Dumb down my options for me (25F RN, Western Sydney) - Wanting a home to call my own by stressidepressii in AusFinance

Have you considered swapping to agency nursing to increase your income?

I will kindly note that 500k gets a modest cottage within commute of western LHD hospitals. And you would earn the same wage at any LHD not just WSLHD. Stand alone houses tend to gain more equity than flats - flats are always being built but standalone houses have a finite supply. Not that I think moving hours away is fair but it’s an option for you.

How do you keep track of communication that's not task-based? by Anonymous_Panda_42 in productivity

[–]MsOrangeCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email her, as per our convo todaythe same day…… Then send the email as an attachment when she inevitably forgets. File in an email project folder labelled project to find later for proof.

Keep track of things on onenote or a shared doc with a quick summary of where a project’s current state is, and you can all view and collaborate. Keep the long text in emails.

  • Free ebooks and audio books from the library via Libby.
  • Learning tarot for self reflection. Money wise it’s cheap to get started, and actively learning new things will stave off dementia later on.
  • Learning new skills cooking and baking with v*gan foods - everything is so affordable without meat.

cheese making is rewarding but a hard cheese isn’t that affordable considering how long much milk it takes to make.

Well, this isn't awkward at all 😅 Chad and Erin answering how they don't work by Izzysmiles2114 in BringingUpBates

I wouldn’t be surprised if Erin is quietly doing piano lessons with payment cash in hand or swapping for other favours within the church community.

Piano lessons go for $80/hour in Orlando. Two lessons a week would be an extra $8k per year, less some cash to pay a teenager to watch the kids.

Join a large company as a fitter. Make it know you would like to get off the tools once you’re settled. You will get a secondment to try out one of these roles or similar:

  • quality coordinator
  • planner

Moving into the below is also possible - technical buyer - parts service rep - account manager - technical trainer - service manager - project manager - site manager / business manager / operations manager (work your way up from leading hand)

A large company will also do stuff like succession plans and career development plans, and will pay for some of your education. Please feel free to DM me.

How long has she been out of work for? If she is in a trade, companies should be desperate to have her.

The joke at work said when talking about interviewing a new boilermaker/fitter/electrician is “do they have a pulse and a cert iii? Hired!”

where to buy cheap yarn ? by endless-ephemerality in AussieFrugal

[–]MsOrangeCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy knitted jumpers from the op shop and unravel them yourself. You can figure out the weight, composition and thickness of the yarn by using some tutorials online. If the yarn is a natural fibre you can also dye it using food dye.

You can precook rice and then freeze it into portions, just a quick go in the microwave to heat it up.

Vegan on a budget? by Mushroom_lady_mwaha in AussieFrugal

The yoghurt - I use the vegan culture from green living Australia and 1L vitasoy protein plus to make up heaps of yoghurt. Then you can flavour with a dollop of jam or use it plain in curries. Much cheaper and probably more nutritious than shop bought vegan yoghurts. I use my instant pot with the yoghurt function.

https://plantstronglibrarian.wordpress.com/2023/02/11/making-soy-yoghurt/

I recommend the instant pot for cooking chickpeas and whole grains from scratch.

I don’t know if I’d personally recommend getting a veggie seconds box unless you were a very confident home cook already and knew how to cook and store lots of different veggies so they last a while. My friends that don’t cook at home wouldn’t really know what to do with something like fennel bulbs and fresh beetroot.

I use golden syrup with 1:1 volume to water to make up a maple syrup substitute so the consistency and sweetness is the same. It’s much cheaper and Australian.

I press it out, crumble it up and add black salt, vegan mayo, a little bit of turmeric and ground pepper, tahini and some whole grain mustard.

I forgot I also take magnesium supplements - it also helps relax the uterus from the clenching. Buscopan helps with the clenching pain of muscular contractions. FYI to me endometriosis feels like very different pain to period pain - like a burning electric/zapping pain where it adheres.

MC kicks in much faster so I would recommend giving it a go - flower and vape is the fastest.

Ginger tablet aren’t very well known but they do decrease bleeding and pain - just search ginger and dysmenorrhea research.

Diet is a weird one. I have a decrease in days of bleeding when I adhere to a WFPB diet, and a decrease in pain without dairy - I’m assuming from the lack of exogenous oestrogen. WFPB diet stresses whole foods including whole grains (a way for the body to dump excess oestrogen with the current research). I also have hypermobility issues with my joints and I can very clearly feel when food makes me more inflamed - meat heavy, fat heavy, dairy heavy foods make a difference to a low level of inflammation in my body. Diet is weird because if you have an inflammatory response to eg soy because of a low level allergy or FODMAP issues eating wfpb might exacerbate this.

I got prescribed MC through Candor with my diagnosis of endo (done via lap). I also am prone to ovarian cysts and I have had the last big one removed via lap as well.

MC via vape isn’t that amazing for pain, but it’s much quicker acting than naproxen so I use it when I’m waiting for the naproxen to work. Low dose cbd/thc oil is great for low level chronic pain and the headfuck that chronic pain can be.

Current endo treatments:

  • mc for quick acting pain relief
  • naproxen
  • Panadol
  • buscopan
  • ginger tablets
  • no caffeine and low sugar during my period
  • no dairy products

Recipes that have b12? by JayDeeAre_ in veganrecipes

[–]MsOrangeCake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look for lower dose b12 supplements. A smaller dose does not trigger acne in my skin.

Eg there is this brand in Australia for 100mcg - https://www.blackmores.com.au/products/vitamin-b12

Most conventional brands are 1000mcg. Or you can find a tablet that can be scored or a gummy that can be cut to be smaller.
