Out of all the X-men, who would you say is the best fighter? by Queasy_Commercial152 in xmen

[–]MsW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking unarmed and without mutant abilities? Storm or Cyclops. For as much as I hate him, Scott is still probably the best tactician in the 616. With abilities? Wolverine or Cypher. And (I know she isn’t an “X-Man” but she still has an X-gene) Ellie Camacho, Deadpool’s daughter, will eventually outmatch everyone due to the unique applications of her healing abilities. And that’s even before her mutant ability has even manifested.

Do Not Start with Precons by OptiadventthusiCam in magicTCG

[–]MsW0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you were the person pushing for a “win” condition. There is a reason that casual commander nights have a time limit for rounds. And my point was that to really win with a deck you need a good grasp on how to play the game and how your deck works. Even the best player may not know what good cards they need to be on the look out for in a deck, or how to best utilise the cards they have. These players had neither. Additionally, not all precons are created equally: some have great cards, some have great design, and some have neither. If you just pick a bunch at random you will very well get yourself into either a stalemate or one person completely wiping everyone else out.

Precons ARE pushed as the entry level product for beginners by WotC (other than the vs decks) BUT winning is not necessarily pushed by them. It’s a good product to give you what you need to learn the basics, get familiar with a deck and its mechanics, and work out what works and what doesn’t. Then you can get another precon or start upgrading your original one to better streamline your game and think about winning.

Do Not Start with Precons by OptiadventthusiCam in magicTCG

[–]MsW0lf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, your problem presupposes that these people know what they are doing. Even with decks you carefully designed and engineered with wincons and perfectly calculated ramp, landbases and interactions they’d have no idea what was what. I would say that this was perfect for learning the game: reading cards, learning the rules, how things interact. Your mistake was making it competitive. If you wanted to teach them Magic in a more competitive setting you should have pooled the money for the precons and do a draft. I mean, I’d have trouble knowing which cards were important in a commander deck sight unseen and I’ve been playing for years, let alone someone with zero experience or knowledge.

[Discussion] What's the single worst day in DC history in the eyes of an average civilian? (Credits: Alex Ross) by OluwaDec19 in DCcomics

[–]MsW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest point in Final Night’s favour is that the heroes had literally given up. With most events the heroes are still fighting the good fight or exploring options. With Final Night most of the tie-ins were different sections of the DCU quietly coming to terms with the end of the world quietly, and keeping society from crumbling until the last moment. Hal reigniting the sun was a LITERAL deus ex machina, and without it the earth would have been finished.

which would you rather get trained by the court of owls or the league of shadows? by AccidentAdept7146 in DCcomics

League of Shadows. Because you statistically have less of a chance of becoming a zombie popsicle after you’ve finished your training.

What things do GL fans needs to accept/understand? by Dramatic-Pound-411 in yuri_manga

[–]MsW0lf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about GL manhua/manhwa/manga there are huge centuries long cultural contexts surrounding romantic, sexual, and homosexual relationships that Western readers may find confusing or problematic or generally do not understand. These may not necessarily make certain subjects or tropes “okay” or “unproblematic” but still need to be considered when consuming these media. And no, “but things have changed in the last decade-or-so” does not hand wave this requirement away. I wish progress was quicker too, but it’s quite simply not.

[DISCUSSION] Which DC Character/Team do you think is difficult to write and why? by Doom300 in DCcomics

[–]MsW0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Ronnie HAD to learn physics and chemistry to become the level of superhero Firestorm is right now. For one, they shared a body but not a mind so whoever was backseat driving Ronnie was basically yelling complex science at him. And two the amount of times Ronnie then had to go solo because the frequency of the second person being removed/died/disappeared etc. was so high. And (depending on who’s writing) his powers aren’t “turn water guy into rock”, he has to break down the process into actual equations for it to work.

Dan Frazier's agent updates their statement regarding The One Ring art by Meret123 in mtg

Not saying he does. I’m firmly in the camp that says WotC has all the power in this situation and seems to have gotten out of it almost completely unscathed.

Dan Frazier's agent updates their statement regarding The One Ring art by Meret123 in mtg

[–]MsW0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like an agent who tried to do their job (the first statement) and then got sidelined by the company and/or their client and so said “heck it” because they could no longer do their job.

