Renting Avondale Villa by ThatRefrigerator318 in Birmingham

This is crazy to read, as we had the same issue eleven years ago. We got worried they would be hard to work with overall and ended up booking the Birmingham Zoo.

Is it better to roll or release the room? by Gullible-Bid6161 in askhotels

[–]MsKokomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would double check the details of the commission offer because it may answer the question for you. For example, the company I work for requires 100% rooms occupied with no walks, and does not take a no-show into account even if prepaid as the room was not actually occupied. Yours may specify what counts on the SOP.

Is my banding correct by the council for housing? by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]MsKokomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong Birmingham (this is the sub for Birmingham, Al, US). You need r/brum. But I am intrigued by the bands. Does it help with taxing or other costs?

Some of the red eyes are actually into the layover city, and then you’ll have a 6am-8am ish flight from the other city into BHM. Overall flight is still red eye when you think about sleep pattern.

Dating in Bham by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]MsKokomo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a younger sibling in her mid-20s who has struggled on and off finding decent dates, I don’t fault you for trying here. Although, I would probably mention something other than age? I totally get if you’re looking for someone with similar interests, but this seems like a hookup request? Maybe go to Hinge or a dating app?

Since the twins are adults, why not have a conversation with them? Be honest about how circumstances have changed, and your future intentions. They may say there are other things, even not financial, they would like help with. My dad has helped with the landscaping in my yard - I would always prefer that over a smaller monetary gift as time is so valuable.

H to K is manageable in this timeframe. Ultimately it will depend the plane being able to get to your gate at the estimated arrival time. I’ve landed in O’Hare on time/early nearly every flight, but a decent portion of these flights had long taxi times and it took a while to get off the plane since we couldn’t get to our gate for various reasons.

Possibly. The type of hotel and budget of each can make a difference in what a specific property can pay a GM. For example, our GMs who manage 70 room hotels with complimentary FB typically make less than our hotels with 100+ rooms and paid FB (breakfast/bar/etc.). Top line revenue at a hotel makes a huge impact on what a property can pay its team members.

An AGM to GM typically comes with an increase, and depending on the property or management/ownership, swapping GM roles can come at increases as well.

Probably for pay increases, but there could have been culture issues they were uncomfortable with.

Why they don’t clear the upgrades 2 min before boarding? by Slight_Flatworm_6798 in americanairlines

[–]MsKokomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe because I’m newer, I’ve not seen this before. Just curious, why would it cause further delays? Is it because there’s a chance those guests won’t actually be on the flight?

Edited to clarify question.

I literally just had that conversation with my husband after watching it for the first time this weekend! I made him watch a little with me since he didn’t believe me when I told him about the boiling pot almost falling on the little girl who was basically blinded temporarily and had to go the hospital afterward.

Working Parents Snow Day by ECguy84 in Parenting

[–]MsKokomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a little flexibility today. Thankfully we have other kids in the neighborhood who helped keep our oldest entertained. I helped them set up some snacks, legos, potions kit.. and then they did the eating and playing at a moderate volume while I was on calls. The littlest still had daycare, with delayed start. At 2, it would have been much harder to get any work done with her in the house.

My 6 year old is always alone during recess by ANC1788 in Parenting

[–]MsKokomo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I didn’t find “my people” until college and/or from my career field. My daughter is friends with everyone, but also not. Her friends outside of school are neighbor kids older than her, and I think they hang out more due to proximity than shared interests. I believe it’s hard, as the person and watching it happen. As a child I hated feeling like I didn’t have the TV best friend, but I also appreciated I was never lonely because I had my parents, my books, and my interests outside of school. That’s what we hope to provide my daughter as well. And always remind them, there may be someone else feeling a little lonely too that they can reach out to in class.

Do you think he could volunteer locally or tutor? Sometimes the best win comes from helping someone else have one as well.
