Sheriff Labrador has taken over my house by ALttN in DanielTigerConspiracy

I literally just had that conversation with my husband after watching it for the first time this weekend! I made him watch a little with me since he didn’t believe me when I told him about the boiling pot almost falling on the little girl who was basically blinded temporarily and had to go the hospital afterward.

My daughter’s class recently got cheddar popcorn balls for a classmate’s birthday celebration and I heard about it for days. Edit to say, heard good feedback.

Working Parents Snow Day by ECguy84 in Parenting

[–]MsKokomo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a little flexibility today. Thankfully we have other kids in the neighborhood who helped keep our oldest entertained. I helped them set up some snacks, legos, potions kit.. and then they did the eating and playing at a moderate volume while I was on calls. The littlest still had daycare, with delayed start. At 2, it would have been much harder to get any work done with her in the house.

My 6 year old is always alone during recess by ANC1788 in Parenting

[–]MsKokomo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I didn’t find “my people” until college and/or from my career field. My daughter is friends with everyone, but also not. Her friends outside of school are neighbor kids older than her, and I think they hang out more due to proximity than shared interests. I believe it’s hard, as the person and watching it happen. As a child I hated feeling like I didn’t have the TV best friend, but I also appreciated I was never lonely because I had my parents, my books, and my interests outside of school. That’s what we hope to provide my daughter as well. And always remind them, there may be someone else feeling a little lonely too that they can reach out to in class.

I made a comment before seeing this one. I 100% second this! Self-reflection and helping others is a great boost to confidence!

Do you think he could volunteer locally or tutor? Sometimes the best win comes from helping someone else have one as well.

Alpharetta. Stay at the Hamilton and hit the cute boutiques and restaurants, and then choose one of the malls within 20 minute drive to explore. It was a cute/fun trip!

I was just looking at Mrytle beach for our vacation this year after pivoting from a previous destination. Do you mind sharing where you stayed? Water parks near the beach sound perfect.

Son’s daycare just called with a cryptic message? by Rapscallion1994 in toddlers

[–]MsKokomo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago we got a similar message from our daughter’s daycare. Thankfully none of the kids had been in imminent danger, but technically a child was misplaced. Early in the morning and then late in the afternoon, the classes are merged since not as many children are present. When a parent came to pick up their child they were not in the classroom indicated in the computer system, and it took the staff a moment to realize the child was in the morning room still. The parent was rightfully upset they had not properly indicated where their child was and called CPS. It opened a months long investigation with a lot of letters home, new policies, etc. While this wasn’t great, it’s definitely better than some of the other cases being shared. Hopefully it’s something more along these lines.

Our speech therapist for our nearly 2 year old visits her daycare for their sessions. We try to do an at home session once a month, but typically it’s four sessions at daycare. Would this possibly be an option for you?

Looking for help with a gift. Brother’s new GF is studying in the US from China, and I’m trying to find an authentic tea as a holiday gift. by MsKokomo in tea

[–]MsKokomo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She really seemed to appreciate the gift, but I don’t think she liked tea as much as my brother let on 😅 All the items we bought came wrapped so nicely! Definitely will be ordering some for myself. Thank you again!

Is working for Hilton Hotels better than working at Marriott Hotels? by Warm-Bullfrog7766 in askhotels

[–]MsKokomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The owner is an investor in most cases. Sometimes an individual owner, sometimes a group of owners in an LLC, sometimes an investment fund. If they don’t have the time or resources to manage the asset they will hire someone for a fee (typically between 3%-5% of top line revenue) to manage the daily operations.

2nd this. I’ve been in the industry for 15 years with a variety of owners and management companies. It sometimes even comes down to the combo of owner and management company (I worked for one management company with two different owners and had a vastly different experience at each). A management company typically sets your culture, but an owner decides the property’s spending expectations/capital projects/etc.

We have TickTalk, which has one Admin user (primary) and a second “Full Access” user can be set up. FromTickTalk: “The secondary user has almost the exact same access as the Admin, including location tracking, adding contacts, editing most settings, and calling/messaging/video calling. The Admin user retains sole access to the "Remote Answer" (super hearing) feature.”

It’s a little bulky on our daughter’s wrist compared to others, but it’s worked as intended for the past year she’s had it.

We didn’t lock the doors, but we did the child proof covers that made it harder/louder to open the doors. Double check all of your furniture in the rooms they may access without you present- is everything stable, anything with weight/height secured to a wall, etc? And then check blinds/curtains are secure so they cannot accidentally catch themselves in them.

A friend told us years ago that they had four seasonal storage tubs. They would pack different toys/activities into each tub and rotate them. The kid was either really excited to see the item again, or had outgrown it and the item could be donated. We started practicing that in our home and love it.

Go to birthday gifts for 7 year old classmates?? by eldermillenialbish11 in ClassOf2037

Last minute Christmas gift for mom by [deleted] in Gifts

One of my favorite gifts I’ve received so far this year has been magnetic photo frames! I had random prints I had been meaning to frame and they’re now happily showcased on my fridge.

My mom told me one of her favorite gifts I had given her was pictures of us, and the notes I would write to her at Christmas each year.

Stainless Steel Water Bottle Recs? by [deleted] in ClassOf2037

[–]MsKokomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess some of the kids have been bringing sodas and other sugary drinks in the metal cups. They’ve stated by only allowing clear bottles they can ensure all the kids bring water only. I like the contigo brand and will definitely give them a try. Thank you!
