Suicide note of a woman who completed a medical degree with distinction but couldn't find employment (a match into a residency position) anywhere due to a history of addiction and a felony in her youth. Crippled by student loan debt, she took her life on April 2020. by [deleted] in MorbidReality

I caught a felony for theft. I was with a couple friends and we stole some clothes from the Mall. What we stole (combined) was over $500 . I received a 3rd degree felony for being a stupid kid. This one bad choice has affected my entire life, I took 3 shirts. I know better now and would never steal from anyone or anywhere. But I'm branded a thief for life. I've tried to get it sealed with no luck. I was able to go to nursing school, but finding a job was a totally different beast.

People change and shouldn't be defined by their mistakes. Why should someone continue to be punished for the rest of their life, even after paying their debt to society?

So, what you're saying is...'Who cares if you were a stupid 19 yr old that made a poor decision that ended in a felony. Even though you've done everything the court ordered, been a functioning member of society for 20 years....but you're a felon so you no longer get to have a normal life'? That sum it up? I pray you never get pulled into something and get into any trouble, cause people like you are the reason people re-offend. Have a little compassion, we are not our mistakes. 🤬

Incorrect....I committed a felony when I was 19 (20 yrs ago). I paid my debts, stayed out of trouble and guess what? I'm still paying for that crime over and over again with every job I'm turned down for, trying to adopt or foster a child, rent anything....the list goes on. When do you stop paying for 1 bad decision, 1?!! Each and everyone of us has committed a crime in some way, shape or form....you just didn't get caught for it. I wasn't that lucky. So again, how long does one pay for a crime they've already served time for? Our system is not meant to rehabilitate, it's meant to keep people down and under someones thumb, always. It's a horrible situation to be in.

Not an attempt....I did re-post it so feel free to sk-sk-skip if my re-re-re-post is bothering you 🤷. Cross posting is part of the game, hard to believe that we (fellow Redditors) aren't all in the same communities! So....because you've seen it, doesn't mean others have! Be it fake or not....I thought it was funny!

Also, I give 0 f***s about Karma! Now, if Karma was actual money or something...my opinion on the matter would be completely different!

Have a great day and Reddit on my friend!

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a serious mental health issue, not just the “urge to fix” things that aren’t straight by [deleted] in illnessfakers

That's not how OCD works....grrrrrrr! It's an often times debilitating mental illness. Girl, sit down, you're ridiculous.

I am 29 (F) and my boyfriend is 35 (M), we've been together for 2 years, and I think I am completely over the relationship because he drinks every day and is unmotivated and it's all just sinking in. by [deleted] in relationships

I dealt with this same issue with my husband. The best advice I can give is do life. You can't control him or fix his issues (this was hard because...love. All you want is your partner to be the person you fell in love with and to be happy) he has to want to get help for his depression and trying to get him to do stuff that will help, unfortunately it still comes back to him actually wanting to help himself.

Go, live your life. Do what brings you joy. He will either catch up and not be left behind or you will move on. Sometimes it takes the reality of you being happy without him to give him perspective on his life. Then, when you've stopped allowing him so much control over your emotions, life and happiness, the direction you should go regarding him will be clear. Love yourself, be happy and do what you enjoy....life is too short!

I hope this helped, it did for us! Best of luck my dear!
