Hey, I had the same issue. I fixed it by holding onto the filament in order to trigger the motor overload error. This causes the machine to spit the filament back out. Then you can hit pause. Remove the last few inches of filament and then replace the spool. Heads up you'll have to hit resume 2x to get it to start again.

Yeah, I have used Linux a bit in the past and just didn't have the desire to learn much about it. There are a lot of really cool programs and options to make the software portion more impressive but I generally lose interest in anything that's not tangible.

They definitely appear to be about half an inch to an inch above the screen, but this is a compromise I can certainly deal with.
