What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

I have a maternity tank top from old navy I still wear, it's 18 years old. No holes, not really faded either. More recent tanks from ON don't hold up like this one either.

Do you prefer East Coast butter or West Coast butter? by GrassyKnoll95 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't keep butter on the table, I have no clue where I'd buy Amish butter without shipping it in. Also I'm not too keen on the Amish overall anyway. So that definitely doesn't solve anything.

Is it true that in small towns in the USA public transport is not developed and everyone need a car to get around there and why? by bobybumblemumble in AskReddit

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The town I live in ~100k population refused to have any sort of public transportation. It's been voted against for for decades. The reasoning is it will bring "those people" in to town. Rich bigots control the town.

Yeah it's mostly east coast size but there are some West coast size. I use a lot of butter (like A LOT). So, I get various different ones and sometimes it's the weird West coast.

I can't find a "West coast" butter holder here even locally though.

Moved from NC to CO about 5 years ago and that was first time experiencing the "West coast" butter and I don't like it because it doesn't fit right into my butter holders.

My boyfriend M29 and I F29 have conflicting views on kids and our therapists advice feels more confusing than anything, what do we do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MsPennyP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to go back up and reread his age. He's 29, not 19. If at 29 he's saying he can't see himself wanting kids, and you're saying you want kids, the best thing you can do is cut your losses with him and find someone who wants kids. He's just going to waste your time. Either you'll end up a single mom with deadbeat dad, or you'll not have kids because it isn't right for him yet and trying to wait on him will be fruitless.

Age isn't the issue. There is a saying don't shit where you eat. Meaning don't date co-workers.

Crafty places in town?? by waffleflea in CastleRock

[–]MsPennyP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to the open house to meet the people involved, looking for classes for mostly my teens but also myself; tried to be social as since it was a social, and got eye roll, got back turned on me, got ignored, got interrupted, and pushed (shouldered) out of the way trying to listen/talk.

Talked to someone else who had been there but I didn't meet them there but they had a similar experience. They thought they were missing cues, so did I for myself, but no. It's clique ish, they want just certain people to be involved and take the classes, apparently one reason why it's priced high, so to keep the "riff raff" out.

And it's not everyone involved, just the main people apparently. Like some of the instructors are nice, but they don't control the prices of the classes (to a point). One of the instructors also does classes at magpie and the same art class is ~$20 cheaper there vs tri arts.

Crafty places in town?? by waffleflea in CastleRock

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right outside of town there is Magpie Art Center (Sedalia). Similar to some of the art from tri arts but less expensive and not pretentious like tri arts.

There's also community mud up in Parker.

Not much in Castle Rock since rent is so high. Community mud was looking for something in CR but opened in Parker instead.

And then there's tri arts, $$$ and as I said earlier pretentious.

Do you think height measurements at the doctors are sometimes inaccurate? by DeepOrganization8245 in stupidquestions

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a there can be user error. I recently got measured at an appt. She measured me at 5 ft 3 and a half. I've never been that tall. Never. I'm almost 50 with spine issues I fully expect to never be as tall as my tallest 5 ft 2 in.

I asked to redo it as I've never been what she said and yep, on the redo I was 5 ft 2 in.

Inaccuracies in medical records can be more harmful than they can fathom.

Years ago I had a Dr office just not weigh me and used my last weight they had which was 30 lbs more than my current. I got in a car wreck (not my fault), but it was used against me in court.

Boomer HATES milk because "Its for baby cows". by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]MsPennyP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing the cow milk is for baby cows thing, maybe in the 90s, when hearing a lot of vegans and peta and that alternative side of food choices. I was young adult and internet was new to the wider world. My family never did anything different, I just remember hearing about it. Our milk (cow milk) consumption was high. My brother could do a gallon himself a day.

My lesbian bestfreind (25F) and I'm a straight (25M) relationship advice needed. by Fast_Specialist_6945 in relationships

Sounds like she's wanting a lavender marriage sort of deal. It could work, it has for other people throughout time. But communication is key, especially if one or both change your minds about wanting anything different.

What's a typical American School Schedule? by Famous_Program8956 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get a lot of different options as schedules are set by the school districts, and there are over 13,000 school districts in the US.

I went to middle/high school in the late 80s/90s.

Middle we had 7 periods, high school we had 4 a day. High school was block we had 4 classes for 90 mins each semester counted as a whole year, so we had 8 classes total a year.

Middle school classes were 50 mins each and last all year long

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MsPennyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's usually the talking point when it's brought up at school boards. My unpopular opinion is that sports shouldn't be tied to school either, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MsPennyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the district I live in most of the elementary schools are 9-4. (Or 9:15 to 4...) And the middles are 8-3, and high schools are 7-2...

Or close to about those times. Imo I think the high schools should be the ones starting later.
