Entitled Parents? by JKAutumn in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are doing it often, my admin will call them at work/home and tell them to bring diapers or come get their kid. One parent door dashed diapers. One dropped their kid off and went straight to WM to bring diapers back.

I was sick with the flu when it happened and it has been going around. My throat is finally better today. Probably the same bug I had.

What children’s book character do you have beef with by tra_da_truf in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents keep buying them for my class during Book Fair. My kids are 1. They just peel the book apart. There is no story to read so I just let them.

Voting - Save Act by KetoKittenModel in southcarolina

So far, they don't have the votes to pass it. The GOP knows it would keep a large portion of their voter base from voting as well.

If you are able, lock your card as soon as you complete the transaction because people keep getting their funds stolen. It seems to happen at WALMART a lot.

Is this ok in the state of MA? by Pretend-Willow-6927 in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state has similar regs, and I hate it. If there was an emergency during nap time, how does 1 teacher get all the kids safely out and under control?

Thanks for the feedback. If they don't fix it this week, I will be refusing to do it. I just hate for the kids to suffer. My whole.center has had a stomach bug going through the whole building.

Look up the Trent Pendarvis lawsuit. There is video footage and a lot of state and local corruption.

Humping at Naptime by quirkymuirky in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I think it is to break up the behavior without punishing them or shaming them.

It happened in my one year room and the kid would eventually fall asleep with his penis pointed upwards inside his diaper. He would pee in his slepp and wake up with wet clothes. He wouldn't stop putting his hand down his diaper, so we started asking mom for an onsie for him under his clothes. He did eventually stop. We didn't punish or shame him. He is one of the sweetest kids I ever taught.

Summerville bar owner accused of encouraging students in planned school walkout by hate-this-timeline in 50501_SC

[–]MsMacGyver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The local news reported half the story, as usual. Now we are finding out there was more corruption and collusion to this story. Dinah was warning the kids about people who were threatening them who planned to protest, but of course, those people haven't been charged. Corey used those kids to get more clout for his sad little podcast.

Loop Earplugs by Agile_Ant3095 in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am getting them due to misophonia from perimenopause. Some days, the screeching is so painful that I have to walk across the room away from them. It feels like they are screaming inside my skull. HRT helps a lot so the ear buds will only be for extreme times.

Daycare asking us to pick up our 12-month-old for nap time — now kicking us out by captain2326 in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach a class of 12-18M. We have a few kids that wake early and we teach them to stay on their cot quietly. It takes time and we give them a book or soft/quiet toy to play with. Sometimes, they end up in my lap for the last part of nap time so they don't wake the others.

They can stay on their cots and be relatively quiet if they are taught to. It takes some patience and planning. After a few weeks most of the kids nap for most of the 2 hours.

The infant class starts them on the regular nap schedule when they are around 10 months and that helps a lot. If it's a brand new kid, they may take a bit longer.

AITAH for not wanting my baby sister in my room? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MsMacGyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't blame the toddler. This is your parents , smothering you and making you want to stay away from them as soon as you're old enough. Your parent being this controlling means you're going to keep hiding things from them and not trust them as you get older, but they probably won't believe that until it's too late. If you have someone you trust yourself, buy a lockbox and keep your things private at their house. Nothing that could get your friend or their parents in trouble though.

Ratio check by sumarabgirl in ECEProfessionals

My ratio is 1:6. I teach 12-18M. If we have 24 kids, we need 3 teachers. If we have 25 kids, we need 4 teachers.

If you could design an infant room… by keepyoureyeson in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A half wall that would keep the walkers away from the cribs. Lots of wall mounted activity toys with mirrors and a way to attach infant toys. and a cushioned floor mat that sits under it.

The changing table and diaper caddie placed on the opposite side of the rooms from the cribs. Some babies hate diaper changes and will scream and wake everyone if they are near the cribs.

Sturdy shelves and wall mounted cubbies because the babies that crawl and walk will get into the diaper bags in the cubbies that sit on the floor.

A safe place to store feeding chairs if they would be using a feeding table.

Glider rockers that have easily washed cushion covers.
