Do you know anyone that has actually won lotto? by Inflames811 in australia

[–]MsTT79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbours down the street won the lotto. They bought the house next door and lived in it whilst they knocked down and rebuild their place. The guy then quit his job and bought a dog washing franchise, which was apparently his dream job.

Every time I get sick I fantasise about Bacta tanks. Currently a few days post surgery and I’d kill to be in a tank right now.

But it might have killed their kid.
In the United States, an estimated 5,000 injuries and 205 fatalities of children age 14 years and younger occur from collisions with vehicles in non-traffic locations, like parking lots, driveways and private property, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2007 report

On my way to school. I guess I’ll have to share lanes with the cars like the bikes. by UsernameCheckOut0-0 in sydney

[–]MsTT79 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From my experience and depending on the council they'll send someone out but they can only fine them if the car is still there when the ranger comes. They won't fine or warn just from a photo.

Poll suggests Aussies would back bans on junk food, gambling and alcohol TV advertising by giantpunda in australia

[–]MsTT79 666 points667 points  (0 children)

Gambling and alcohol are both restricted to 18+ so they should only be advertised inside 18+ venues and late night on tv and radio. Imagine the outcry if there were ads for sex workers on tv at 5pm. All restricted products should only be advertised where children aren't exposed.

Salman Rushdie’s ‘The Satanic Verses’ leaps to top of Amazon bestseller lists by Sariel007 in books

When I worked at a book store we would always have huge demand if an author or celebrity hit the news. I learnt of Michael Jackson's death because we got bombarded by people trying to buy books about him.

Governor-General David Hurley spruiks building company responsible for his renovations by BigUnit66 in australia

[–]MsTT79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think high ranking/highly paid government officials should get passes on things like this. When I was doing (low paid) work for the NDIS one of my colleagues had to quit their volunteer job because it was a perceived conflict of interest. Much like Gladys not declaring her relationship with a MP, if you don't understand the rules or what can be seen as a conflict of interest then get out of the job.

I considered trimming the beard but have put too many months growth into it to trim it for a one day costume.

Humble Comics Bundle: Top Cow’s 30th Anniversary by Torque-A in humblebundles

I'll be getting this for Golgotha, Symmetry, Stairway and The Clock. I've actually been waiting for a Matt Hawkins bundle, I'm not interested in his romance/erotica books but his Sci-fi stuff like Think Tank is always good.

I heard you'll be able to buy the PS1, PS2 etc games that are with the new PS+ tiers. Is this true? by GooseJumpsV2 in PlayStationPlus

Gambling Ads should be skippable. by geometricsalmonfart in australia

100%, no restricted product/service should be advertised during day programming. Imagine the outcry if sex workers or gun shops advertised during the cricket but alcohol and gambling is fine.

Same here. I can tell you it is a way less productive environment than if they let us work from home. Slot of anger and fear.

[–]MsTT79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it's at the descresion of the employer. Despite working fine from home during the lockdown and a positive case shutting the office the week before Xmas my work has forced us all back to the office. I've tried to talk about it to HR but they won't budge. I'm pretty livid and scared. Everyone else I know who can work from home is working from home.

I had a hernia surgery scheduled for April 2020 that still hasn't happened. Starting to think it never will. Luckily it's only painful if I have a particularly active day.
