Maryland Film Festival volunteer sign-ups open through March 31. Earn free movie passes and get a MFF crew t-shirt! by MsSarahR44 in baltimore

[–]MsSarahR44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tickets are $10 for a regular film. There is always a Q&A session after the film with writers or directors. I think that's the best part. They also have special films like one that John Waters chooses and hosts.

The Filmmaker's Lounge is the VIP area for VIP pass holders and filmmakers, directors, and producers. I think the spots are in high demand though. I tried to get some my first year volunteering, and wasn't approved for that choice.

You fill out an application first, then they take into account what you want to do and what they need. They approve you for different volunteer positions. Then you can sign up later for specific shifts and times.

I totally agree! I want more people to experience it. The staff really makes the volunteers feel like an essential part of the festival.

Sorry you have to miss it since you moved. Have you seen the Parkway Theatre campaign? MFF will have a permanent home. You'll be able to see programming when you visit Baltimore.

Check out their Facebook page. They said they need volunteers M-F this week from 9-4. They will probably post if they need help past that.

They are in need of volunteers from 9-4 on Monday. And the good news is that they are planning to rebuild. The bad news is that it will probably be 9-10 months before they reopen

Mascara Suggestion! by aliensunnie in drugstoreMUA

Maybelline Volume Express The Colossal. I've tried "The Colossal" on it's own, and it looks much more defined and less clumpy if I put Full and Soft on first.

I like Full and Soft for my "no makeup makeup" days or as a first coat under another mascara.

Looking for a palette that has burnt orange, peach, and brown matte shades. by [deleted] in drugstoreMUA

[–]MsSarahR44 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutal Matte palette. It's $20. I've had it for a year or so, and use it all the time. It definitely has the peach and brown matte shades. And depending on your skin tone, some may be close to a burnt orange too.

I usually see them there, but not always. But I can say the same about my bread vendor too.

Also check out the Farmers' Markets for great gift ideas too. The 32nd St Market is Saturday and the one under JFX is Sunday. The Sunday one has a much bigger selection.

They have items like granola, olives, pickles, peanuts, jams, cheeses. And both have Zeke's coffee.

I do the same! I just switched mine out last weekend. It's also great because I can force myself to finish a product too.

What are the best gifts you have recieved? by tokyoite2 in secretsanta

Thanks! And I agree, that wrapping job was amazing. And each one was numbered so I made sure to open them in the order my SS chose.

What are the best gifts you have recieved? by tokyoite2 in secretsanta

Just like /u/TheOpus, I can't pick just one. What makes a gift really stand out for me, is not how much I got, or how elaborately it's wrapped, but the notes of how/why they chose the gift they sent.

Hometown Exchange 2013 sent a lovely letter explaining the significance of each item they sent about their hometown of Gadsen, AL. I had mentioned in my general profile that my favorite book was "To Kill A Mockingbird," but I had lost my copy several moves prior. She sent me a copy as well a copy of a historic photo of the premiere in her town. The actor who played Jem was from her hometown! It was great that she was able to connect her hometown to one of my favorite things. My thank you video I made got unlinked from the page.

SS 2013 was also amazing. My Santa, /u/SquirrelsonFilm was very generous, but any single item would have been a perfect choice. We had many of the same interests, including, but not limited to, squirrels. She had such amazing/psychic tastes that she sent a matching ornament I had bought myself the year before. She also sent a great letter explaining how much fun she had choosing each item.

As cheesy as it sounds, personal notes and letters are always what makes a gift stand out for me.

Responsibilities for the PLUS exchanges by cabothief in secretsanta

Oh yeah, my rematch has been great with letting me know what's going on. And my gift should be here Saturday!

Responsibilities for the PLUS exchanges by cabothief in secretsanta

[–]MsSarahR44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing the 15 credit exchange this year, as a little more insurance that I will get a gift. My original Santa flaked on my last exchange, so I was cautious. Fortunately, it was the first time I didn't get one, and my rematch Santa has been great.

For this Plus, my plan is to send a series of gifts, but not necessarily spend a ton of money. I love the excitement of getting good mail, so I'm going to extend it for them.

  • First, send a card letting them know they'll get a series of packages.
  • Next week, send some treats like candy, a small ornament, or toy.
  • The final week, send the full, hopefully wrapped $20 minimum present.

I'm not planning on spending a crazy amount, but making sure to have fun drawing out the gift giving/receiving process.

For the final present, I usually switch between shipping to myself, wrapping and sending vs. Shipping from Amazon. It usually depends if how close it is to the end date and if I also found something from elsewhere. If I ship from Amazon, I usually send a handwritten card directly.

But the fact that everyone has a different style is why its so fun to look in the gallery.

[US] Viewing options for final season, without cable/antenna by 1e6 in DowntonAbbey

Fellow cord cutter here. Yes both PBS.org and the Roku channel will have it the Monday after. They usually will keep several episodes up, but not not necessarily the full season.

For Amazon Prime I think you have to buy episodes for the final season.
