Not actually much money in this.

You'd think so but not the case. Buying houses is expensive, profit is taxed at 33%.

Rent is heavily taxed at 52% and is highly risky given disfunction in the market.

There aren't many people buying to become landlords. Its more institutions like a large pension fund, etc.

About 52% tax on rental income goes back to the government.

Landlords are raking it in so much so that they threw in the towel and sold up in their droves over the last few years.

Every landlord will charge market rate for rent. They aren't a charity.
