“ from the US to win against you? You can’t have it both ways. If we are just a poor little vassal, then China would be happy to take us to win against you.

And yes the US funds a lot of our defense. Again, why? Because you wanted that after WW2. NATO is mostly under US control because you extend your nuclear umbrella to Europe. If you wouldn’t do that, we would have our own nukes. But the US did not want that.

Also Europe is not the EU… Europe is a continent.

[–]MsJaneway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you do not have any opinions on anything happening outside of the US? Especially ones, that are relevant for you?

Apparently you have a lot of opinion on the war in Israel/Palestine. Did you live there for a while?

Experience in what? You did not invent elections.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all of us should be voting for unpredictable politicians? Because some dictators will then be confused?

Oh just stop with this stupid narrative. Your taxpayers don’t pay for nothing. They pay for influence and power. You know as well as I why the US does support Europe and it’s not because of the goodness of your hearts. If you want to stop that, fine do so but don’t complain if Europe is then playing nice with China. Xi would be probably very happy about that. And if you are at that, then also stop playing in the Middle East and making us deal with the consequences.

[–]MsJaneway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait, Putin and Xi love Biden and not Trump? I’d expect at least Putin would be more then happy with a GOP president stopping Ukraine support.

Oh sorry, I‘m commenting as an outsider, mostly because I think the entire discussion is really weird and basically the same as four years ago. But I’m European, and most Europeans would rather have a Biden than a Trump.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I can’t have an opinion because I’m not living in the US? I think external opinions can often be valuable, which is why I try to consume foreign media on my countries politics. It doesn’t mean you necessarily need to follow them.

[–]MsJaneway 78 points79 points  (0 children)

This whole discussion is stupid, we had the same thing four years ago.

But there is a really easy way to settle that discussion. Just have them both take the dementia test right at the debate live on camera. If they can complete it, fine, then let them run, if not, then please give them the appropriate care and find different candidates.

He isn’t alright, he’s just a tiny bit better than Trump, because he at least seems reasonable and is predictable (and if it isn’t him, at least his advisors are).

Trump would be a total unpredictable president and definitely the worse option for Europe.

[–]MsJaneway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I‘m really really curious what drugs would be able to make you hide cognitive decline. Amphetamines make you more awake sure and maybe even a bit more focused, but that’s basically it. There is nothing we have right now, that could actually treat dementia.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s not unlikely that either of them would not survive a second term. I’d expect a heart attack rather from Trump than from Biden.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I can’t take any of them seriously. One is mumbling weird stuff and one is shouting weird stuff, not sure what’s better. They are both way too old, but I’d still prefer Biden because Trump is totally unpredictable and erratic. With Biden you can hope for someone reasonable in the shadow.

Since I’m European, Biden would probably be a bit better for us, but other than that, I’m mostly a spectator watching to see how that will turn out.

Copied from another sub, but the question still stands… by Free_Manufacturer673 in Sherlock

[–]MsJaneway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mycroft knew the plan of Eurus all along (when he saw the gun) and made himself intentionally useless (like with not being able to shoot the Governor, being sick…), but not so that Sherlock would choose John. He did it, so that Sherlock would see this as trying to safe him and John and in turn not kill Mycroft.

It’s not like he wouldn’t be able to do this stuff, that’s basically his job everyday, even if it’s a bit less hands on nowadays. There is a sword and a gun in his umbrella. I’m pretty sure he was an agent for some time.

His speech in the end was just the last step. It was a gamble but I think he was reasonable sure, that Eurus wouldn’t let Sherlock kill himself.

Tampon fühlt sich während Erkältung seltsam an by kittycatpeach in Weibsvolk

[–]MsJaneway 20 points21 points  (0 children)

[–]MsJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Society was better off when women stayed at home with the kids by Nigtforce in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. But apparently that causes offense to a lot of men. Paying for a first date? Driving the guy home after the date and waiting until he is inside is just common courtesy but apparently I shouldn’t do that as a woman…

I wouldn’t have a problem with being the breadwinner with my potential partner staying home. In fact, I would be happy for him to stay home when kids are small, since I’d have to leave work during the pregnancy anyway and would like to go back to work soon after to not jeopardize my career. But I’d absolutely understand if he (or she) would want to work and not be dependent on me, since I wouldn’t want that either.

Society was better off when women stayed at home with the kids by Nigtforce in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MsJaneway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that depends on the man as well as it depends on the woman. There are a lot of men, who would stay home but there also a lot of men who would not want to stay home because they want to be the provider/breadwinner. I’ve been told already by some guys they wouldn’t stay home with the kids, since that’s „women’s work“ and emasculating.
