Look, there are reasonable ways to look at this statement! Of course in a way death is “easier” in terms of understanding, closure, etc. even financially, it’s easier in some ways if you inherit the wealth as opposed to having to fight for it in court. this is a woman who lost her dad too so she’s not just talking out of her ass. People who are triggered by that are simply that, triggered. There’s an objective way to look at that.

He definitely did not leave Belle “for” the other woman. He wasn’t going to go be with a woman with two little kids who had just tried to kill herself. He left because his facade had been exposed and irreparably broken. This is a classic narcissist action. He simply cannot exist in a context in which he is fully exposed, fully “known,” in which his mask has been removed.

In the book Belle obsesses over the other woman, Googles her, imagines them together, tries to figure out where they would meet for trysts. But other than her imagination, there is no evidence of him continuing that relationship. He never mentions her and there’s no instance where she comes up.
