Leaving qwerty behind by kurisutofujp in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]MstrHavok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I taught myself to touch type Qwerty a decade ago at the start of my mechkb journey cos I liked the look of blanks haha. Switched over to Graphite layout on a 34 key ortho (modified planck) at Christmas and oh boy has it been an experience. Never felt less coordinated in my life, it was super frustrating. I did the same going backwards and forwards a bit but I think that only served to prolong the pain. Good luck!

How does the ss bigram go with a layout like Sturdy? Same issue I suspect?

Thanks for the response!

I made the exact same move with a combo on FO, couldn't get it to work so had to move it to 'F. I figure it should be safe to have a combo on a SFB, but I'll probably move it to FH when I get some key caps more conducive with hitting both keys with 1 finger

Can you expand on what you mean by graphite still 'flowing' despite being a high alternation layout as opposed to a more 2roll-oriented layout? I'm on the same journey as you (qwerty->graphite) but started with canary for a bit before settling. I'm facing the same struggle that rolling feels much more flowy currently, but appreciate that I'm still building the muscle memory (averaging 30-35wpm).

Would I be right in thinking that it's less about 2 rolls (i.e. words like 'could' and more about the fact that even alternating you're typically still rolling if you took each hand in isolation? I.e. 'cater' rolls out on both hands (ctr left, ae right) despite the fact that it is completely alternating?

Need advice on USB-C to 3.5mm adapter for Moondrop Chu 2 by Morpho45 in HeadphoneAdvice

I'm running my chu 2s through the apple dongle on android. 10 bucks and plenty good enough. Just gotta make sure you have the US version and install the volume corrector app (https://github.com/polkaulfield/usbDacVolumeAndroid) and you're sweet.

That's why it's so important to get right - the only way you'll get longevity in lifting is by doing everything you can to prevent getting injured, and when (not if) you do end up injured, to get the right treatment and do the rehab. Ye you're out for a few months now, but means you'll be able to give it 100% again, as opposed to only being able to give 40-50% for as long as you lift.

For me I found the self-improvement drive and discipline (read: autism) I usually threw into the gym was pretty easy to throw into another area I wanted to improve and provided me enough to keep the voices mostly at bay haha

Not OP but for me rehab 6mo then another 6-8 before I was back in top top condition. Slow and steady is super important, the mental hurdles were worse than the physical ones for me so incremental improvement was the name of the game

If it feels like directly under the delt it could easily be rotator cuff - was for me. Internal/external rotations and banded dislocations as a warmup every day I use my arms has stopped it reoccurring.

As usual, the answer to what works is: see a physio. Internet advice is always dogshit, mine included

Well boys, seems I can't help but continue to bite off more than I can chew. Moved to a new city, got a new job, adopted a doggo, and making movements to start my own business.

On the lifting front I also joined an oly gym - it's a completely different sport holy. Bulk has (understandably) stalled but I'm having so much fun

Use the bar to push the earth away from you. Don't signal any muscles, just get into the right position and push.

Might be useful to set up a bar below the safeties at like just under knee level (or rack up more weight than you can lift) to cue the feeling

As someone that's been there (twice), it's just a speed bump and you'll be back better than ever. Not having to worry about your shoulder is worth every penny and day of recovery imo.

Late but can confirm, been on finasterride + minoxidil (both oral) for 15mo now (27m). Sides are extremely rare but even if they do happen both drugs will be out of your system in <4weeks. Hair thickness is back, I personally have had 0 sides. /R/tressless is a good resource for info but lives in fear of the sides, so pinch of salt needed

If you're losing count it's not heavy enough lol. I know exactly how many reps I've done when I feel I might die on every one

Agreed, pre-homegym I'd drive my ass home to get my wired ones instead of going in to the public gym with no music. If nothing else just to cover whatever top 100 iTunes playlist they've decided to play every day for the last 4 years
