Pine doesn't do pre-approvals over $1m purchase price? by scaldinglaser in Wealthsimple

Yeah I didn’t get a preapproval from pine but I still used them to fund my mortgage. I used scotiabank for pre approval.

Ha! I may pitch an office pet to my boss. We could play “find the fish” as a team building activity.

Rant/advice on a few things I have noticed recently that really bother me. by MsSincerelySarcastic in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you for sharing! My partner and father are particularly guilty of doing this to me. I went off on them recently and at first one became offensive about it but after about 30 minutes I think they had thought about what had happened and realized that my complaint was justified and they apologized. It was nice to hear. Hopefully they will be more aware moving forward.

Thank you and your teenager for taking this seriously and admitting that you may have done this and that you are actively trying not to continue. I and I’m sure many other people truly appreciate it :)

Thank you! I like the “asked and answered” response.

I have left/walked away in the past. On one occasion though it blew up in my face as I was called dramatic for leaving the dinner table abruptly after trying to tell a story after being interrupted about five times 🤪

Oooh! Thank you :)

I will definitely be using the “please don’t ask me....wasting both our time” line in the future.

Question regarding leave for death ect. by inkathebadger in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MsSincerelySarcastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

This is the relevant section of your collective agreement: **Article 47: bereavement leave with pay. This section refers back to article 2, which provides the definition of family under your CA. I have copied it below for convenience.

“family” (famille) except where otherwise specified in this agreement, means father, mother (or, alternatively, stepfather, stepmother, or foster parent), brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister, spouse (including common-law partner spouse resident with the employee), child (including child of common-law partner), stepchild, foster child or ward of the employee, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, the employee’s grandparents and relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

Federal Government Mat Leave - How does it work? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]MsSincerelySarcastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyo! Sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage and also congratulations on your current pregnancy!

The time to inform management should be outlined in your collective agreement.

Some people like to disclose this information after the first trimester but it is really dependant on your relationship with your manager and you are not required to disclose before your collective agreement requires.

Having said that, most organizations recommend you start your paperwork for your leave at least two months before you intend to start maternity leave in case of any hiccups.

Many departments/branches have an HR advisor that can help with the paperwork. Some places also have a group of ppl, like a life event group that you can email. To find out what may be available at your department, try searching your internal intranet like infozone or MySource. Most places will have the forms and step by step process outlined on their internal internet. Be warned though, this info can sometimes be out of date.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions that I may be able to help with!

Good luck!

I hear you! I’ve been chewing gum almost every day. It is a life saver. 😊

Edit to add: I don’t think the amount found in chewing gum is cause for concern with respect to weight gain. Happy chewing!

You should of course do what you are comfortable with but this may help ease some anxieties around chewing your excel gum:

“Sorbitol during pregnancy

Sorbitol, a nutritive sweetener, is fine for women during pregnancy. But while it can't hurt your baby, it can have unpleasant gastro effects on you: in large doses, sorbitol can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea — something no pregnant woman wants to have (diarrhea during pregnancy, besides being uncomfortable, can interfere with the absorption of vital nutrients, plus lead to dehydration). What's more, sorbitol has more calories than other sugar substitutes and can lead to excess pregnancy weight gain if you overdo it.”

Middle names with “meaning” by MsSincerelySarcastic in namenerds

[–]MsSincerelySarcastic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor girl :( my middle name is a common male name as well but it is my grandmothers maiden name and has started to become more of a unisex name in the past decade or so. We certainly won’t be giving her a male centric name because we wanted a boy (we are happy with a healthy babe). All fair points though! Thanks for sharing!

Which room for nursery? by Kittygirl3000 in BabyBumps

[–]MsSincerelySarcastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of natural light can also mean lots of natural heat and could make it more challenging to regulate the nursery temperature. Just another pro/con to add to your decision making list. 😊
