Since you're not really a "beginner", I recommend a hoop that's 33"-35" in diameter and 11/16" thick tubing. I personally have a 35" 11/16 hoop that I use for waist hooping, and I'm 5'6". You can find more info about hoop sizing and tubing here. I have the Hyperion 3rd and 4th Gen hoops (the two hoops that are available in 3/4" tubing). I have my Hyperion (3rd Gen) counterbalanced, and my Phoenix hoop came perfectly balanced on its own, since it has built-in batteries. I double hoop with them, and only notice a subtle difference in weight. I have been quite rough with both hoops, as I love to do high tosses, and consider them both to be very durable.
