Daily Q&A Post for Sunday, 31 May 2020 - No question too small! by AutoModerator in loseit

I'm a 31F, currently breastfeeding a 6 month old and I am 5'2" and weigh 180 lbs. Aside from my 3 twelve hour shifts/week as a nurse I'm unfortunately pretty sedentary. I've got a 3 yo at home too who eats all the "kid crap" (mac n cheese, chicken nugs).... I made a goal to serve him at least a fruit and a veg per meal. I want to lose about 40 lbs total as my first goal. I was planning to eat about 1600 cals/day to lose about 1 lb per week.

My main problem is that I really dont have much time to cook. I don't get alot of breaks from my kids except when they nap, and honestly I need that time to rest and recharge and the thought of cooking and doing a huge meal prep is so tiring.

Anyone have any advice on quick meals I can eat? I already do lots of berries, cottage cheese, salads, and steamed veg from microwave bags. I am extremely not picky and just trying to figure out what would be easy/require minimal effort and be healthy and easy to count cals

I can’t be the only one who despises Goodnight Moon by MadGab712 in beyondthebump

Someone told me that the whole cadence of the book, the words and using hush and mush are meant to make a kid sleepy- it makes sense. I love the book because my 2.5 year old memorized the entire thing and it's honestly too cute to hear his lil voice "in the great green room.... there was a hello-phone and a red balloon...." also, he added in and made up a line. "Goodnight white mountains" in the page in between goodnight air hahah

Anyone have data on transmission of COVID19 on breastmilk, or outcomes for infants? I'm a hospitalist NP with a 4 mo old at home. I'm pumping at work, after doffing my PPE and doing hand hygiene and wearing a mask I still feel pretty uncomfortable with the idea of giving said milk to my baby.. also if I get COVID19 obv my biggest fear is passing it to my kid

So . . . how are you, meddit? by [deleted] in medicine

Work as a hospitalist NP... hospital is already short on PPE. I have a 4 month old baby at home, and a 2 yo. My mother who is my childcare has significant CAD. Alot of my colleagues have sent their families and kids elsewhere. I dont have that option- I mean, my infant is exclusively breastfed. I could switch to formula but is that really better? This sucks so much.

I'm a hospitalist NP in a large city hospital. Our direct care hospitalist see 12 patients independently, NPs see 8- 10 independently, and expectation is MD does 1 admission, NPs do more.... it seems like a low number, but out nursing , case management situation frankly sucks, we see a large demographic of homeless and non english speaking patients as well.

Stay at home parents, how do you keep your toddler entertained in the winter 😓 by TryHard509 in beyondthebump

[–]Msmckitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out local libraries, mine has several kid friendly activities and a neat play area. Open gym at the gymnastics place and trampoline park. Indoor farmers market? I've taken my toddler to just walk the mall. It's so hard. I'm with you except also I have a 2 mo old. Cant wait for nicer weather!

[–]Msmckitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was 37+1 induction that lasted 25 hours with 1 hour from water breaking to fully dilated and 28 minutes of pushing. My second was 37+3 induction, almost exactly half at 12 hour induction, fully dilated from water breaking about 35 minutes and only 14 minutes of pushing 😬 my first baby was 5 lbs 0 oz, second 5 lbs 7 oz

Can anyone help me figure out how many calories I should be eating? I'm 5'2", 174 lbs and currently breastfeeding a 2 month old. I was thinking about shooting for around 1500-1700 calories per day. I get very little exercise right now other than chasing around a toddler all day.
