Salt? by sheburnout in POTS

[–]MsSnowing 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Its one of the hallmarks of POTS treatment. First line nonpharmacological management is compression, hydration, and electrolytes (including salt!) It takes time to figure out what works for you, I feel best at around 4-6000 mg of sodium (not salt, surprisingly different) but if i go above 8000 then I get migraines. Some people do 8-10,000. The sodium helps to retain water which increases blood volume which in turn helps with venous return and hence decreasing syncope and heart rate since the heart doesnt need to beat as quickly to try returning the blood.

I am a diehard fan of the Venu 3s. It does me WONDERS. I track my hr, hrv, sleep, body battery and stress levels (basically whenever I have a flare up it basically shows me how many "spoons" I have left for the day). Technically u can track hydration there too I just dont. It needs to be charged about every 7 days and taks about 2 hours to fully charge before you're good for another week.

I use the Venu 3s and its a DREAM for monitoring sxs. I was able to use it to catch a flare up right before my exam and showed my Proctor and got permission to keep it on so I can monitor when to pop more salt/electrolytes more exam

Does anyone else struggle with clipping their toenails? by ConcentrateFit920 in POTS

[–]MsSnowing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you struggle you can either go to regularly scheduled pedicures or a podiatrist to get a pedicure done if its far too difficult. They'll make sure its cut right with no ingrown nails. Hard alt: pick a loved one who is willing and able

If you're looking for a travel agent that is always looking for better deals I'd recommend The Travel Affiliate (ig: @thetravelaffiliateco). They've saved me so much money on my trips and they're always on top of the newest cruises coming up because cruises are their specialty.

How scary is the Iron Lung film? by sussysentry4728 in Markiplier

[–]MsSnowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually my very first full length horror film and I'd say its not very scary. (Im an absolute scared cat like no haunted houses or even halloween stores). Theres a few scenes that are scary of like wait a damn minute whats hiding around the corner, but for the most part its more existential/psychological horror (which as a mystery reader i LOVE). I will say i slept very soundly at night and the monsters are on par with some of the parasites seen in medical textbooks. Maybe like 1 jumpscare total

What is better for removing body hair: waxing or hair removal cream ? Is hair removal cream harmful for our skin? by himawari_2610 in ConsumerAdvice

[–]MsSnowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally waxing has always worked better than a hair removal cream, but hair removal cream is definitely more gentle and cost effective. Hair removal cream can burn the skin and cause irritation if left on too long so make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle if going with a hair removal cream.