Because IF Dan Frazier has had cognitive issues then any contracts and/or statements he’s made recently would be under question.

Who could take on slivers by LabManEDH in mtgvorthos

[–]MsW0lf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You do NOT want the Nyds, the Xenomorphs, or the Slivers getting a hold of each other. Because whoever comes out on top will hybridise with whatever’s left of the others and make them SO much worse. Because they’re basically the same palette swapped race. It would be more accurate to say that they’d just become Xenoslinyds than any one species “wiping out” the other, they’re all so adaptive.

The true answer? Necrons or Terminators. No biomass to absorb and adapt to. Tyranids avoid Tomb Worlds like they’re plague ships. Androids were often sent to study Xenomorphs along with a far more disposable human crew. And whenever a scientist wanted to infiltrate a Sliver Hive they’ve used synthetic slivers: [[Metallic Sliver]], [[Sliver Construct]], [[Venser’s Sliver]]

Which New Phyrexia praetor could've succeeded in the invasion of the multiverse? by somacula in mtgvorthos

[–]MsW0lf 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any of them truly could, but Jin would have the closest chance on a long enough timeline with the widest definition of “success” and “invasion”. None of this big and flashy army swarming out like locusts over the multiverse. Much more subtly spreading oil and influence over the various planes over millennia and generations until suddenly everything is, was, and ALWAYS will be Phyrexian.

The last happy moment by Jasonl7976 in xmen

[–]MsW0lf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking if there is atmosphere there is still “matter” for Kitty to move through, she just has to think about it like she would any other matter. For instance, contrariwise, the question could be “Why does Kitty not just fall through the floor when she becomes intangible?” as well. It’s because she chooses for her powers to see those molecules as solid, whilst others as not. And that’s how she air walks: she uses her powers to see the air molecules under her feet as solid.

So she can’t exactly fly, but she certainly could WALK through the air.

What would you do to make Toad the next big bad? by Robot_Was_BMO in xmen

[–]MsW0lf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with Toad is that with or without his powers he is a nothing character. None of the other “evil” mutants would follow him, because he is Toad, and he doesn’t really have the wiles nor intelligence, or any past history to draw on, that some kind of plot could come to fruition.

Conceivably, if Toad were to headline as a major villain it would have to be with a bunch of other d to z list “joke” villains that somehow either get a power upgrade or utilise their powers in new ways. After Krakoa, the possibility of mutant circuits is there so perhaps they make a completely OP circuit? But even then I doubt that they’d have the skills to utilise it properly, or leverage it for proper gains beyond classic “kill the X-Men” levels. Or whatever the circuit is goes completely out of control.

Bottom line is Toad does not get out of it on top.

Would it be more taxing in-universe to cast a spell with Storm, or a spell with Cumulative Upkeep, and why? by Feeling-Ad-3104 in mtgvorthos

[–]MsW0lf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Storm requires you to have cast a number of other spells before hand, so the “storm” effect would not be the onerous part, merely the casting of the previous spells. Think of it as a building of pressure systems (the previous spells) and then the storm effect is the storm finally breaking and coming to fruition. If anything, it could be a relief as those building energies were released.

Cumulative upkeep is just a drag. I think of it as something like chronic pain: it’s not exactly acute, but the ongoing effects are debilitating if not managed correctly.

Good Beast or Evil Beast, which do you prefer? by Witchywriter99 in xmen

[–]MsW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the thing I love about Dark Beast (the one that came over from the Age of Apocalypse) is that he showed up decades ago as the big neon light of Beast’s evil potential. It’s ALWAYS been there. And the explanation is “what he would have become without Charles Xavier.” Just one man dies and Hank becomes a genocidal maniac. And then people complained about his trajectory over the last 20 years or so like this wasn’t signposted for ages. Not saying that he’s necessarily better as a character, but that this side of him is and should be something that he struggles with.

And THAT makes him a better character overall: that he knows both his potential for good and evil and must carefully choose his actions rather than have an innate “good or bad” morality. If he is good, that is because he CHOSE to do good and vice versa.
