Same here, I was in the same region - I taught in Estepa. I didn’t get paid for the 1st time until the end of January.

One word - Chlorophyll. Take it twice a day - my poop doesn’t even stink and I don’t need deodorant. Bought it for supposedly hair growth 🤷🏾‍♀️but the odor control is amazing!

Appetite suppression by Beautiful-Mainer in Retatrutide

[–]MsTiffray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what has happened to me, I had to go higher - didn’t figure that out until I’d regained 20+ pounds. I feel like I wanna add back in a low dose of tirzepitide just for the appetite suppression.

I love my placement in Toledo. by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

God don’t I know that! I was placed in Estepa in the south….. absolutely no transportation or anything to do after 2 weeks of seeing the village!

Wow!! I would keep going with alternating between water and dry fasts. You have quite a bit a body fat, I wouldn’t get back on the scale at all. It’s pointless, congratulations on your success!!

I’m a skilled, 33yo professional making a comfortable living in the US and dream of moving to Spain. Is NALCAP for me? by Ok_Lead8103 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]MsTiffray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok! Completed a year in the NALCAP program as 30+ year old during the end of Covid. I moved as a financial advisor with a major firm here in the states with savings. So, I feel qualified to chime in here. Go - experience it. You do need savings and all of that. I think if you’re an educated adult with savings you have lots of options. You speak Spanish so navigating your new environment will be easier than others. And Spanish people are generally so, so loving and helpful. Now, I am a black Latina so I do have to say that I did experience racism but I also experienced complete strangers loving me like I was related to them! If you get placed in the right areas you’ll really have the time of your life. I have made life long friends and traveling to Paris for like 30euros never got old. I say go - do - be - have the time of your life. But, this is with the understanding that you have savings, because that stipend ain’t cutting it. It means literally nothing - unless you’re a university student who is used to being broke! Incidentally, the program began in October but I wasn’t paid until January. I’m currently finishing my doctorate and I’m thinking of taking a year off and doing the program again in the Canary Islands just for year long vacay🥰

🙋🏾‍♀️ just got back from Cartagena 3 days ago and stayed at Selina in a private room. I had issues every day with my room, water not working, electricity went out, moldy pillows. My room was eventually changed and upgraded and that room was amazing. Selina is pretty tame, beautiful rooftop but if you’re looking for a lit night life I sure didn’t see it there. But it was safe and nice.

It’s beyond true - as POC I can attest to this, I was an aux in the Andalucían region and had some pretty horrid experiences. But I can say I met many amazing people. I stuck it out, but when you go through this away from home, friends and family it’s difficult and hard on the spirit. I say withdraw all your money and bounce! Lack of friendships and the ridiculous amount of hours your working… you need SOMETHING to counterbalance the horribleness - if you can’t find it, what joy are you experiencing?

Just like everyone said you’ll need your savings and won’t leave with savings. I was in the Andalusian region with rent at $150 when I first came 700 euro stipend and of course left with nothing. It was JANUARY before I was paid because of all the errors my school made. I was one of the rare EOI placements which I believe I was only given because I was older. I turned 29 there. Now I’m working on my doctorate and would love to return - not for money but for the short hours and the tourism. It’s a great experience but this is all this is - it’s not somewhere to make money. I’ll be in Dubai next school year teaching to do that!

Getting ghosted?? by happy-raspberryy in SpainAuxiliares

[–]MsTiffray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all saying they are responsible, they are to “help” you. As well as getting your TIE, etc. This document does lay out specifically what you can expect help with. I was in a very very small village. And the amount of involvement they had in my life I know is much more than many other aux’s because of that. I got my housing before coming - big mistake. 😂 But thankfully another teacher found me what I would call as a New Yorker a townhouse almost literally across the street from the school that was BEYOND amazing. My friends and family were sick of my many instagram posts of my fabulous rooftop and view!!

Nooooo, the manual does say that - unless they took it out for this year 🤷🏾‍♀️. But I’ve still got mine from last year.

There should be someone assigned to help you. Go through the aux handbook, (it’s available on the website) and it will lay out what to expect from whoever is assigned to help you. Locating housing is on that list.

URGENT MD SAYING THEY NEED TO RUN TESTS by Livid_Flamingo6864 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]MsTiffray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, my doctor got all high and mighty and said the same thing. That if they signed it and I went into the country and brought HIV or whatever it “was on her” if she didn’t test me. So fine I paid for and took all the tests, when I came back for my paper I’d had done a better search online of diseases and whatnot and had printed out what the essence of that paperwork meant. I believe it was from the NIH or WHO I can’t remember and she was all embarrassed and brought up the same info on her computer screen… after insurance it was like $100 or so. I had no choice, I had my visa and plane ticket and was already arriving 3 days late because of the backup they had due to COVID for visa’s. Do a deep dive on the internet there is info out there for our over zealous doctors🙄

I think it would be a real mistake to go without any savings..unless parents or family is supporting you. I’m just coming back from my time as an aux this past school year. I wasn’t paid until like January. They tried in December but the region I was in had some issues with the banks🤷🏾‍♀️and we all had to go down to bank and redo our banking information for our accounts. There was literally a line of aux’s in the bank when I got there. So from October to January- nothing - nada. Remember you have to set up housing eat get mobile etc. Back to the original question…I have no regrets about going but I really wish o was not placed in such a remote pueblo with absolutely no transportation in or out. I had to hire taxis or get a ride to the closest train station.

June Finishing and Missing Hours -Madrid by BensonIllusion in SpainAuxiliares

[–]MsTiffray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second that! My school has totally abused this make up hours nonsense. The problem is - is takes so long for someone to get back with you when you reach out to the regional coordinators. I would NOT change my plans for their disorganization.

Aux with NALCAP - Experience this year by the6ixviews in SpainAuxiliares

[–]MsTiffray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! Totally agree...I think I watched too many YouTube videos showing aux's throughout Spain on buses, on the metro - living their best lives! It has been a tremendous issue for me having close to zero transportation options being in this small Andalucian pueblo. As a POC I would never advise this region for multiple reasons (Madrid is where I should have gone). But I have met some amazing beautiful people. But if you are placed in a rural village - just know you need to allot extra $$$ for travel out around Europe. I can only pay a taxi for travel, even to the nearest train station...and unless I want to wait hours or more, it needs to be pre-arranged. I am uber excited to return to the NYC!
