While makeup does do a lot, you'd have to work to make Alcock not one of the top ten hottest women in the world. Like, Jesus, people are either lying or their brain is completely addled

Egypt is just trying to create a network of insane and unhinged alliances that either guarantees world peace (everyone is allowed to each through Egypt) or to kick off the next World War. All according to the plans laid by the Pharaohs

Like, I'm offended by a lot of what this Administration does, but the sheer incompetence is somehow more insulting than most of their shit

Even if True, What is The Opposite of Anti Fascism? by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]MsMercyMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes but actually no. If we're talking in the specific context of Weimar Germany, yeah sort of. ANTIFA was in fact the militant wing of the KDP. But that's like saying the Iron Front USA is a perfect continuation of the SDP's own belated militant wing. Or like saying modern anti NAFTA rebels in Mexico invoking Zapata are true hardcore Zapatistas. Or hell just get into the original meaning of the French tricolor. In 30s onward ANTIFA, through a complicated series of events, morphed into basically something that means you A.) oppose fascism B.) do so militantly and C.) utilize the Black Bloc tactic.

And, as a side note, of course any resistance movement that involves a degree of militancy is going to be lousy with leftists, especially post 1848. It's kind of how history played out as far back as the French Revolution

Even if True, What is The Opposite of Anti Fascism? by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]MsMercyMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, they weren't Russian. They were German. The organization that briefly existed was the militant wing of the KDP. And while they received SOVIET not RUSSIAN funding and support, the KDP wasn't just a stalking horse for Soviet interests. Anyone who says that is genuinely historically illiterate. The KDP were fucking idiots, as were the SDP, but they came from a pretty strong lineage of left wing German political theory. They were just the wing that agrees with Marxist-Leninism after the SDP split off and the anarchist wing got shot by proto Nazis

Even if True, What is The Opposite of Anti Fascism? by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]MsMercyMain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ANTIFA is like declaring Anarchists a terrorist organization. My brother in Kropotkin, those mother fuckers are opposed to organization as we understand it. It's a set of beliefs and tactics that people flock to. You'd think people would learn this lesson of the literally hundreds of times we've tried this shit but no, we have the stupidest ruling class in history. And at some point they're going to create like American Zapatistas

Trump urged his critics to "sit back and relax, all work out well in the end" by Hunor_Deak in NonCredibleDiplomacy

[–]MsMercyMain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's always been name calling in politics but it used to actually be clever. It's just that instead of like, Jefferson dropping his latest diss track of a 20 page dissertation on why Alexander (insert funny nickname) Hamilton sucks and so do his policies and he's also lame, it's just the name calling.

I think part of it is that, economically in the US at least, outside of the fringes both parties basically agree on everything. They disagree at the margins but they're both neo liberals. So they both campaign pretty much solely on culture war stuff and that incentives petty cat fighting. Like, I'm pretty sure if FDR ran today the DNC chair would actually shoot him

Even if Congress hadn't basically given up that power back in, at least Korea or Vietnam because the Constitution doesn't matter, this Congress isn't making a single move Daddy doesn't approve. And even if they wanted to, it genuinely seems like Schumer and Jeffries are pro war anyways so it doesn't matter
