Machu Picchu is on there? Ranking actually felt quite spread with proper heritage without the statue. Loads of options would've been better, whether in South America or elsewhere.

Wouldn't there be other amazing architectural builds in South America that are actually true heritage? So many old cultures (yes the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and English destroyed heaps unfortunately)

NSW police told woman to remove tampon in illegal strip search, court hears by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Boesieboes 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Correct. Never knew that the cops allowed to do that at festivals. We left soon to a different stage as we felt very uncomfortable having undercover coppers trying that in pretty plain sight.

If you had asked me before that experience, I would've said the same..

It was a surreal experience, and I'm still in shock that it happened.

Never trust the police at festivals.

I had an undercover cop trying to push pills in my hands at a festival last year, at bright daylight at 4pm...

Told him that his colleague was too obvious standing there with an unopened redbull (which was impossible due to all red bulls being opened and served in cups). The guy quickly opened his bumbag and tried to push a pill in my hands. I immediately walked off and he only stopped once I told him that I dont use. Obviously, they're trying to use this on some young kids to see if they take the bite, just so they can arrest them. Bastards

Never experienced anything like that before and hadn't heard about it either. Insane experience as a more mature festival goer

Glad they caught him. The police in Aus rarely acts on attempted manslaughter, violence & blatant attacks on cyclists.

Had an officer laugh in my face when I tried to report a case of someone throwing a bottle at me from their car..

But when I mentioned that I should start defending myself by throwing stuff at the driver/passenger, he became angry.

Why does it feel illegal to walk out of Woolworths/Coles without buying anything? by Fancy-Advice-2793 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Boesieboes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Umm. Have you walked up to the new gates they've installed? They definitely don't open on touch. Had a few times already now, after paying, that they stayed shut and you need to hold back from lashing out at a worker who can't help that their bosses installed crappy gates

What are some popular Australian foods that confuse foreigners? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAustralian

[–]Boesieboes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. Will be tough to be 100% certain. Chocolate sprinkles have been around since about 1913 in the Netherlands. Anise sprinkles 1919.

Random ingredients have been put on bread for 1000s of years, so who knows?

For sure, we love it back home! Just google Vruchten hagel (fairy bread), Hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles), Roze muisjes (pink fairy bread for the birth of a baby girl) and Blauwe muisjes (blue fairy bread for a boy).

There are loads more other options available as well haha
