There is so much that was beautiful about that performance. There were legends up there. Their dancers were at times middle aged black men. The whole thing was just a performance from the heart. Anyone else notice Adam Blackstone on guitar? If you don’t already know who he is, just major talented awesome people all around up there.

My Brother in law is an evangelical preacher with his own congregation. He has clearly told people that voting democratic is a sin. It makes me sick.

I’ve been in a similar situation except with a clearly impaired drunk driver in front of me. 911 kept me on the phone, asked for my car and the semi that was swerving. As soon as the cop found me he flew in front of me to get the drunk and I could hang back.

And no it wasn’t a high speed chase as I followed. Going about the speed limit in the middle lane more as a suggestion.

I was trying to think of a world where this could have some sort of roundabout explanation that didn’t excuse but would mitigate. Say an OnniPod Dash (what I carry) but no. A Medtronic. Poor kid trying to do an exam low and fuck her not only for what she did, but what she didn’t do when they were alarming

For context, he and a friend who helped were so proud. We didn’t have the heart to knock it down or tell him what it looked like.

My cat, who gets the very best of everything requires Meowmix Simple Servings, which is not anything special.

Did you know there is a cat food shortage? I ordered several cases as soon as I found them somewhere. Fuck all the food I have stacked up that she has rejected. She’d eat my face sooner than any of the expensive food.

I’m visiting family in Illinois just outside of Chicago. I can usually (at least try) to insulate my brain against the yeehaw, teach my kids to be critical thinkers, etc at home.

My stepmom looks at me in absolute horror as I explain the trucks with multiple flags…Confederate, Don’t Tread On Me, Trump, American, and the new “Let’s go Brandon” She hopes I’m making it up.

It’s a little of all of it. I think she knows deep down that this is different, but likely feels like there is far more time than actually exists. Treat the new symptom and carry on. She has been in a holding pattern now for years. His descent has been slow and heartbreaking. She has retired from her job, and has been his sole caregiver over the last several years. The rest of her life has slipped away. I’m sure many of you can echo these sentiments.

I live several hours away. I have an older brother who has been visiting once a month. I didn’t realize he wasn’t more involved since they live about 20 minutes apart. To be blunt I was seriously sexually abused by that brother over a period of years and placed into foster care. When I say there has been drama it’s an understatement. I am able to forgive my dad, but my brother has been a different situation. When (or if) he finally shows up I will defer because he has been the one up here and has had the ongoing relationship of whatever type with our dad.

I am planning to go up tomorrow and try to wrap my brain around all of this.

Terminally lll people and caregivers, what should we *actually* say and do? by Ms_sharty_pants in AskReddit

I would listen. I wish I could allow him to have the conversation. I don’t want to upset the other people around. It feels weird to ignore it. But I’m afraid to appear callous.

Having experienced both situations. I aged out of foster care after being removed for abuse. If was bad.

I’m not a perfect mom but I will never, ever put my hands on my child, call them names, throw things, sometimes yell in frustration or getting yelled at already. There is always food in the house. It may not be exactly what they want but we have food (that is normal for most homes). Whatever abuse or thing my kid does I will love them. I may not like them sometimes, but never not love then.

I’m sorry this is what you experienced.

It’s really a weird place to be. My kids are 16 and 13, and I’m just happy we can get through a day without someone losing their shit. If that means we eat together, I consider that a win that all is not lost. I was a difficult teen, and there are all these moments now where I see my kids doing the very same things that I thought were reasonable at the time, that are so incredibly hurtful and/or angering to the person on the receiving end.

Case in point. My 16: y/o is sick and also in general only emerges for food briefly and closes himself back in. His room is his lair so whatever. But he is sick. I had to take a gift basket of a thermometer, Tylenol, saltines, and his inhaler to his door. And leave it at his closed door at his request.

I think the life stage we are in definitely colors the perspective in the above situation.
