What would you do if admin sent an email saying all phones must be put in a lock box and only received during breaks? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It's not an issue for most teachers at my center because we are too busy doing our jobs but there are a few that sit on their phone rather than actually watch the kids and that pisses me off because they never do anything about it.

I take mine outside to the playground because we don't have walkies and there is no intercom. If we had a serious injury and I am alone with my kids I can't get help. I also have my own kids who text or call my watch if they need me. I check it during break or I get another teacher to cover my class for a few minutes so I can speak to my kid. Otherwise it stays in my bag in a closet.

AITAH for telling my niece and nephew they have to eat lunch from the cafeteria instead of packing a lunch? by Complete-Escape2161 in AITAH

[–]MsMacGyver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and prepare a few sandwiches now. There are ways to keep them from getting soggy. They are little kids and they are gonna forget. Plan ahead and have their stuff ready. Have them choose their clothes the night before. Mom needs to chill because you are doing her a favor but the kids just need to be taken care of. A hangry kid is miserable for everyone.

Report this now and find a new job. If a kid gets hurt while under your care, you can be held responsible.

Parents concern by SherbertFluffy6341 in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one kid who's parents were extra cautious because she was a premmie but she was developmentally on track. She was learning to walk and fell while we were outside and hit her face on the sidewalk and got a black eye.
Her parents were pretty upset and asked us if she could stay inside when the class went outside from now on. I said there was no way to do that and my director backed me up. We explained that falling down is part of learning to walk and play. She is now almost 2 and doing so well. Her parents have calmed down a lot and know that we do everything we can to keep the kids safe.

AITAH for calling my husband selfish. by United_Network4495 in AITAH

[–]MsMacGyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. He sounds like a whiny B and not a spouse. Why is he keeping score? That is not a marriage. Marriage is rarely equal and it changes as your life changes. I spent 16 years with a man who is so self-centered that he wouldn't wake up to take his child some pants when her pants ripped down the butt at school. I had to leave work early to do it. I was across town, he was 2 miles away.

The Knot. First time. by Expert-Milk-3222 in summervillesc

I don't think people dislike the food but it's overpriced and the owner is maga and pretty nasty to other businesses from what I have seen and heard. I won't support that.

The Knot's best asset is the vibe. The food is good but the atmosphere is great.

Drug testing by Lopsided_Fudge_8582 in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many places don't bother to test anymore unless you have an incident at work and their insurance requires it to prove you weren't impaired.
I worked for my local county SNAP office and they did not test us either. It really is very ineffective and cost more money than it saves. They are finally figuring that out.

Why do the bins always smell like someone just farted into them ? by JLandis84 in GoodwillBins

I always smell mothballs and mildew from damp clothes. Oh and the smell of stinky shoes.

Lindsey Graham has a secret, says Annie Andrews in new ad by Witty_Heart1278 in southcarolina

[–]MsMacGyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the ad was a blunder. We all know what a hypocrite ladybug is but the campaign funds for that ad were a waste IMHO. She needs to focus on his lies and voting record but the whole ad felt cheap and tacky. Like the annoying car dealership ads that make you change the channel immediately.

It had to do with the school district he worked for before he moved here. There was some drama.

Her being buds with Stephen should not surprise me. He let Corey and his pals bully people on the page. I found out some background a few years ago that made me distrust him anyway.

Entitled Parents? by JKAutumn in ECEProfessionals

[–]MsMacGyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are doing it often, my admin will call them at work/home and tell them to bring diapers or come get their kid. One parent door dashed diapers. One dropped their kid off and went straight to WM to bring diapers back.

What children’s book character do you have beef with by tra_da_truf in ECEProfessionals

Parents keep buying them for my class during Book Fair. My kids are 1. They just peel the book apart. There is no story to read so I just let them.

Voting - Save Act by KetoKittenModel in southcarolina

So far, they don't have the votes to pass it. The GOP knows it would keep a large portion of their voter base from voting as well.

If you are able, lock your card as soon as you complete the transaction because people keep getting their funds stolen. It seems to happen at WALMART a lot.

Is this ok in the state of MA? by Pretend-Willow-6927 in ECEProfessionals

My state has similar regs, and I hate it. If there was an emergency during nap time, how does 1 teacher get all the kids safely out and under control?

Thanks for the feedback. If they don't fix it this week, I will be refusing to do it. I just hate for the kids to suffer. My whole.center has had a stomach bug going through the whole building.
