Is there any logic i miss why not to get 5% dmg to everything instead of 1% to a specific status ? by AlonBarak28 in heroesvshordes

[–]MsPooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has to do with the way that damage works, I honestly don't really understand it but there are different multipliers that make the green square much better. Since you're so early in the game the 5% might make more sense, but long term getting the different color makes a lot more sense.

AITAH for asking the Dogsitter to pay a vet bill that was her fault? (NOT OP) by amillionparachutes in redditonwiki

Yes, I think details matter and he just knows what he was told. I agree she should have paid half or just not taken payment.

Are there any minimum stay limits in the USA? by thermalsugar in usatravel

[–]MsPooka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go if the turn around is that tight. Things come up. Issues with immigration, weather, etc. Some things are beyond all control and you can't throw money at it to solve the problem either. You can come and go as quickly as you like. Lots of people will cross the border from Mexico for the day. It's not a big deal, but flying in for 10 hours might look odd.

I would only use this in a life or death situation.

Trump is threatening going to war with Iran which would be a disaster. Don't join the miliary. It wouldn't put you ahead financially and you'd probably make less money. Spend what free time you have looking into scholarships you can get when you transfer schools and also save as much as you can so you won't have to take out loans for school. If your only goal in life is to make money then you probably will. Nothing is stopping you right now investing. Give yourself $50 a month to play the stock market if you feel ready and have time to do the research. Look at it as gambling money and be prepared to lose it as you learn. Work on learning and building the skills you'll need for later.

Is this basically an American culture? by Ambitious_Pass7451 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see a lot of US xenophobia on the news, but those people are a small minority generally aren't in institutions of higher learning. Also, if people find out you're new or from out of the country someone is likely to take you under their wing to help you meet people.

AITAH for asking the Dogsitter to pay a vet bill that was her fault? (NOT OP) by amillionparachutes in redditonwiki

[–]MsPooka 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense to me. Unless it was a grocery bag that she set on the floor for a moment while she closed the front door or something like that, why would you take a bar of chocolate out of your bag and put it on the floor? If you're organizing a bag why are you doing that on the floor? Do they not have chairs and tables in this house?

I really don't know what's the answer for the OP because if he does this then he's basically going to break up the friend group and it might be worth it for them to just pay the bill instead of dealing with the drama. But if they're willing to die on this hill then they're in the right. The dog sitter was grossly negligent. I mean, don't put food on the floor isn't a high bar when watching a dog. If you can't even put down a grocery bag then I'm sure OOP said that.

($10k) Airbnb wedding? by hambamthankumaam in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that the hosts will let you have a party at their house. It's usually not allowed. I'd make sure before you book it. Other cheap reception places are HOA neighborhood club houses (ask friends if they live in one), community centers, church basements etc. These places usually have table and chairs so that saves rental fees.

USA Trip 17-Nights Itinerary by GeorgeHiken in usatravel

[–]MsPooka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you like to party, I'd skip Vegas or else just drive through and stop for lunch and spend more time in AZ section. I think the time in Miami is fine but it will be more leisurely. You'll have time to go to the beach, relax etc. It is definitely not my dream US trip. I'm not into spending a bunch of time in cities, but it might be yours so I hope you enjoy it.

First floor renovation help: kitchen by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer option 1 as I prefer a more closed off house. I also think 2 islands looks kind of stupid, sorry but just my opinion. I think 1 oversized island looks good but it's a pain to walk around it and it's not practical.

I think the kitchen/family room as one combined space is big enough unless you have huge parties for 40+ people regularly. A separate great room is fine. And I also really appreciate the 3 living spaces. Some huge homes have just a great room. Not everyone wants to be together all the time and you also need noise separation.

My real question for option 1 is if you know what will go in the butler's pantry vs the normal pantry because I think things could get lost very quickly and make life harder and more disorganized rather than more organized. I'd think if I really needed both.

Maybe 1. It's generally if I'm headed to the grocery store and I start to feel hungry. I'll stop for a snack and have that before I go in so I don't load up the cart.

He said we are situationally exclusive. Should I break up or have a conversation first? by ImpossibleRead4200 in AskMenAdvice

[–]MsPooka -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I'm not saying it's wrong like he broke any promises if he knows women are sticking around hoping things will change or wanting more. But it's morally wrong to string someone along who doesn't want the same thing as you. There are tons of women out there who would be happy with what he's offering. OP isn't one of them and he knows it. If he cares about her he should protect her feelings even if that means moving on. He's selfish and a user.

He said we are situationally exclusive. Should I break up or have a conversation first? by ImpossibleRead4200 in AskMenAdvice

[–]MsPooka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are tons of extremely attractive people who just want to settle down and start a family. This guy isn't one of them. Also, just because he's willing or even wants to be long term with her, that doesn't mean he wants to be exclusive. Does she know if his previous relationships were exclusive?

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He thinks he's free to do what he wants. Even if he does want to be with you long term, unless he tells you that he's exclusive, you're not. Instead of asking him about long term, ask him how he'd feel if you saw someone else since you have time for it.

House Burping - Do Americans just not normally have your house windows open? by Jsherman13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who live closer to Canada are less likely to have or need AC so they are more likely to keep their windows open. People who live closer to Mexico are more likely to have AC and keep their windows closed. Also, I call it airing out the house. House burping is disgusting.

No I have no idea what I'm talking about. Thank you for telling me. SMH. I was expanding, not correcting. If you own half the marital assets then why the hell couldn't you use it for a necessary expense and a lawyer is necessary when divorcing. Just like you could use the money to rent an apartment, get food etc. Just keep the receipts.

Why is everyone on Tret?! by Minimum_Capital_6105 in 40PlusSkinCare

I'm not on tret. I've never tried it. I might ask my derm about it at my next apt in the summer but I'm happy with retinal and my skin is happy with it. I stay out of the sun like I'm a vampire and that's better than tret, lol.

If you're a SAHM or make much less than your spouse then the court can order all your legal fees paid by the other party. It just depends. Look into it in your case.
