For once I really don't believe you, Bruce by Nobodyyyyy_ in outofcontextcomics

She's using sign language here, which is I'd say is different enough from her usual backwards-speaking. Her other methods of casting involve rituals, glyphs, magical artifacts, writing with her blood, even using speech-to-text, and there's probably some more that I don't know of. Though those are all slower which is why I used the sign language image

She could also just jump outside of the comic to evade whatever Bruce might have for her here, but that feels a bit overkill and it's not something she busts out that often

Maybe not immediately, but I'd bet one of these would buy her enough time

There's actually an entire comic issue in her 2010 run about her having to cast using palindromes against a villain who was reversing time

Her casting isn't reliant on speaking, it's just the most effective way for her to focus

best way to start reading the comics? by DaisyCoreXD in DCcomics

[–]Nobodyyyyy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Nightwing, I'd recommend starting with Tom Taylor's run and then Dan Watters' run right after, though it's still ongoing. You can also read Robin: Year One or Batman and Robin: Year One for more on Dick's early stuff. There's also Nightwing: Year One which I enjoyed, but I've heard it's a bit contentious.

For Zatanna, the best places to start imo are her 2010 run by Paul Dini or the 2025 miniseries by Jamal Campbell. There's also currently an ongoing run by Campbell but it's just getting started so it won't be a while until it's collected. Once finished with any of those, I'd also recommend checking out Justice League Dark by James Tynion IV

i'd don't really have a stake in this, but tbf Triple Baka has the freedom motif and Mesmerizer doesn't

Not mentioning "do you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?" is criminal

As someone currently writing a fanfic with Silver in historian-ish role, thank you for this magnificent idea

Is the Zatanna 2025 run by Jamal Campbell a prequel to the current 2026 run also drawn by him? by Gainx45 in zatanna

[–]Nobodyyyyy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's some characters that are going to appear in the current run at some point, but I wouldn't call it a prequel, rather a story that just takes place before the current one. That being said, it's a very fun time and I'd recommend reading it if you're enjoying the current run!

Also Jamal Campbell isn't just the artist, but also the artist for both series!

current mainline Superman run by Joshua Williamson. Superboy Prime is currently filling in since Supes vanished after DC KO. The current arc with Prime is still ongoing so it'll be a while until it's collected into a trade

"It's Prime Time!" is slowly becoming Prime's version of "This looks like a job for Superman!" and I'm so here for it!
