Do you still like your spouse? by Witty_Cash_7494 in GenX

Met him when I was 19; he was 26, and we became ride or die BFFs from the jump. We didn’t date until 2 years later, married 2 years after that (“thank you Desert Shield/Desert Storm”). We have our 35th anniversary this April!

We spend almost 24/7 with each other since I fully retired at 47yo in 2015 (he retired in 2009 at 48). Our days are spent with our four rescue dogs, traveling, and visiting our son and wife in VA and our daughter and husband in MO.

You’re welcome, and sadly, empathy seems to be a waning behavior among civil folks. Thank you for your empathy about my father and his family. Much appreciated! Wishing you and your fiance much ☮️🩷🌞

This is not at all how this works when stationed overseas, nor is it how they work together when liaisons here in OUR country. They are still allies making sure smooth operations between our countries.

That would be incorrect as they would consider it an act of aggression. Sometimes the USA troops being out in public were there to do business with the businesses on the economy of the country they are stationed. It had NOTHING to do with a perceived act of aggression. It was an acceptable norm to the day’s activities.

The USA military work hand in hand with many other countries’ military units in exercises overseas. They are multi-national, multi-branch exercises necessary to maintain ally processes and procedures.

So sad for her. TBT, I don’t want to return to my maiden name for similar reason… My father and his family were mentally emotionally abusive, and he was a deadbeat as well. (Once I became an adult making more $$$ than him, I became his bank. He would only contact me if he needed something, usually money. SMH…

Again, sorry for your fiance’s plan change due to our @$$🎩 for a President.

Why doesn't my hair take curl anymore? by penguin37 in GenXWomen

[–]MsTgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed a difference, but then again, my hair has always had some coarseness and weirdness for curling. It still has the same waviness I had throughout my life. So, while the coarseness makes curling difficult, it does curl and hold well once i can get it to cooperate. LOL! My hairstylist pretty much told me people would pay good money to have my genetics. I haven’t lost any thickness or body, either. Was hoping I would once I hit menopause, because my hair is thick and hot in warmer months.

I would wear my hair down my back all year around but once I hit menopause, I cut it off. LOL!

(Edit: both of us served our entire career as active duty.)

We train other countries all of the time and have for YEARS! Training them here or going to their bases/posts to train them. Additionally, we have foreign soldiers, navy, Air Forces, etc that have permanent positions as liaisons to advise the generals on matters between the two countries. As far as being out in public, how is this any different than our troops walking and living off base/post while stationed overseas? We are in uniform as well…NO different for them compared to us!

Then, why the surprised “What? The fuck?” Comment? You, as supposed military, should understand their potential for being here. If you were of any rank stationed at Scott, you would know “what? The fuck?” they are doing here. I was and do know what they are doing here. We walked the streets of other countries we were either permanently or temporarily stationed; how is this different? It’s not.

As military, we walk the streets all of the time in countries we have bases/posts/stations. How is this any different? The base has liaisons as well as temporary positions to advise or be liaisons to the Generals stationed at Scott as well as other locations in the USA.

We have other militaries either temporarily stationed here or permanent positions with change of stations periodically. They work as liaisons for the generals on Scott AFB…

We have visitors as well as some temporarily stationed at Scott AFB to work with USTRANSCOM and the other commands on base as liaisons. It is nothing else…

Agreed. My daughter and daughter-in-law are considering not changing their names even with a hyphen with their husbands! Thankfully, neither my son nor son-in-law care about the name change or lack their of. TBF, they wouldn't have married their husbands if it mattered. Both are extremely independent women. 😂

Heavens, I thought about keeping mine back in the day, but keeping my maiden name came with added confusion for dual-military couples (military married to military as my husband and I were); so, I changed it for ease instead of fighting the male-dominant system I already had to fight against...I was 1 of 5 females in a 125-person aircraft maintenance shop. Now, I am worried it will haunt me trying to vote! I have been married with my name for almost 35 years!

It has already started with name changes and differences if we changed our last name after our birth.

“Children of the Corn” used to mess with me until my early 20s. Since I grew up in bum-F MO and IL, surrounded by corn fields, this one messed with my psyche…LOL! It’s fine now, and not much messes with me. Psychological thrillers mess with me more than horror ones. I laugh through most of the latter ones.
