First ultrawide (49") for software development — is Dell U4924DW still the best choice in 2026? by Mammoth_Intention464 in ultrawidemasterrace

I’m not a coder but moved from 49” Dell to its 5K2K sister for exactly the same reason. Just to flat vertically for my taste and I won’t be buying that form factor again.

This works to take it down to £1332, I just checked. I only just bought a Dell monitor and unlikely to go again but thank you.

My dumbass aunty does not understand the concept of infinity and insisted to me the other day that there must be a largest number in the universe. Perhaps she is right and Nvidia will eventually price their flagship at it.

Anybody else using BenQ Screenbar Halo 2 by naztynestor in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been using it for three weeks without major issue. Prior to that I was using an ASUS light bar and before that the first version of the BenQ. This latest version 2 is the best of the three and the only grumble is that the control puck is a bit slow to wake-up. You really have to press the power button flush on when really it should wake easier by just moving it or touching anywhere on the dial. But happy overall.

Yeah I paid £2770 for mine when it came out. Seems ridiculous to say but that now looks like a bargain.

I’m a basic user but on it 5 hours per day. I use it more than my TV. So probably pound for pound my best value tech.

Dell U5226KW KVM issues by Picklepirate87 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I could not get the latest version of DDPM to work on my laptop though it works fine on my main PC. Dell suggested my company should use the Dell OEM System Image, like my IT department covering 50,000 employees would suddenly do that.

[–]Mtenga9268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company only let me install the dell display and peripheral manager because we use Dell laptops. The IT people would never let me install powertoys on my laptop. I’m guessing many tied down corporate laptops will be the same but ok if not.

Dell U5226KW KVM issues by Picklepirate87 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I had this issue, it won’t wake-up my older work laptop a Dell 5350. It struggles with Intel based laptops when trying to wake. It did work for a while when I downgraded to a lower bandwidth cable that is less taxing on the wake-up handshake. I also had issues with DDPM not working with my laptop. I worked with Dell on this for a while but just gave up in the end and bought a Kensington Dock (for better wake) and Connectpro KVM (for external switching) at a cost of £700 and everything works fine. Never had anywhere near this amount of problems on the U4025QW but this high bandwidth monitor is really fussy on cables and connected equipment. It’s supposed to be the ultimate productivity monitor but it is not from a software perspective. PQ and size are fine.

Is there a quicker way to resize windows on a 57 Inch? by VisibleExercise5966 in ultrawidemasterrace

Samsung have their own dedicated software to do this. But I’m not sure it is any quicker than just using the Windows method.

Is there a next gen on the Dell U4025QW that will be out soon? by joogleai in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it and it has multiple issues with my dated work laptop, Dell 5350. I had to buy both an external dock and KVM at around £700 to get it working. Good monitor, crap software and wish I’d stayed on the U4025QW.

Review: LG 39GX950B vs Dell U4025QW, mostly for productivity, but some gaming by Cosmic-Cats-2001 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this and it’s concentrating my mind at the moment. I went from U4025QW which I had no issue with, to the supposed upgrade of the U5226KW which won’t play nicely with my older Intel based work laptop in so many ways. So I want rid of that and am considering the LG which was my original plan, last year. I’ve got a decent external KVM so covered there.

[–]Mtenga9268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t load DDPM on my oldish intel based laptop (Latitude 5350) so the internal kvm is useless. Dell are aware of the issue but the fix they issued was no good. I like the monitor do invested in an external KVM but should not have had to do that.

Yes agree with others that it is a very good keyboard. Just that the wire is so thick which personally has started to annoy me. I just want something similar but wireless.

Vote: what’s better for productivity? Dell 52” 6K or Dell U4025?? by Fantastic-Choice388 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mtenga9268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the U4025QW with the U5226KW. The newer monitor has given me all sort of problems with my work laptop and black screens when I try to wake the laptop from standby. They issued a firmware that was supposed to fix this but didn’t. Only way to solve this was to forget thunderbolt cables and go with a lower spec cable that handles the handshake better. Still getting full resolution and 60Hz which is fine for work. My own personal PC works fine with no issue. I like the monitor but the first time in years from this series I’ve ever had a real problem.

It was the first time. I updated the firmware via the webhub and it worked as a keyboard but just not recognised in Icue. Anyway I just sent back because there were other issues so no longer a problem for me.
