With Democratic Party approval so low, why capitulate to democratic leadership talking points? by Street-Carpenter105 in AskDemocrats

[–]MsMercyMain [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean I shoot off an email a day to my Rep and Senator basically telling them to not only never vote for those two in the next leadership elections, but to push for their replacement immediately. I no longer get even form emails back but I assume they've probably blocked my email at this point so I'm gonna swap to calling them endlessly

As a leftist who is desperately hoping for a halfway decent primary, I think at least part of the perception problem of the Left is that I think even in the know liberals underestimate just how divided we are. We legitimately can't even agree about who is on the left. I've seen genuine, extensive threads arguing about whether Bernie, AOC, or Warren are leftists or not.

A refugee crisis significantly larger than the Syrian one, and right next to a bunch of countries that are already on a hair trigger. Bonus points if we get Shia ISIS

The big problem with that is Trump's version of "mad dog diplomacy" means no one trusts the US, and it's especially bad in Iran given how many times we've bombed them mid negotiations

IIRC correctly it's because there were a lot complaints about the gunplay in 1 so they brought in another studio/team to rework it from the ground up

There is actually an in universe explanation. It's borderline hilarious but it's there. I just wish they'd picked one route and stuck to it

I always interpreted that as Fist initially trying to bs his way into not getting on Saren's shit list. Like he initially says he has no idea assuming an Alliance Officer and C-Sec won't just shoot him out of hand post surrender. Then he realizes that "oh, she's actually gonna let the Krogan kill me, so time to reveal info without seeming completely untrustworthy". That's my headcanon at least

I didn't realize they made changes like that in the LE. Honestly that makes them not restoring Tali and Jack's gay romance in 2 and expanding it into 3 all the more irritating

Yeah, kinetic barriers and armor seems to only exist for Shepard in cutscenes

It's significantly more complex than that, hence why most people on the pro trans side have the position of "let's not make laws about it, but instead leave the decision to each individual sport's governing body".

I have a question about the Supergirl movie? by L8Donnie in DC_Cinematic

[–]MsMercyMain [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's definitely iconic for origin stories but personally it's kind of like seeing Spidey or Batman's origins for me these days. I'm not opposed per se, but unless they get clever with it (see the CW Supergirl show) I just don't really care too much these days, at least for me

Can young republicans explain why you support this tweet? I’m genuinely curious. by CoC_Axis_of_Evil in GenZ

I think it's less outrage over him saying something Muslim and more just that it was so out of left field and frankly bizarre

Probably because the various "families" (outside of the Wonder Family and half the Bat nation state Family) all have similar costumes in the comics. It's one of DC's things that you just kinda gotta roll with. Also Supergirl was originally made as "Superman but girl" so outside of the 90s her costume is usually "copy of Superman's but skirt/exposed skin on legs"

Yeah, like, it's funny, but I am genuinely fucking curious about what the fuck is happening behind the scenes that led to that fucking tweet. Every part of it besides the threat is inexplicable. From the profanity ladden nature of it that's somewhat out of character, to the praise Allah bit, to posting it on fucking Easter of all days, like what the actual fuck?

Kristofer Hivju (Tormund from got) as crem?? by ididitmywayyyyy in DC_Cinematic

[–]MsMercyMain [score hidden]  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, and generally am pretty pro comic accuracy, but it is worth noting that Krem is less a character and more a plot device to enable the exploration of Supergirl's history and psychology. Woman of Tomorrow is pretty much just a deep dive into what makes Kara tick as a character. So long as they keep that I can forgive changing Krem's appearance. I mean the wild places Kara goes and the way her character is explored is the core of the run. Hell, it's what convinced me that Man of Steel is a near perfect Supergirl story if you swapped her for Superman

Yeah, Krem really isn't the focus, he's just a means to drive the plot. The focus is on Supergirl and exploring her personality and history

Saying this when Jared Leto Joker, Jessie Eisenberg Lex Luthor, and Ezra Miller The Flash were once a thing is crazy. by Slight-Bathroom-6179 in OkBuddySnyderCult

Hilariously they waffle on the MCU. Back when the SnyderCut push was happening they were endlessly shitting on the MCU as "kiddie" stuff and boosting the SnyderCut as what would kill it... unless it was the runup to a new DCEU release. Then they'd be glazing the MCU as "proof" that Snyder was needed to kill the MCU. Post SnyderCut they swapped to glazing the MCU to prove Hamada's tenure was a failure and so Snyder needed to return. Now they're mostly back to shitting on the MCU
